– 200– Sri Ramacharitha Manas – Bala Kanda– Sage Vishwamithra arrives in the
Kingdom of Ayodhya and reveals the purpose of his visit to the King
Sage
Vishwamithra set out to visit the Kingdom of Ayodhya, all his way he has
nothing other than to think, contemplating upon the supreme Lord Sri Hari who
has incarnated as the beloved son of King Dhasharatha and Devi Kausalya.
Finally, Sage Vishwamithra arrived in the city of Ayodhya, took holy dip in the
river Sarayu, and moved to the assembly of King Dhasharatha. As soon as the
King heard the news of the arrival of Sage Vishwamithra, he rushed on his feet with
a group of twice-born to the patio to receive the sage, he reverentially
prostrates before him, and received the Sage to the grand assembly, offered him
the throne, washed his feet, and amiably spoke “Oh! Mune, I am the most
fortunate one today, you have taken great efforts to visit us.” Soon, the King
and the queens served a sumptuous meal to the Sage, further they have brought
four children before the Sage and prostrated before him. The mere sight of Rama
transported the sage into a state of bliss, could not take his eyes off from
Rama, Sage fixed gaze on his loveliness, like the Chakora birds stare at the
full moon. King Dasaratha was gladdened at heart, requested the Sage “Oh!
Mune, kindly reveal the purpose of your visit, how shall I serve you? I am
waiting to carry out your commands without any delay.” Sage Vishwamithra looked
into the eyes of King Dhasharatha and spoke with a concern “Oh! Rajan, I was
conducting Tapasya and austerities with a flock of Sages in the dense woods, unfortunately, there were a large number of demons causing constant impediments to our
Yaga procedures, and several of the twice-born were killed and injured by them.
I want to take your son Rama to the forest, along with Lakshman. So that I can
get rid of the atrocities of the demons, with the help of these two divine
children and I can peacefully carry out the austerities and Tapasya.”
