Ayodhya Kanda– The elderly members of the family and companions advises Devi
Kaikeyi
The elderly members of the family, the
twice-born and ministers spoke “ Oh! Devi Kaikeyi, Will Devi Sita forgo Rama?
Will Lakshmana choose to remain in the Kingdom in the absence of Rama? Will
Bharatha enjoys the crowning as King of Ayodhya? Will King Dhasharatha survive
without Rama? Oh! Devi, remove resentment from your heart, otherwise, you will
make yourself the storehouse of miseries and sorrows. Oh! Devi, kindly listen to us, let Bharatha take
the regime as the King of Ayodhya, further what’s the need to exile Rama from
the Kingdom? Rama has no desire for the crown or Kingdom, he is the Lord of
righteousness and has no interest in stately pleasures. Oh! Devi, ask the King
to send Rama to the preceptors’ home and let him live with the preceptor as the
second boon. If you do not follow our advice, you won’t gain anything in your
life. We still believe that all that was happened are unreal, it was a sportive
time with your King. So, kindly be transparent, does Rama like a virtuous son
is deserved to be in the woods for fourteen years? What will the world speak
about your view? So kindly speak up something wise to remove the grief and
agony of the people of Ayodhya.”
