Chapter – 69– Sri Ramacharitha Manas – Bala
Kanda – The significance of the practice of pure love and devotion at the lotus
feet of Lord Shambhu
Maharishi Narada continues “ Oh! Himavan, the
ignorant and arrogant Jeeva who finds fault in the essential elements and
deities would reap the fruit of their sins in the entire Kalpa or continues to
suffer till the end of the Universe. They cannot achieve the nobleness of Esha,
like the waters of Ganga stored in the glass used to drink wine that holds the smell of it, the noble souls won’t consume the water stored in the glass of
wine, even if it is waters of Ganga, but the same glass of water poured into the river
Ganga becomes purified. The supreme Lord Shambhu is all-pervasive Bhramam,
pure, changeless, unblemished, free from afflictions, neither birth nor death, symbolizes
supreme wisdom, and auspiciousness, hence any impurities adorned gets cleansed
immediately with the magnificence of that Lord. Therefore, the marriage of your
daughter with Lord Shankara will bring auspiciousness to all, but it is
difficult to propitiate that Lord Shambhu who is Ashuthoshi gets highly pleased
with sincere devotion, austerities, and Tapasya. If Devi Uma undertake
severe penance contemplating upon that Tripurari who is the slayer of the demon
Tripura, she can please the Lord with her austerities. You may find several
grooms suitable for your daughter Girirajakumar, but none cannot bring
auspiciousness and welfare like Lord Shambhu who is the destroyer of sorrows
and grief, and bestower of boons, compassionate and kind to Jeeva who have
taken shelter in him, he is most promising and protector of Jeeva. Oh! Himavan,
none of the Tapasya or knowledge in Shastras, Purana, Veda, Vedanga, practice
of Yoga, the utterance of Manthra won't yield results in millions of Yuga without
the pure love and devotion at the lotus feet of Lord Shambhu.”
