Chapter
– 2– Sri Ramacharitha Manas – Ayodhya Kanda– King Dhasharatha’s revelation of the arrival of elderly years of age
Everyone
in the Kingdom cherished the loveliness of the couple and prayed to Lord of the
Lords Mahadeva, “Oh! Prabho, we wish to witness the Yuvaraj/heir to the throne,
Rama crowned as the King of Ayodhya, while the King Dhasharatha is alive.” One
day King Dhasharatha who is the embodiment of virtues, along with ministers and
preceptors was seated in the grand assembly and listening to the over-pouring
fame of the heir to the throne, Lord Rama who is the Lord of Lords, Lord of fourteen
worlds, Sarvagya/knower of past, present and future, lured the hearts of all
those neighboring Kings. All have the opinion that the young prince Rama is equally
skillful, wise, learned, and knowledgeable as King Dhasharatha. Rama made large acquittances
with the rulers of the nearby regions for the welfare of the subjects of
Ayodhya and Rama is the supreme bliss of King Dhasharatha, so whatever eulogized
about him would fall short of words. King Dhasharatha casually approached the
mirror, and had a look at his face, and repositioned the crown. Suddenly, he
noticed a few grey hairs on the corner of the ears, as if the later years of
age whispering on its arrival “Oh! King, perform the coronation of Rama as the
King of Ayodhya, and achieve the fruitfulness of your birth and the object of
life.”
