Chapter – 257– Sri Ramacharitha Manas –
Bala Kanda– Devi Sita adorn the garland of victory/Jayamala around the neck of
Rama and vice versa
The deities showered flowers on the couple,
while the Kings and princes assembled from the neighboring countries shrunken
in extreme distress like the withered lilies at the arrival of the sun, watching Rama
holding the garland of victory on his chest. There was auspicious music
reverberated all over the Earth and heaven, the wicked Kings and princes were
hurt, and the virtuous people beamed with joy. The celestial apsaras danced to
the beautiful music of Gandharvas, showered flowers on the couple. The
twice-born recited Vedic chants in chorus brought marvelous experience to the
world, and the Vandhigana eulogized the couple, families, Kingdom, and its
subjects. The news spread fast across the Universe, that Lord Rama achieved
Devi Sita as his consort. The people assembled were lightened lamps to remove the
evil eyes on the newly wedded couple and offered an abundance of charities as
a sign of righteousness. The pair resembled beauty and love incarnated as Lord Rama
and Devi Sita respectively. One of the female companions urged Devi Sita “Oh!
Devi, prostrate before the feet of your consort.” Devi Sita was too scared to
touch the feet of the Supreme Lord who is the Lord of Lords.
