Sri Ramacharitha Manas – Sri Tulsidas Maharaj – Lanka Kanda – Rama’s meeting with the Nishadharaja Guha - Phalashruthi

Chapter - 120– Sri Ramacharitha Manas – Lanka Kanda – Rama’s meeting with the Nishadharaja Guha - Phalashruthi

The gracious Lord Sri Ramachandra and Devi Sita offered obeisance to the city of Ayodhya, eyes overflown with tears, experienced a sudden rush of thrill, they landed on the Thriveni and took bath in the sacred waters, and offered an abundance of charities to Bhramins, soon the Vanaras also joined with the Lord. They have visited the hermitage of Sage Bharadhwaja, at that moment Lord Rama instructed Hanuman “Oh! Vayuputhra, assume the form of a Vatu, and go-ahead of the city of Ayodhya and inform our welfare to my younger brother Baratha, and bring back the news about him.” Sage Bharadhwaja praised the valor and virtues of Rama and offered an abundance of blessings on three of them.  Rama prostrated before the sage and with folded hands requested permission to leave, and taken a seat on the Pushpakavimana. In the meantime, Guha the Nishadha King received the news of the arrival of Rama, soon he called out for the villagers in large numbers and cheered “Let us procure a large number of ferries at the arrival of Lord Sri Ramachandra along with Devi Sita, and Lakshman.” The Pushpakavimana landed at the command of Lord Rama on the riverbank of Ganga, close to the village Sringaberipura. Devi Sita offered worship to the celestial river Devi Ganga, prostrated before her, and took a holy dip in the river, the highly pleased Devi Ganga showered blessings “Oh! Sundari, may you live a long and blissful married life.” Guha rushed to meet his beloved Lord in a state of ecstasy, seeing Lord Sri Ramachandra along with his beloved consort Devi Sita, he has fallen flat before the feet of the Lord in supreme bliss. The Lord of Raghu was extremely delighted to watch the pure love and devotion of Guha, took him from the ground, and embraced him.

The merciful Lord Rama and Lakshman embraced Guha, and asked him to sit closer to them, further they enquired about the welfare of Guha. The Nishadha Raja replied “Oh! Prabho, all is well with your grace, I am fortunate to achieve the nearness of your lotus feet which is worshiped by Lord Bhrama and Lord Shambhu. Oh! Prabho Sri Ramachandra you are the essence of welfare and bliss, mere adoration at your lotus feet would make me contented, Oh! Sukhadhama, Oh! Poornakama, I shall repeatedly prostrate before you.” Thus, Nishadharaja Guha offered obeisance to Rama, the compassionate Lord raised him from the ground and embraced him as if it was Bharatha. This dull-witted Tulsidas drenched in the impurities of Kama, Krodha, Lobha, Moha, Madha, Mathshcharya, Ahamkara, and Mamakara, could not explain the splendor of that merciful Lord Sri Ramachandra, mere listening and reciting the legend of Rama, who is the slayer of Ravana, would purify souls, and provide Anananyabhakthi/perpetual devotion at the lotus feet of Lord Sri Ramachandra.  The Mahatmas, and noble souls persistently sing in praise of the glorious myths of Lord Rama, and thereby get rid of interest in worldly matters, bondages and perceive Oneness-in-All/Athmajjana/Jeevathma is Paramathma.

Whoever reads or listens to the glorious Yudhdhakanda which depicts the victory over the evil, with intense devotion and faith would achieve everlasting victory, wisdom, and prosperity. Oh! Mind, ponder over the Sacchidhananda Swaroopa Paramathma Parambhramam resides as soul, the Kali era is the abode of impurities of Kama, Krodha, Lobha, Moha, Madha, Mathshcharya, Ahamkara, and Mamakara, there is nothing that can protect you other than the recitation of Tharakamanthra “Ra Ma” of Lord of Raghu.

Sri Ramacharitha Manas – Sri Tulsidas Maharaj – Lanka Kanda – Rama introduces the sacred places of Sethu, Prayaga, Chithrakoota, to Devi Sita and performs ablutions on their way back to Ayodhya

Chapter – 119– Sri Ramacharitha Manas – Lanka Kanda – Rama introduces the sacred places of Sethu, Prayaga, Chithrakoota, to Devi Sita and performs ablutions on their way back to Ayodhya

Lord Sri Ramachandra along with Devi Sita, Lakshman, and mighty Vanaras and bears, while traveling on the Pushpakaviman introduced all those places of importance to Devi Sita “Oh! Devi, this is the place where Sethu, a mighty bridge was constructed across the ocean, and a beautiful Linga was sanctified and worshiped by me.” After saying so, Lord Rama and Devi Sita offered obeisance to Lord Shambhu. Thus, the compassionate Lord Rama showed each and every place he had taken shelter in the absence of Devi Sita, introduced all those places with their names to his beloved consort. Finally, the Pushpakavimana arrived on the beautiful Dandakaranya which is the dwelling place of Sage Kumbhaja/ Agasthya and illustrious Sages and Rishis. Rama visited all the Sages and received their blessings, then, they have visited the marvelous land of Chithrakoota, and the hermitages of illustrious Sages and made them happy, after that the Pushpakavimana moved at a great speed, Rama pointed to the stunningly gorgeous river Yamuna,  sanctifier of the souls, wash away the impurities of Kali Yuga. Then, they have arrived on the banks of the celestial river Mahanadhi Ganga, Rama spoke “Oh! Devi, offer obeisance to Mahandhi Ganga, and look at the sacred Prayaga, the King of sacred rivers, the very sight of this holy river would burn the sins accumulated through several years. Oh! Devi, look at the confluence of river Ganga, Yamuna, and Antharvahini Saraswathi, which is the dispeller of sufferings of worldly existence, a ladder to the abode of Lord Hari. Oh! Devi, see the sacred city Kingdom of Ayodhya, which would remove the Thapathraya and liberate the Jeeva from the repeated births.”

Sri Ramacharitha Manas – Sri Tulsidas Maharaj – Lanka Kanda – Rama along with Devi Sita, Lakshman, and the Vanaras and bears mounted on the Pushpakavimana

Chapter - 118– Sri Ramacharitha Manas – Lanka Kanda – Rama along with Devi Sita, Lakshman, and the Vanaras and bears mounted on the Pushpakavimana

The Vanaras and bears dispersed at the command of Lord Rama, returned to their homes with a mixed feeling of joy and sorrow, contemplating upon Lord Sri Ramachandra. The chief of Vanara Sugrivah, Jambavan/chief of bears, Angadha, Nala, Neela, Hanuman, and Vibheeshana, along with a few mighty Vanaras and bears, were utterly miserable, not willing to go back, they stood in silence. Their eyes were soaked in tears, stood gazing at Lord Rama. At that moment, Lord Rama, along with Devi Sita and Lakshman mounted on the magnificent Pushpakavimana, and instructed everyone to take a seat on the celestial vehicle, he heartily bowed head before the Brahmins, and the Pushpakavimana took a flight towards the northern region, the Vanaras and bears cheered “Hail Lord Sri Ramachandra! Hail Seethapathi Sri Ramachandra! Hail Sri Rama and Lakshman!” Lord Rama along with Devi Sita took a beautiful throne on the raised platform on the celestial vehicle, which resembled the strike of lightning amidst the clouds on the peak of Mount Sumeru. The magnificent Vimana moved with a great speed, the deities showered flowers in great joy, a cool breeze of rich fragrance lingered on the air, there were several auspicious omens visible before them, the ocean, streams, rivers were crystal clear, everyone felt cheerful, the four quarters of the sky was clear. Lord of Raghu cheerfully spoke to Devi Sita “Oh! Devi, Janaki, it was the place where the mighty Meghanatha was killed by Lakshman, these are the demons killed by Angadha and Hanuman on the battlefield, and there is Kumbhakarnna and Ravana, the two wicked demons who tormented the deities, and Mahatmas were killed on the battlefield.”

Chapter - 117– Sri Ramacharitha Manas – Lanka Kanda – Rama instructs the Vanaras and bears to return to their homes

In this way, the supreme Bhramam which is eulogized as “Nethi Nethi” by Veda, the Bhramajjanis contemplates and undertake various austerities and penance to achieve that Bhramam incarnated as Lord Sri Ramachandra took great pleasure in the midst of the Vanaras and bears. Lord Mahadeva speaks “Oh! Devi Uma, the Vanaras and bears attained that Lord with pure love and devotion, hence the practice of austerities, Japa, Thapa, Dhyanam, Charity, Swadhyaya, Yoga, observance of celibacy, etc. were failed to achieve that compassionate Lord.” The Vanaras and bears collected the clothes and ornaments scattered on the air by Vibheeshana, and they attired in magnificent clothes and adorned in ornaments appeared before Lord Sri Ramachandra who laughed again and again, and showered compassionate grace on them and spoke “Oh! Comrade, it was your might I have conquered the mighty demons, and crowned Vibheeshana as the King of Lanka. Now, all of you can go back to your homes, and live a blissful life contemplating upon me.” The Vanaras and bears looked aghast listening to the instructions of Rama, they joined palms and spoke reverentially “Oh! Prabho, you are the Lord of three worlds, we are terribly unhappy to listen to your instructions, Oh! Lord of Raghu, you have protected us watching the pitiable state of us, we are extremely dejected to hear those words from you. Will it be possible for a swarm of mosquitoes to assist Garuda?” The Vanaras and bears noticed that the Lord of Raghu has no inclinations to take them to the Kingdom of Ayodhya, which pushed them utterly miserable, and they had no heart to return homes.

Sri Ramacharitha Manas – Sri Tulsidas Maharaj – Lanka Kanda – Vibheeshana requests Rama to take him to Ayodhya

Chapter - 116– Sri Ramacharitha Manas – Lanka Kanda – Vibheeshana requests Rama to take him to Ayodhya

Lord Shambhu speaks “Oh! Prabho, Kripasindhu I shall visit you in the Kosalapuri during your coronation ceremony”. Thus Lord Shambhu bade farewell to Lord Sri Ramachandra, soon Vibheeshana approached Lord Rama and prostrated at his feet, and earnestly prayed “Oh! Prabho, Oh! Sarangapani, you have killed the wicked demon Ravana and his clan and spread your glories in the fourteen spheres, you have given me shelter at your lotus feet, even though I was born in a lowly clan, drenched in impurities of Kama, Krodha, Lobha, Madha, Moha, Mathshcharya, Ahamkara, and Mamakara, Oh! Prabho, kindly sanctify your servant’s abode Lanka, get yourself freshen up and get rid of the exhaustion of the battle. Oh! Karunanidhe, kindly inspects the treasuries, wealth, palace of Lanka, etc., and do whatever as you please with them. Kindly accept me as one of your servants, and take me with you to the Kingdom of Ayodhya.” Lord Rama who is the protector of distressed soul, amiable, storehouse of virtues, was highly pleased to listen to the humble request of Vibheeshana, his eyes filled with tears.

Lord Rama spoke “Oh! Bhratha, you are true, all those wealth, treasures, the palace of Lanka is mine, but I am very much concerned about my younger brother Bharatha who is undertaking strict penance and austerities in the Nandigram, hence every second seems to me Yuga. He is living a life of a hermit, attired in saffron robes, observing vows and austerities, his body has emaciated due to the penance, he is constantly contemplating upon me. Oh! Dear friend, kindly make immediate arrangements to meet my brother Bharatha in the Nandigram. If I make any delay in reaching him would put his life in danger, I may not be able to see him alive.” Lord Rama overcame with a sudden rush of thrill while talking about Bharatha “Oh! Brother, you can enjoy the stately pleasures contemplating upon me till the end of creation, afterwards, you can reach to my abode which is the safest asylum of the noble soul's Mahatmas.”

Vibheeshana was immensely delighted to listen to the compassionate words of Lord Rama, he prostrated before the Lord, and clasped his feet in extreme devotion, soon the Vanaras and bears flew towards Rama and prostrated before him. Vibheeshana returned to his abode Lanka, and sincerely followed the command of the Lord, took great pleasure in the royal status, shortly he brought the Pushpakavimana before the Lord, the compassionate Lord instructed “Oh! Dear friend, mount on the grand celestial vehicle, go high on the sky and disperse the ornaments, clothes, and gold coins.” Vibheeshana took a flight on the celestial vehicle and sincerely followed the instructions of the Lord. The Vanaras and bears picked up whatever they liked, some of them picked clothes of their choice, and others picked up precious gems on their mouth, thinking it as edible, later chewed and dropped them in aversion. Lord Rama, along with Devi Sita and Lakshman took great pleasure in the various amusements of Vanaras and bears.

Sri Ramacharitha Manas – Sri Tulsidas Maharaj – Lanka Kanda – Lord Shambhu eulogizes the splendor of Rama

Chapter - 115– Sri Ramacharitha Manas – Lanka Kanda – Lord Shambhu eulogizes the splendor of Rama

The deities eulogized the splendor of Lord Sri Ramachandra along with Devi Janaki, and Lakshman, and returned to their respective abodes. The supreme Lord Shambhu arrived before Lord Rama and greeted him with great affection, bowed his head, with folded hands, eyes full of tears, the slayer of demon Tripura/Thripurari, began to eulogize Rama, his voice trailed with various emotions.

“Oh! Raghukulanayaka,  who is wielded on bow and arrows kindly protects us, Oh! Prabho, you are the delight of deities, you are the dispeller of ignorance like the wind disperses the mass of clouds, the fire that consumes the entire forest like arrogance and misconceptions. Oh! Prabho, you have Saguna and Nirgunaswaroopa, you are the storehouse of virtues, and you have the charming appearance, you are that midday sun which scatters away from the delusion on the Jeeva. You are the lion that kills the untamed elephant-like lust, anger, jealousy, pride, desire, of the Jeeva. Oh! Prabho, you are too kind and compassionate to Jeeva, you are the destroyer of frost-like lust on the lotus flowers. You are that mount Mandhara churns the worldly existence, kindly remove our anxiousness and fears, and guide us to cross the stormy ocean of worldly existence. Oh! Prabho, Sri Ramachandra, you have the stunningly marvelous appearance, beautiful lotus-like eyes, you are the storehouse virtues, you are the dispeller of agony and grief, kindly reside in our hearts with Devi Janaki, and your younger brother Lakshman. Oh! Lord of Tulsidas, dispeller of fear and anxieties, the delight of Mahathma and noble souls, kindly protect us.”

Chapter - 114– Sri Ramacharitha Manas – Lanka Kanda – The Vanaras and bears who got killed on the battlefield regained their lives, and the demons who got killed where attained liberation from worldly existence

Lord Indhra eulogizes “Oh! Prabho, Ramanivasa, kindly grant me perpetual devotion at your lotus feet, you are the dispeller of grief and sufferings, you are the source of bliss, Oh! Rama, I shall prostrate at your lotus feet, Oh! Raghunayaka who excels the beauty of several Kamadeva, you are the delight of deities, Rishis, and Sages, Oh! Prabho, you have assumed the form of an ordinary human being with the unconquerable might, you are worshiped by Lord Bhrama, Lord Shankara, and deities, Oh! Rama, I shall repeatedly prostrate at your lotus feet, kindly shower your compassionate grace on me, and command me what shall I do for you.” Lord Sri Ramachandra who is meek, was pleased with Lord Indra and spoke “ Oh! Surapathi, you have seen several bears and Vanaras killed on the battlefield while they were serving me, hence Oh! Suresa kindly restores their lives again”.  Sage Kakabhusundi speaks “Oh! Garuda, the above words of Lord Sri Ramachandra is profoundly mysterious, only the enlightened souls can understand them all. The Supreme Lord Sri Ramachandra who could remove the Thapathraya of the Jeeva wanted to add honor to Lord Indra, hence he has put forward that appeal to Lord Indra.” Soon, all those Vanaras and bears killed by the demons on the battlefield were got back their lives, rose on their feet as if from a deep sleep. Lord Rama showered compassionate grace on all those who got killed on the battlefield, only the bears and Vanaras regained their lives because the demons’ whose minds were too occupied with the thought of that Supreme Lord achieved liberation from the worldly existence, the Vanaras and bears were immortal, part of the celestials hence they have regained their lives. Is there anyone as kind and compassionate as Lord Sri Ramachandra who liberated the demon host? Even the wicked ten-headed demon drenched in worldly matters and sensual pleasures, soaked in the impurities of Kama, Krodha, Lobha, Moha, Madha, Mathshcharya, Mamakara, and Ahamkara achieved the highest state of piety,  that is the liberation which is difficult to achieve even for the Yogis and Thapasvis.

Sri Ramacharitha Manas – Sri Tulsidas Maharaj – Lanka Kanda – Lord Indra eulogizes the glories of Rama

Chapter - 113– Sri Ramacharitha Manas – Lanka Kanda – Lord Indra eulogizes the glories of Rama

Lord Indhra felt immensely relieved watching Lord Sri Ramachandra, Lakshman, and Devi Janaki safe and sound, he eulogizes the glories of Rama -

“Victory to Lord Rama who is the personification of beauty, the dispeller of grief and sufferings of the Jeeva who have taken shelter at his lotus feet. He is the mighty Lord who is wielded on bow and arrow. Victory to Kharari/the slayer of demon Khara, and the demon Dhushana, the destroyer of wicked demons on the earth. Oh! Prabho, you have killed the mighty demon Ravana and ensured welfare and peace on the Earth. You are the reliever of the burden of the Earth, you are propitious to the deities and noble souls, Oh! Prabho, the ten-headed demon grown too arrogant and ignorant, defeated the deities and Gandharvas, he constantly troubled the Rishis, Sages, humans and Nagas and birds alike, he took immense pleasure in torturing the Jeevas, committed various sins, and finally, he has reaped the fruit of his wicked deeds. Oh! Prabho, you have beautiful eyes that resemble the lotus flower petals, you are humble and kind to your worshiper, Oh! Prabho, I was proud and arrogant before, as soon as I have taken shelter at your lotus feet, all my ignorance has disappeared. Oh! Prabho, the Bhramavadhin contemplate upon the Nirgunaswaroopa Paramathma Parambhramam which was eulogized by the Vedas, I have been fascinated by the marvelous form of that supreme Bhramam personified as the son of King of Kosala. Oh! Prabho, consider me as your sincere servant and reside in my heart along with Devi Vaidhehi and Lakshman, and bless me with the perpetual devotion at your lotus feet.”

Chapter - 112– Sri Ramacharitha Manas – Lanka Kanda – King Dhasharatha arrives to meet Rama and shed tears beholding his beauty

The four-faced Lord Bhrama overcame with various emotions, looked at the marvelous appearance Lord Sri Ramachandra who is an ocean of beauty, was transported to a state of ecstasy. At that very moment, the Lord of Kosala King Dhasharatha appeared in a celestial form, and shed tears of joy beholding the beauty of Lord Rama, immediately the two brothers reverentially prostrated before their father, and received his blessings and spoke “Oh! Dear father, it was your religious merits, I have conquered the enemies, the mighty demon King on the battlefield.” King Dhasharatha shed tears listening to the humility of his son, transported to a state of bliss, Lord Rama realized that his father bore the same affection towards him even after leaving his mortal coil, so Lord of Raghu imparted the greatest of wisdom to alleviate his grief of separation. Lord Mahadeva spoke “Oh! Devi Uma, King Dhasharatha always considered the supreme Bhramam as his son, and has not practiced the devotion on that Bhramam, instead dearly loved Rama as his son, hence he did not attain salvation.” Whoever worships the supreme Lord Sri Ramachandra would attain persistent devotion/Ananyabhakthi, which would provide liberation from repeated births, and the sufferings and agonies of worldly existence as well.  The Supreme Lord Rama repeatedly prostrated before his father King Dhasharatha, eventually, his father bade farewell and returned to heaven.

Sri Ramacharitha Manas – Sri Tulsidas Maharaj – Lanka Kanda – The mirror image of Devi Sita disappeared in the fire, and the real Devi Sita emerged out of it – The deities eulogizing the splendor of Rama

Chapter - 110– Sri Ramacharitha Manas – Lanka Kanda – The mirror image of Devi Sita disappeared in the fire, and the real Devi Sita emerged out of it– The deities eulogizing the splendor of Rama

Devi Maithili fixed her thoughts upon the lotus feet of Lord Sri Ramachandra and entered into the huge sacrificial fire, that has provided the coolness of sandalwood paste to her, the people assembled were exclaimed in delight “Glory to Lord of Kosala, whose lotus feet are worshiped by Lord Shambhu with great fervor.” The shadow of Devi Sita who was lodged in the Ashokavatika was burned in the fire, and the real image of Devi Sita was emerged out of the fire, but none was understood the real truth behind it, even the deities and Siddhas stood gazing at the fire. The fire consumed the shadow image of Devi Sita, and brought the real image of Devi Sita which was eulogized by Vedas, presented to Lord Rama as if Devi Indira who was emerged out the milky ocean while churning the ocean for the nectar of immortality was presented to Lord Vishnu. Devi Sita who has exquisite beauty, and great effulgence, shone right next to Lord Sri Ramachandra who has the complexion of freshly formed dark clouds that resembled the pair of fresh blue lotus and bud of golden lily.

The deities showered flowers on the divine pair, the sounds of divine instruments reverberated on the sky, the Kinnaras and celestial Apsaras sang and danced beautifully, and everyone seated on the beautiful celestial vehicle returned to their respective abode. The beauty of Devi Janaki and the union of the two was beyond description, the Vanaras and bears exclaimed in extreme joy “Victory to Lord Seethapathi Sri Ramachandra ! Victory to Lord Rama who is the ocean of bliss!”. Mathali, the charioteer of Lord Indhra bowed before Lord Sri Ramachandra and returned to heaven, the deities who are known for self-centeredness arrived in huge numbers and praised the Lord abundantly like the Bhramavadhins, “Oh! Prabho, Sri Ramachandra, you are the companion of distressed souls, Oh! Lord of Raghu, you are kind and compassionate, you have protected us from the dreadful demons who took a toll on our lives on earth, committed various sins, finally met their miserable death. Oh! Prabho, you are indestructible Purusha, changeless, sinless, free from afflictions, you are impartial, you are unfailing, most promising to the Jeeva who have taken shelter in you. Oh! Prabho, you are an ocean of mercy, you have assumed the form of a giant fish, tortoise, wild boar, half lion and man, Vamana/dwarf, Parashurama/son of Jamadhagni, Sri Rama/son of Lord of Kosala, Balarama/son of Vasudeva and Rohini, Srikrishna/son of Devaki and Vasudeva. Oh! Prabho, you have incarnated several times and protected the Earth and its living and non-living things, and reinstated the glory of Earth. You have protected the deities whenever the troubles mounted on them. The dreadful demons, famous for their wickedness, drenched in material and sensual pleasures, finally achieved the commendable status, freed from worldly existence. Oh! Prabho, we deities are famous for self-centeredness, we have been worshiped for our welfare, Oh! Prabho, we have taken shelter at your lotus feet, kindly liberate us.”

Sri Ramacharitha Manas – Sri Tulsidas Maharaj – Lanka Kanda – Devi Sita entering into the sacrificial fire constructed by Lakshman

Chapter - 109– Sri Ramacharitha Manas – Lanka Kanda – Devi Sita entering into the sacrificial fire constructed by Lakshman

The shadow image of Devi Sita who was followed by the demons had to face harsh words, it brought gloominess among the demons, Devi Sita who is chaste, and devoted to Lord Sri Ramachandra by word, mind, and deed spoke “Oh! Lakshman, you are going to perform the fire sacrifice, quickly arrange for the sacrificial fire.” Lakshman became inconsolable, full of anguish, and pain of separation from the mother, tears overflowing down the cheeks, bowed head before Devi Sita, stood in dilemma without the courage to speak against Lord Rama. Lakshman perceived the stern look on the face of Rama, went to collect the ingredients for the fire sacrifice, and brought plenty of woods. Devi Janaki after watching the blazing fire did not get anxious at all, she offered salutation to the fire and moved forward, and uttered “If I was chaste, and devoted to my beloved Lord Sri Ramachandra of the illustrious clan of Raghu by thought, words, and deeds, may the sacrificial fire famous for burning things into ashes, provide the coolness of sandalwood paste to me.”

Chapter - 108– Sri Ramacharitha Manas – Lanka Kanda – Devi Janaki gets highly pleased with the propitious news further Devi Janaki was brought before Rama with due respect

Devi Janaki was overjoyed at the end results of the vicious battle between Rama and Ravana, a sudden rush of thrill ran through her limbs, with her eyes full of tears Devi Sita prayed to Lord Rama “Oh! Lord, Oh! Prabho, what can I offer you in return for providing me the most propitious news? There is nothing equivalent to the happiness you have brought to the world.” Hanuman spoke passionately “Oh! Mother, there is nothing promising for the entire Universe and the animate and inanimate things, that Rama and his younger brother is safe after the vicious battle with the enemies.” Devi Janaki blessed Vayuputhra “Oh! Hanuman, May all the commendable virtues abide your heart! May the Lord of Kosala and Anantha/Lakshman shower an abundance of grace on you!” Oh! My dear Son, make an arrangement for me to perceive that marvelous appearance of Lord Sri Ramachandra.” Hanuman returned to Rama and informed him about the welfare of Devi Janaki. Lord Raghu called for Angadha and Vibheeshana and ordered them to accompany Hanuman to Ashokavatika and bring Devi Sita with all respects.

Vibheeshana, along with Hanuman and Angadha, arrived on the Ashokavatika where Devi Janaki was lodged, she was surrounded by a number of demons and female demons prepared to serve Jagathjanani Jagadamba Bhagavathi. Vibheeshana ordered them to accompany Devi Sita for a ritual wash, and Devi Janaki was adorned in magnificent ornaments all over the body, by the time a stunning palanquin was brought for Devi Janaki. Devi Vaidhehi took a sat on the marvelous palanquin, contemplating upon Lord Sri Ramachandra, her beloved Lord. The palanquin of Devi Sita was guarded by several men attired in marvelous clothes, and they wonderfully marched to the Lord with intense delight. The Vanaras and bears rushed to have a glimpse of the Mother of the Universe were dispersed by the guards, watching this the Lord of Raghu advised “ Oh! Vibheeshna, bring Devi Sita on foot. So that the Vanara and bears could achieve the grace of Jagadamba Jagathjanani, Paramba, Bhagavathi Devi Sita. Let them achieve the grace of their mother.” The bears and Vanaras rejoiced profusely, soon Lord Rama brought back Devi Sita who was already taken shelter in the fire, the deities showered flowers on her, thus Sri Ramachandra brought back the real image of Devi Sita into light, and reinstated the shadow image in the fire.

Chapter - 107– Sri Ramacharitha Manas – Lanka Kanda – Hanuman meets Devi Sita in Ashoka Vatika and conveyed the message of Rama

Lord Sri Ramachandra spoke nectar-like words addressing the Vanaras and bears and cheered them “It was your might that overturned the haughty demon and his enemies and installed Vibheeshana as the King of Lanka, your glories shall remain endless in all three spheres. Whoever sings in praise of you along with my legend would easily cross the unfathomable ocean like sufferings and grief of worldly existence, eventually, get rid of repeated births as well.” The Vanaras were grown fond of listening to the nectar-like words of Lord Sri Ramachandra, never get satiated, they repeatedly bow their head before the Lord and prostrated before him.

Prabhu Sri Ramachandra called Hanuman and instructed “Oh! Vayuputhra, go to Lanka, and inform Devi Janaki about all that happened for her welfare.” Hanuman darted to the city of Lanka, the demon and female demons heard the news of the mighty Vanara returned to Lanka, were crowded to meet him. The people of Lanka offered great hospitality to the Vanara and led him to the Ashokavatika where Devi Janaki was settled. Hanuman offered obeisance from a fair distance to Devi Janaki who immediately recognized it is none other than the messenger of Rama. Devi Sita spoke affectionately “Oh! Dear son, how is Lord of Raghu and his younger brother? How is the host of Vanaras?” Hanuman spoke fervently “Oh! Mother, all is well with the grace of Lord of Kosala. The ten-headed demon was killed on the battlefield, and Vibheeshana was crowned as the King of Lanka.” Devi Janaki was extremely delighted listening to the auspicious news from Hanuman.

Chapter - 105– Sri Ramacharitha Manas – Lanka Kanda – Devi Mandodhari eulogizes the supremacy of Lord Sri Ramachandra – Vibheeshana performing the final rites of Ravana

The wives of Ravana wept bitterly “Oh! Prabho, you have fooled yourself by considering Lord Sri Hari who was personified as the son of Kosala, being an ordinary human, alas! he is the colossal fire that engulf the whole Universe at the time of deluge, he is woodfire to the demon race, you have refused to worship that supreme Lord Sri Ramachandra, who is merciful, worshiped by Lord Bhrama and Lord Shambhu and deities. Your body has taken immense pleasure in worldly matters, grown arrogant and ignorant, taken great pleasure in committing various sins, finally, that compassionate Lord has absorbed you, and showered his grace on you, hence I worship that supreme Lord Sri Ramachandra who symbolizes all-pervasive Bhramam. Oh! Prabho there is no other deity as compassionate and kind as Lord Sri Ramachandra who provided you the highest of piety that is liberation from worldly existence, which is difficult to obtain even for the Rishis and Yogis who undertakes several austerities and penance.” The deities and Rishis rejoiced listening to the nectar-like words of Devi Mandodhari eulogizing the all-pervasive Lord Sri Ramachandra. The supreme Lord Bhrama, Shambhu, Sanaka, Sanandhana, Sanathkumara, and Sanathana, Maharishi Narada, and the enlightened Rishis and Sages overwhelmed with emotions perceiving the marvelous form of Lord Sri Ramachandra on the battlefield. Vibheeshana approached the women who were lamenting over the death of their beloved husband, and gravely looked at the headless body of Ravana. Lord Rama advised Lakshman to console Vibheeshana and the rest of the people, Vibheeshana returned to Lord was advised compassionately “Oh! Vibheeshana, give up your grief, and perform the final rites of Ravana.” Thus, Vibheeshana performed the last rite of Ravana, strictly followed by the time, zone.

Sri Ramacharitha Manas – Sri Tulsidas Maharaj – Lanka Kanda – The deities and Rishis eulogizes the splendor of Rama on the battlefield – Devi Mandodhari lamenting over the death of Ravana

Chapter - 104– Sri Ramacharitha Manas – Lanka Kanda – The deities and Rishis eulogizes the splendor of Rama on the battlefield - Devi Mandodhari lamenting over the death of Ravana

The deities and Rishis eulogized the glories of Lord Sri Ramachandra “ Victory to Lord Mukunda, who is the fountain of mercy, provider of liberation from repeated births, dispeller of sins, anxiousness, and fears of the Jeeva who have taken shelter in him. He is the protector of the Jeeva who is surrendered at his lotus feet, he is the source of supreme bliss, he is the destroyer of wicked and afflictions, he is the all-pervasive supreme Bhramam who is the cause and effect, he is the Lord of animate and inanimate things, and protector as well.” The deities showered flowers, and the sounds of divine instruments echoed all over the sky, Rama resembled infinite Lord Kamadeva on the battlefield, his matted hair locks on the pinnacle of the head resembled the crown, the white flowers on the hair locks shone like the stars on the summit of the mountain of dark cloud complexioned limbs, he stood majestically with the bow and arrows on his hand, the speck of blood all over the body and face, like the several red-colored birds parched on the Thamalvruksha like his attractive limbs. Rama showered compassionate grace on the deities and Rishis assembled, instantly everyone got freed from fear and anxiousness. The Vanaras and bears cried in joy “Victory to Lord Mukunda, bestower of bliss !”

Devi Mandodhari saw the body-less heads and arms of her beloved Lord Ravana before her, she lost consciousness and fell to the ground. Soon rest of the wives of Ravana rushed from different directions, and lifted Devi Mandodhari, and lamented over the death of their beloved Lord. They rushed to the battlefield where Ravana’s headless body was taken rest, all the wives of Ravana, with their hairs disheveled, sat around the corpse, shed tears of grief, beating their chest, they have recounted the glories of Ravana, “Oh! Prabho, your splendor is indescribable, the Earth, sun, moon, fire stood obedient before the might of your arms, even the Adhishesha and the giant tortoise could not carry the weight of your body, which is now lying dusted on the battlefield. Varuna/Lord of water, Indra/King of deities, Kubera/Lord of wealth, and Lord Vayu/Lord of air, were never had the courage to battle against you. Oh! Prabho, you have conquered the death with the might of your arms, now you are lying on the battlefield heads and arms severed. Oh! Prabho, your might was well known to the entire world, even your kinsmen and sons possessed the indescribable might of you, the hostility towards the Lord Sri Ramachandra reduced your status to nil, there is not a single person lamenting on your death. Oh! Prabho, the entire creation of that Lord was under your control, the guardians of eight quarters were bowed before you, now the jackals and vultures are taking pleasure of your body parts. Oh! Prabho, you haven’t heeded to my words and pushed yourself to death, you have brought hostility towards that all-pervasive Bhramam, Lord of animate and inanimate, personified as the son of Kosala, Rama and considered him as an ordinary human.” In this way, Devi Mandodhari and the rest of the wives of Ravana shed tears watching the headless trunk of Ravana.

Sri Ramacharitha Manas – Sri Tulsidas Maharaj – Lanka Kanda – The ten-headed demon Ravana was killed on the battlefield

Chapter - 103– Sri Ramacharitha Manas – Lanka Kanda The ten-headed demon Ravana was killed on the battlefield

There were visible inauspicious omens that appeared in Lanka, the idols were shed tears, there was alarming thunder, lightning, the whirlwind that dropped hairs and dust, there was a shower of blood, the Earth quivered. The deities watching the bad omens shouted in joy “Victory to Lord Sri Ramachandra! Victory to Lord Seethapathi Sri Ramachandra! Victory to Rama and Lakshman!” The Supreme Lord Sri Ramachandra perceived the anxiousness of the deities and set an arrow on his powerful bow Sharnga, stretched it up to ears, and shot thirty-one arrows that resembled the wingless serpents aiming at the ten-headed demon. One of the arrows dried up the nectar of immortality on the navel of Ravana, the rest of the arrows cut off his arms and heads. The headless and armless body of Ravana danced on the battlefield, the Earth shuddered under his feet, until the Lord of Raghu shot another arrow and rip off the body into two, while leaving mortal coil Ravana shrieked “Where is Rama? I have challenged him to kill on the battlefield.” Finally, the lifeless body of Ravana fell on the ground with a large thud, and the Earth shook violently under his weight, the oceans, rivers, mountains, elephants guarding the quarters quivered terribly. The two halves of the body of Ravana were crushed under the weight of Vanaras and bears. The powerful arrows of Rama hurled the ten heads and twenty arms of Ravana before Devi Mandodhari and returned to its quiver.  The deities and celestials celebrated the death of the dreadful demons, sounds of divine instruments reverberated all over the sky. The soul of Ravana assumed a brilliant light and entered into the mouth of supreme Lord Sri Ramachandra, the four face Lord Bhrama and Lord Shambhu rejoiced at this sight, the whole Universe cheered in great enthusiasm “ Victory to Lord Sri Ramachandra! Victory to Seethapathi Sri Ramachandra! Victory to Rama and Lakshman !” The deities and Rishis showered flowers on Rama, and praised “ Victory to the compassionate Lord Mukundha who is the bestower of liberation from worldly existence!”
