Chapter – 327– Sri Ramacharitha Manas –
Bala Kanda– Devi Sunayana’s advice to her beloved daughter Sita
King of Vidheha offered an abundance of gifts to his sons-in-law which were beyond description, the wealth offered as a gift in marriage to Lord Sri Ramachandra was superior to the abodes of the deities. All those gifts were safely sent to the Kingdom of Ayodhya, the Queens felt miserable as the fish out of the water at the news of the departure of their sons-in-law and daughters and their families. Devi Sunayana carried her daughter Sita on her lap and kept advising her in a sweet tone “Oh! Dear Child, may you live long with your consort! May you both live a blissful married life! May you remain beloved of your consort! This is our earnest blessing to our child. Oh! Child, sincerely serve your in-laws, and elderly members of the family, always follow the words of your beloved consort, and be a dutiful wife to him. Oh! Dear one, always make sure to keep your husband cheerful by words, mind, and deeds!” The clever female companions of Devi Sita took her with them and affectionately advised her about the household duties of a married woman. The queens took all their daughters on their lap, repeatedly embraced them and kissed on their forehead, and exclaimed in a sad tone “Why did Lord Bhrama create women on the Earth?”
