Bala Kanda– The Queen mothers prepares the bed for Lord Rama
King Dhasharatha spoke “Oh! Devi, our sons
are too tired and feeling drowsy, kindly take them to bed, and put them for
sleep.” Saying so, King retired to his own chamber, contemplating upon the
lotus feet of Lord Rama. The queens rushed to prepare a bed for the children into
the marvelous chamber, where the gem-studded cot furnished with expensive
mattresses, cushions, spreads, furs, etc. of milk-white, was stunningly
beautiful. The room was furnished in extravagant clothes, furniture, mirrors,
chandeliers, etc. the large cot was adorned in various precious gems, flowers,
perfumes of rich scent, the supreme Bhramam personified as the son of Dhasharatha
only knows to describe them. Devi Kausalya affectionately led Rama to his
beautiful chamber and put him to sleep on the bed. The three brothers assembled
around Rama who was laid on the bed was insisted to retire to their own
chamber. The queen mothers watching the attractive cloud-complexioned limb of
Rama, exclaimed in an affectionate manner “Oh! Dear, how did you manage to kill
the dreadful female demon Thadaka while your way to the hermitage of Maharishi
Vishwamithra?”
