Chapter – 274– Sri Ramacharitha Manas – Ayodhya
Kanda– The people of Ayodhya and Mithila forgot their grief of worldly
existence in the presence of Rama and Devi Sita
All the people assembled before Sage
Vashishta received baskets full of fruits, rooted vegetables, etc. They have returned
to their shelter homes with the baskets full of fruits and vegetables,
conducted the worship of deities, preceptors, and Pithrus/ancestors, and shared
the fruits among themselves. In this way, four days were passed, the people of
Ayodhya and Mithila were extremely happy in the presence of Rama, none has the heart
to return home without Rama and Devi Sita, they considered living in the woods
with Lord Rama and Devi Sita is millions of times happier than living in
the abode of Amaravathi, the abode of deities. The people who did not make it to the woods, living in their homes felt unfortunate, did not achieve the fruitfulness
to live with Rama, Lakshman, and Devi Sita. The people of Mithila and Ayodhya in
the woods have found living in the presence of Rama is the source of welfare and
happiness, taking a holy dip in the river Mandakini on a regular basis, and
behold Rama who is the symbol of supreme bliss and auspiciousness, conducting journey
through the woods, circumambulate the propitious mountain Kamadhagiri contemplating
upon Rama, visiting the hermitages of ascetics and Rishis, living on fruits,
fiber roots, and vegetables available in the woods. They thought it would be blissful
if they could spend another fourteen years with Rama, Lakshman, and Devi
Sita in the woods, the days would go like minutes.
