Bala Kanda– The women’s praiseworthy comments on the two charming princes
Sage Yajjavalkya speaks “Oh! Mune, the
beautiful women assembled on the balconies and terrace of their houses spoke “Oh!
Dear friends, these two attractive youths, one is dark cloud complexioned and
another one in the fair is the essence of beauty and bliss. They have excelled the loveliness of the crores of Manmatha, their marvelous stature, and stunning appearance
is beyond description.” Other women who were assembled thrilled to watch the
youths and spoke “Oh! Dear friends, have you seen anyone attractive and pleasant
as these two lads in your lifetime?” and another one spoke in a sweet tone “Oh! Dear
Friends, listen to me carefully, what I have been told about these two lads one
in a freshly formed dark cloud
complexioned attired in yellow silk garment wrapped a blue robe on the waist,
attractive physique, charming appearance, adorned in marvelous ornaments,
wrapped on a robe to cover the upper portion of the thickly grown dark curly
hair locks, long and beautiful eyes stretched up to ears resemble a blue lotus
flower petals, lustrous forehead adorned in vermilion and sandalwood paste,
conch shaped neck adorned in pearl choker, long and powerful hands stretched up
to knees, deep navel, broad chest, strong shoulders, three attractive lines on
the stomach, wielded in bow and arrow, and the other youth in fair complexion, have
the beautiful appearance as the elder one, strong built, are the sons of King
Dasaratha of Kingdom of Ayodhya. They have followed Maharishi Vishwamithra to
the dense forest to protect his fire sacrifices, they have killed powerful
demons Subhahu and his huge army of demons, and thrown Mareecha out of sight.
The elder one in dark cloud complexioned is Rama, son of Devi Kausalya, and the younger one is Lakshman, son of Devi Sumithra, these two fearless youths are
inseparable from each other.”
