Ayodhya Kanda– Manthara cautioning Devi Kaikeyi about Devi Kausalya
Devi Kaikeyi who was susceptible by the
influence of Maya, listening to the words of deceitful yet affectionate of
Manthara, began to repose her trust on the hunch back, like an enemy is
mistaken as the friend. Devi Kaikeyi repeatedly questioned Manthara to reveal the
truth, she was already hypnotized by the wicked hunch back with her gullible
words, like the doe fascinated by the charming music of Bhila. Manthara was pleased to see her plans
to overthrow the fate of the people of Ayodhya and their happiness is getting accomplished,
found that Devi Kaikeyi is weak, her reasoning capacity has gone forever, she
was terribly confused to understand what’s happening before her at this moment.
Manthara pretend to be naïve and spoke “Oh! Devi, I am afraid to speak anything
now, you are compelling me so I shall continue to speak, any way you have given
me the name of a traitor in the royal family.” Manthara ensured she had
completely manipulated the queen’s mind, and began to speak in a pleasing
manner so that the queen does not get a clue of upcoming disaster, in
the meantime, Manthara who resembled the evil effect of the planet Saturn for
seven and half years on Ayodhya, began to speak in a most loyal spirit to the
queen “Oh! Devi, just now you have uttered Rama and Sita are dear as life to
you, and you have completely surrendered yourself to Rama, that’s true to my
knowledge. Oh! Devi, all that happened was in the past, everything has changed, a
friend can be a foe in no time. The sunlight is essential to bloom lotus
flowers, as the water, otherwise, would wither quickly. Devi Kausalya may
cause mishap to you, she may strike you from the root of your very existence in
the royal family if you are not protected well by yourself.”
