Chapter – 281– Sri Ramacharitha Manas –
Bala Kanda– The message of King Janaka brought extreme delight to the assembly
of King Dhasharatha
Sage Yajjavalkya speaks “Oh! Mune, the splendor of the City of Mithila where the supreme Goddess Mahalakshmi who is
the essence of beauty, fortune, wisdom, wealth, and happiness incarnated as
daughter of King Janaka, was beyond description even for the Goddess Sarada who
symbolizes excellence in speech, and the thousand tongued serpent Adhishesha.”
The messengers of King Janaka arrived in
the Kingdom of Ayodhya, which is the birth of place of the supreme Lord Hari as
Rama, behold the mesmerizing beauty of the city. The messengers conveyed their
presence to the palace guards, soon they were taken to meet the King, and the
message was delivered to the King Dhasharatha, who was anxiously waiting to
hear the news of his beloved children. King Dhasharatha’s joys grew beyond
limits after receiving the message from King of Mithila, his tears welled up,
raptured in strong emotions, his bodily hairs stood upright in a thrill, his
heart was beaming with delight. King Dasaratha was transported to a state of ecstasy,
could not utter a word, the members of the assembly stood motionless, further
the King regained consciousness and read out the content of the letter to the
ministers. There were loud voices of wishes
poured out in the assembly, soon Bharatha and Shathrughna with their playmates
arrived in the assembly noticing the sudden roar of celebration, Bharatha
affectionately asked his father “Oh! Father, what was the reason for the sudden
rush of joy in the assembly? Where did the message come from?”
