– 213– Sri Ramacharitha Manas – Bala Kanda - The women and men assembled to
witness the beauty of the two princes
Sage
Yajjavalkya speaks “Oh! Mune, Rama, and Lakshman who are the bliss personified,
with marvelous appearances and attractive limbs, the beautiful curly hair locks
were partially wrapped with a striking robe, got the eyes of onlookers. The
people of Mithila came to know that these two princes have arrived to have a
glimpse of the city, women, and men rushed on their feet, leaving their work, families, elderly, and children behind as
if the Pauper rushes after the treasure. They overwhelmed watching the
mesmerizing beauty from the toe to head of the two princes, achieved the
fruitfulness of their eyes. The women and young maidens stood on the terrace, bay
windows, and balconies of their homes to have a glimpse of these two charming
princes, and drank the beauty of the lovely youths with their eyes. The women
conversed with each other in extreme joy “Oh! Friends, these two princes have stunning
appearances which excelled thousands and crores of Manmatha, and even the
deities, Gandharvas, Kinnaras, Yaksha, Naga, etc. cannot surpass the
attractiveness of these two youths. Lord Bhrama has four faces, Lord Vishnu
has four arms, and Lord Shiva is attired in animal skins and holds dreadful
weapons. Oh! Friends, these two youths have possessed immense loveliness, are
beyond comparison and description.”
