Kanda – The tragic end of Lord Kamadeva
The appearance of Lord Kamadeva roused
passion in all the living creatures, the beauty of the forest enhanced ten folds,
trees, plants, and creepers loaded with a variety of fresh fragrant flowers of the rich scent, honey bees buzzing all around the forest, beautiful birds Swan,
Cuckoos and parrots began to sing melodiously, the celestial Gandharvas and
Asparas sang in a melodious tone and danced to the tune. The influence of
Kamadeva on living creatures drenched them in passion, lust, and desire, even
the lifeless has begun to feel the same. Kamadeva’s tactics did not work before
the supreme Lord Mahadeva who was immersed in a trance, it made him angry and
disappointed. Kamadeva took a seat on a
mango tree loaded with flowers and fruits, he angrily stretched the five flower
arrows up to the ear, and released them focusing on the chest of Lord Shiva, and it
hit right on the spot on the chest, Shambhu got out of the deep trance and was
completely disturbed by this act of Kamadeva. Lord Shambhu looked all around in
a fury, set his blazing stare on the mango tree loaded with fruits and flowers
where Kamadeva was hidden behind the leaves. The rage of Lord Shambhu made the
huge tree quivering, soon he closed the third eye that was an emitting blaze, and
looked at Kamadeva caused burn him into ashes. Suddenly, the entire Universe doomed into utter
despair, without passion or desire, huge cries of deities rose in the air, the
demons were extremely happy, the saintly and noble-souls got rid of the rapture
of passion, lust and desire, and anxiousness immediately.
