Chapter – 187– Sri Ramacharitha Manas –
Ayodhya Kanda– The deities eulogize the love between Bharatha and Guha
Bharatha affectionately raised Guha who was
prostrated at his feet, and embraced him, as if he had met Lakshman, felt the
rush of love for Guha, and he could not control tears of joy. He repeatedly
embraced Guha, and the people who were watching the bond between the two
admired the pairs. The deities praised them and showered flowers upon them and cheered
“Guha who was born in the lowly clan of hunter, considered as impure by Veda
and scriptures, whoever cross the shadows of this lowly people should bathe,
yet the young brother of Lord Rama embraced him in great joy. Whoever utters
the sacred name “Ram’ would get rid of hosts of sins, even pronounced this
sacred name while yawing would provide its fruit. Guha is beloved of Rama,
embraced that supreme Bhramam, thereby he and his family have achieved an abundance of
piousness, which is capable to purify the whole world. Likewise, the waters of
the inauspicious river Karmanasa confluence with Ganga would achieve piousness
with the touch of sacred Ganga. The entire world knows about the legend of Sage
Balmiki who was born as a hunter, achieved the status of Bhramam by merely
uttering the name of Rama in reverse order ‘Ma Ra’.”
