Chapter – 273 (1) – Sri Ramacharitha Manas
– Bala Kanda– Rama describes the splendor of Sage Parashurama
Rama spoke politely “Oh! Bhagavan, how can
I fight with my preceptor, there wouldn’t be a fight with preceptor and
disciple, hence kindly give up your anger. Oh! Bipravara,/illustrious Bhramin,
my younger brother after taking notice of your saffron robe, wielded in bow,
arrow, and ax assumed you as a great warrior, did not perceive your real nature,
therefore he cannot be held blame for it. Oh! Prabho, your mighty stature,
well-built physique, armed in ax, bow, and arrow, my brother considered you as a
mighty warrior and got excited, although he had heard of your prowess, and
legends, he did not recognize you thoroughly, hence he spoke harsh words full
of toxin that he has inherited from his lineage. Oh! Prabho, if he had
perceived you as a Sage, he would have prostrated before you and adore the dust
particle from your feet on his head. Oh! Prabho, you are too compassionate and
kind, forgive my brother for his mistake, it was not a deliberate attempt. Oh!
Prabho, how shall I explain your glories, are we different from each other? We are
inseparable, my name is ‘Rama’ and yours is ‘Parashurama’. Oh! Prabho, the bow
you are wielded is mine, you have nine auspicious symbols in you, those
represent tranquility, restraint, penance, purity, forbearance, truthfulness,
wisdom, and supreme knowledge and devotion. Oh! Prabho, I am inferior to you,
cannot compare myself with you. Oh! Bhagavan, kindly pardon us.”
