Chapter -93 – Sri Ramacharitha Manas – Uththara Kanda – Sage Kakabhusundi describes the easiest way to achieve the grace of Lord Sri Ramachandra - spiritual knowledge is impossible to attain without a preceptor

Sage Kakabhusundi describes the Viratswaroopa of Lord Sri Hari to Garuda “Oh! Thatha, the supreme Lord Rama is incomparable, the Nigamagamashasthras, Sages, and Rishis eulogize the Lord as there is no deity as Lord Rama, even the Lord Surya has a little bit of taint in him. The Sages and Rishis praise the splendor of the Lord according to their intellect, and they take great pleasure in singing in praise of the Lord who is truly kind and compassionate to his devotees. Oh! Garuda, the virtues of Lord Rama is countless, who can measure the depth of it? I have described a few of them that I have heard from the Santh Mahathma. The Supreme Lord Rama is an ocean of compassion, bliss, and mercy that can be attained only through the practice of pure love and devotion. Therefore, whoever wants to attain the grace of Seethapathi Lord Sri Ramachandra should abandon the Kama, Krodha, Lobha, Moha, Madha, Mathshcharya, Ahamkara, and Mamakara, and excessive interest in worldly matters, possession, richness, wealth, fame, children, wife, companion and relatives, etc.”

The King of birds, Garuda was extremely delighted to listen to the nectar-like speeches of Sage Kakabhusundi, he fluttered his wings in extreme joy, tears were overflown, immersed in extreme bliss, started meditating upon the Supreme Lord Rama. Garuda was extremely saddened to remember his illusion, watching the compassionate Lord Rama fastened by the Nagapasha on the battlefield, and considered the supreme Bhramam as a mere mortal. He repeatedly prostrated before Sage Kakabhusundi, remembering he is none other than Rama himself. The Jeeva cannot attain spiritual wisdom without the guidance of a preceptor, even if he is Bhrama or Shambhu. Garuda spoke in tears “Oh! Prabho, I was bitten by the serpent of illusion watching Lord Rama fastened by the Nagapasha on the battlefield. Oh! Sage, the compassionate Lord protected me by sending to you, an ardent devotee of the Lord and thereby saved me from delusion, hence I have got rid of my misapprehension with your grace, I have learned incomparable might of Lord Rama from you.”
