Chapter
– 110– Sri Ramacharitha Manas – Ayodhya Kanda– The villagers nearby the riverbank
of Yamuna throng to meet the princes of Ayodhya
Rama followed by the disciples of Sage
Bharadhwaja arrived on the riverbank of Yamuna, he reverentially sends off the
disciple who has achieved the fruitfulness of their lives. He crossed river Yamuna
and took a bath in the dark waters of the Yamuna that has a close resemblance to his
limbs. The people living close to the riverbank heard the news of the arrival of
handsome princes of Ayodhya, soon they left their work, and family and rushed
to meet the Lord, they behold the beauty of Rama, Lakshman, and Devi Sita, and
praised their fortune. Their hearts were brimming with love and devotion, but
they were shy to enquire the name and details of the visitors. The wise ones
recognized the supreme Bhramam personified as Rama the son of Dasaratha, further
they described the virtues of Lord Sri Ramachandra who sincerely followed the
command of his father and abandoned all the stately pleasures and proceeded to
the woods. The people who listened to the legend of Rama were grieved and lamented
“The decision of the King and the Queen are not a fair one to their children.” In
the meantime, there arrived a saint who has a great effulgence, young and
charming appearance. His actions were difficult to describe for the poet, he
was attired in a saffron robe, lived a life of a hermit, and was a great devotee of Rama
by words, actions, and thoughts.
