Sri Ramacharitha Manas – Sri Tulsidas Maharaj – Bala Kanda – The influence of Lord Kamadeva on the living and non-living

Chapter – 85– Sri Ramacharitha Manas – Bala Kanda – The influence of Lord Kamadeva on the living and non-living

Rishi Yajjavalkya speaks “Oh! Mune, I have described the miserable state of pious and noble-saints who were under the clutches of lust, desire, passion, hence I need not speak about the ordinary Jeeva drenched in it. The Yogis, Siddhas, Muniganas once perceived the all-pervasive Bhramam, and Oneness-in-all began to witness all the living beings as an object of physical pleasure. The men and women over-persuaded by lust and desires have forgotten time, place, and relation. In this way, the mischievousness of Lord Kamadeva lingered on the Earth for an hour. None of the creatures on the Earth could control lust, desire, passion except the virtuous and disciplined Lord of Raghus. Thus, Lord Kamadeva played his tactics for an hour on all the creatures, finally arrived at the sight of Lord Mahadeva was immersed in Tapasya. Lord Kamadeva horrified to watch Lord Shambhu, soon the creatures on the Earth got relieved from the clutches of Kamadeva and peace were restored. Lord Kamadeva alarmed at the sight of Lord Mahadeva is an unconquerable, mighty Lord of Lords. Kamadeva felt ashamed of his failure before Lord Rudra, soon he released the beautiful spring season, king of all the seasons. The entire forest flourished with trees, plants, creepers, loaded with a variety of flowers of rich fragrances, the whole atmosphere echoed with the chirping of birds of various attractive species, wells, ponds, rivers, and streams filled with rich crystal-clear water. The mesmerizing beauty of nature roused passion and lust even in the dispassionate.”
