Chapter
– 281– Sri Ramacharitha Manas – Ayodhya Kanda– King Janaka praising the virtues
of Devi Sita
Devi
Sita was deeply moved to watch her parents in anxiousness, soon the mother of the Earth has
regained her normal self and remembered her noble duties to her consort and in-laws.
King Janaka behold his dearest daughter in a saffron robe, overwhelmed with
anxiousness and love, spoke affectionate words “Oh! Puthri/daughter, you have
brought sanctity to both the families, everyone highly praises your virtues and
amiability, your fame has outshone the celestial river Ganga, penetrated
through the clan of Raghu’s and spreading light to the millions of Universes,
while the celestial river Ganga exalted her glories in three worlds, the stream
of your fame has added glories to the several ascetics, and noble souls.” King
Janaka abundantly praised the virtues of Devi Sita that made her drown in the
sea of bashfulness. King Janaka and Devi Sunayana embraced Devi Sita, advised
her duties and responsibilities as the consort of Rama and her mother’s-in-law
once again, and showered an abundance of blessings. Devi Sita did not speak a
word. Devi Sita felt it not advisable to
stay with them leaving her consort and mothers-in-law at these inauspicious
hours of mourning, she became uncomfortable to stay in the hermitage of her
parents that night. Devi Sunayana read the mind of her daughter, and discussed the same with King Janaka, both of them admired the generosity and noble
disposition of Devi Sita.
