Chapter
– 115 (2)– Sri Ramacharitha Manas – Ayodhya Kanda– The innocent conversation of the
elderly women assembled around Devi Sita
The charming appearance of Rama and
Lakshman adorned in matted hair locks on the pinnacle of the head, attractive
limbs, lovely face resembled autumn moon, strong shoulders, wide chest, long
hands stretched up to the knee, beautiful eyes resembled lotus flower petals, and
the perspiration gleamed the beads adorned on the chest, were beyond my words.
The villagers could not take their eyes off from Rama, Lakshman, and Devi Sita,
they gazed at them like the Chakora birds at the full moon, they stood
motionless in a state of bliss. The elderly women of the village approached
Devi Sita in affection and put forward several questions that were unanswered by
Devi Sita in an utter shyness, they repeatedly prostrated at the lotus feet of Devi
Sita and spoke innocent words “Oh! Devi, Oh! Rajakumari, we are ignorant ones,
we have no knowledge kindly forgive us. These two princes are extremely
charming, the precious gem emerald and gold must have borrowed the luster from
these two handsome princes Rama and Lakshman respectively.”
