– 77– Sri Ramacharitha Manas – Bala Kanda – Saptharishis meets Devi Parvathi

Mahadeva spoke to the Saptharishis “Oh! Mahathma, kindly put Devi Parvathi into
a test to find out her devotion and love, and make her forget all the qualms,
kindly convince her to return with her father Himavan without any anxiousness.”
The Saptharishis arrived at the place where Girirajakanya immersed in the
Tapasya, was spell-bound watching the glorious Tapasya of Devi
Parvathi who is austerities personified. The Saptharishis approached Devi
Parvathi and spoke “Oh! Shailarajakumari, why are you engaged in extreme
penance? Whom do you worship and what is the purpose of your rigorous
austerities? Kindly brief us the purpose of your Tapasya.” Devi Parvathi
reverentially prostrated before the Saptharishis and spoke shyly in a soft tone
“Oh! Mahathma, you may feel it’s my silly act, but my mind has strictly adhered to the advice of my preceptor Maharishi Narada, hence I have conducted Tapasya
to please the supreme Lord Mahadeva, and achieve that Lord as my consort, my
heart is brimming with joy with the mere thought of the predictions of
Maharishi Narada, as I have always dreamt that supreme Lord Mahadeva as my
wedded husband.”
