Chapter – 68– Sri Ramacharitha Manas – Bala
Kanda – Maharishi Narada describes the auspiciousness of Lord of Lords Mahadeva
who is adorned in inauspicious ornaments
Maharishi Narada spoke “Oh! Himavan, no one
can rewrite the destiny, not even the deities, Kinnara, Dhanuja, Nara, Naga,
Muni etc. hence listen to me carefully, if you follow my advice, you could find
peace within you. Devi Uma would achieve a wonderful Lord as wedded husband as
I have described earlier, he is the mighty Lord of Lords who is the essence of
auspiciousness, wisdom, peace, welfare, and bliss. The pair would make
incomparable, and inseparable, bring fame to the Universe. Whatever I have
described the inauspicious marks on that mighty Lord are the source of
auspiciousness to the world, 1) the sacred ashes smeared on the body to remind
the Jeeva about the impermanent life on Earth, 2) the serpents adorned as
ornaments taught us the technique to turn out the toxic poison like the grief of
worldly existence into the nectar of immortality with the power of devotion, 3) the garland of
skulls reveal the compassion of the Lord, 4) the baby deer on his hand
resemble mind that has flickering nature, taught us the importance of
austerities for self-control 5) the matted hair locks that are the dwelling
place of sacred river Ganga and the crescent moon, 6) the skin of animals as attire to reveals his
compassion to all Jeeva. Oh! Himavan, there
is no difference between Hari and Hara, even Hari reclines on the Adishesha
that does not bring inauspiciousness to him, and the wise do not blame them. Likewise,
Lord Surya is capable to dry moistures and evaporates water causes rainfall,
the streams and rivers confluence with the sacred Ganga do not make her impure,
fire burn down everything gets into contact with it, and the wise do not blame their nature, hence they remain pure as ever.”
