Chapter – 221– Sri Ramacharitha Manas –
Bala Kanda– Devi Sita arrives in the garden to worship Goddess Girija in the shrine
Sage Yajjavalkya speaks “Oh! Mune, the two brothers
took a stride through the magnificent garden, both of them were completely
absorbed in the mesmerizing beauty of the garden, ponds, lakes, watercourses
etc. Rama and a Lakshman approached the care-taker of the garden and received
permission to collect flowers, after that they have collected fresh alluring
flowers in abundance, and leaves of bale and Tulsi for the worship of the
deities. At that very moment, Devi Sita who was instructed by her mother arrived
to worship Devi Girija in the shrine located in the vicinity of the garden.
Devi Sita was accompanied by her female companions, were merrily dancing and
singing, attired in marvelous garments and ornaments, approached the shrine
close to the beautiful pond, the divinity of the shrine was beyond description. Devi Sita and her female companions took a
dip in the lake, and went to the shrine. Devi Sita performed the veneration of
Goddess Girija with utmost reverence, and sincerely prayed to achieve handsome
and appropriate groom as a wedded husband. One of her companions stood far from
the shrine noticing the beauty of the garden, suddenly her eyes fell on the
two handsome youths collecting flowers from the garden, immediately she rushed
back on her feet in search of Devi Sita to inform her about the two charming
youths, on her way back to shrine, she finds it difficult to catch breathe, was
overwhelmed in extreme bliss and love.”
