Sri Ramacharitha Manas – Sri Tulsidas Maharaj – Bala Kanda – Lord Mahadeva describes the splendor of all-pervasive supreme Bhramam to the deities

Chapter – 178– Sri Ramacharitha Manas – Bala Kanda - Lord Mahadeva describes the splendor of all-pervasive supreme Bramham to the deities

The mother Earth accompanied by the deities, Sages, Rishis, and Gandharvas approached Lord Bhrama and revealed her anguish about life on Earth. Lord Bhrama who have already aware of the grief of mother Earth was disheartening to watch her in a wretched state, answered pitifully “Oh! Devi Dharani, I am helpless to speak anything, the supreme Lord who is your beloved Lord, the preserver of the Universe, is the only one who can protect you and all of us. Oh! Devi, contemplate upon the lotus feet of Lord Sri Hari and have patience. He will not let his devotees in trouble, he can’t bear to watch his devotees in distress, mercilessly punished by these demons, he is the only one who can put an end to these sufferings once for all.” Soon a meeting of the deities, Rishis, and Sages was conducted, discussed the need for a meeting with Lord Sri Hari, no one has a clear idea of the dwelling place of Lord Hari, some said they can meet him in Sri Vaikunda, someone said they can meet him in the milky ocean, others said he resides in the hearts of pious souls who have pure love and devotion at his lotus feet. Lord Mahadeva spoke “Oh! Girija, I was also present in the assembly of the deities, hence I have kept forward my opinion that the supreme Bhramam is omniscient, omnipresent, omnipotent, therefore there is not an inch in the Universe is absent from his presence. Lord Sri Hari is the supreme Bhramam, Lord of living and non-living things, he is the essence of Universe, and Veda, although the supreme Bhramam remains unblemished, pure, changeless, eternal, free from afflictions. He is Lord of Maya/Mayapathi, he is perceivable only with pure love and devotion like the friction ignites the fire. Oh! Girija, all the deities, Rishis and Sages assembled were welcomed my views, applauded in immense pleasure and satisfaction.”

Chapter – 177– Sri Ramacharitha Manas – Bala Kanda - The demon ruled city of Lanka lost belief in scriptures, sacred texts, preceptor, noble-souls, and the twice-born resulted in utter grief and agony – The Mother Earth assumes the form of a divine cow and approach the deities.

Sage Yajjavalkya speaks “Oh! Mune, Japa/recitation of Vedic chants, Yoga, Thapa/austerities and vow, Bairagya/Shamadhamadhi, Magha/fire sacrifices were disappeared, the practice of meditation, fire sacrifices, recitation of sacred texts, the performance of religious and spiritual rites were strictly forbidden in the city of Lanka, if anyone dares to practice would be brought before the king and severe punishments were imposed, and do not let the people live a peaceful life, people were thrashed to death for their practice of Dharma, eventually, the honesty, belief, and righteousness has disappeared from the world, and whoever engaged in Vedic way of living or spiritual and religious practices were punished severely and thrown out of the city. The demons were engaged in all heinous activities, took great pleasure in man slaughtering, and all evil-doings. Immoral activities rose to a great extent due to lack of righteousness, resulted in people stolen the wealth, money, possession, wives of others, engaged in gambling and consumption of intoxicating drinks lost serenity of mind, total chaos was visible all over Kingdom, ultimately the Dharma disappeared from the world. People lost belief in deities, scriptures, and sacred texts lost respect to the preceptor, Mahatmas, parents and elders led a panic-stricken life. Goddess Bhavani, who is the knower of all, consider those who follow immoral deeds, destroy the faith and religions/Varnna and Ashramadharma, which bring imbalance in the life on Earth as demons. The mother Earth felt “The weight of mountains, rivers, and ocean seems to be less oppressive than the demons who engage in immoral deeds, massacre, man-slaughtering, etc..”, she dejectedly watched over the atrocities during the regime of Ravana, yet the fear of him kept her silent for a while, all the Jeevas were perturbed, finally, the mother Earth gathered some courage and took the form of a divine cow and approached the mountain cave where the deities and Sages have taken shelter for a longer period of time. Mother Earth, met them and described the brutalities of Ravana, and the anguish and helpless of the pious people, but none was dared to speak a word.”

Sri Ramacharitha Manas – Sri Tulsidas Maharaj – Bala Kanda – Ravana’s conspiracies to weaken the deities – The disappearance of Dharma caused huge inconsistency in the life on Earth, heaved the lives into extreme agony, anguish, and grief

Chapter – 176– Sri Ramacharitha Manas – Bala Kanda - Ravana’s conspiracies to weaken the deities – The disappearance of Dharma caused huge inconsistency in the life on Earth

Sage Yajjavalkya speaks “Oh! Mune, the ten-faced mighty Ravana conquered the three worlds, left no creature independent, ruled the world as he was desired. In the meantime, Ravana married to several gorgeous women from the clan of Kinnaras, Gandharvas, Yakshas, humans, deities, and celestials.  Indhrajeeth who was the elder son of Ravana has possessed the equivalent might of his father was ever-willing to follow the command of Ravana. The demons were the embodiment of sins, willfully moved through the darkest hours of night, committed all immoral deeds, tormented all the Jeeva confronted with them, using illusionary powers. Eventually, they have put a complete end to the religious and spiritual rites, the Dharmic rites were nowhere to be seen, they ruthlessly hunted down the twice-born, and caused damage to the Vedic way of living, slowly all the cities, and villages where the twice-born occupied were seized, and forbidden all the Vedic rites. The Dharma and virtues disappeared from the Earth completely, beliefs in scriptures and deities were thrashed, reverence to deities, preceptors, and twice-born have vanished once for all. There was no respect to Hari, Guru, Granth, or Santh Mahathma, twice-born, no religious or spiritual rites, fire sacrifices, austerities or vows, or Athmavichara held, people have completely lost interest in reading and listening to sacred texts which heaved the lives into extreme agony, anguish and grief.”

Sri Ramacharitha Manas – Sri Tulsidas Maharaj – Bala Kanda – The brutalities of demon King Ravana

Chapter – 175– Sri Ramacharitha Manas – Bala Kanda - The atrocities of demon King Ravana

Ravana spoke “Oh! Dear fellows, if you successfully cease the religious and spiritual rites, fire sacrifices, etc. the deities get weaker, lose the strength to fight with us, will soon surrender to me. Afterward, I could decide whether to free them or punish them, as I have always desired.”  Ravana addressed his mighty son Meghanatha “Oh! Vathsa, I would like to see your skill in the battle with the deities, even though these deities are super-powered, skilled in the usage of armaments, unconquerable on the battlefields, I would love to watch them fastened by the heavy chains, and brought before me.” Meghanatha reverentially bowed before his father and left, prepared for the battle against the deities, and followed by the numerous dreadful demons with various vicious weapons in their hands. The ten-headed Ravana haughtily walked quivering the Earth and three worlds, which caused the female deities to lose their fetus. The deities abandoned their abode and took shelter in the caves on Mount Sumeru. Thus, the mighty Ravana conquered all the marvelous realms in ten directions, did not stop the hunger for slaughter, or satisfied of his possession, he called for battle with the deities, did not stop chase for opponents, did not find anyone who has possessed competent might to fight with him. Further, he captured Rabi/Sun, Sasi/Surya, Pavana/Lord Vayu, Baruna/Lord Varuna, Dhanadhari/Lord Kubera, Lord Agni, Lord Yama, etc.  he chased after Kinnaras, Siddhas, Manushya, Devatha, Nagas, etc. put everyone’s life under threat. All the creations of Lord Bhrama were under constant fear and anguish, seized by the Ravana, and tortured to death. All the deities were tortured, humiliated, imprisoned, and forced to serve at his feet.

Sri Ramacharitha Manas – Sri Tulsidas Maharaj – Bala Kanda – Ravana orders his men to put an end to Dharmic rites, spiritual and religious rites, and fire sacrifices to weaken the deities

Chapter – 174– Sri Ramacharitha Manas – Bala Kanda - Ravana orders his men to put an end to Dharmic rites, spiritual and religious rites, and fire sacrifices to weaken the deities

Ravana has possessed a huge army of warriors, comprises Kumukha/appalling appearance, Akampana/quivers the Earth, Kulisaradha/has the teeth resembled thunderbolt, Dhoomakethu/resembled fireball, Athikaya/gigantic stature, who has possessed dreadful looks and immense might were unconquerable in the battlefields capable to subjugate the world. These demons were skilled in illusionary powers, have no kindness, compassion not even in their dreams. Once, Ravana called out for an important meeting, all the members of the clan of demons, attendants, army men, the troop of demons, sons, and grandsons of Ravana, people holding the high rank in the Kingdom was present in the grand assembly hall, watching the huge number of guests and family, Ravana swollen with pride spoke “Oh! Dear fellows, be prepared yourself to battle against the deities who are our permanent enemies, have no might like us, they are powerless cannot confront us, often flee from the battlefields. Listen to me carefully, there is only a way to make them frailer, so that they can’t stand before us.  The deities achieve their might and prowess from the Dharmic rites, the first thing we have to make sure to cease them permanently so that they will not receive any oblations from the fire sacrifices, Shraddha, or religious rites, it will lead to continuous starvation, hence immediately put an end to all the Dharmic rites, Vedic rites, fire sacrifices, religious and spiritual rites/Shraddha, so that it would be easy to conquer the deities.”

Chapter – 173– Sri Ramacharitha Manas – Bala Kanda - The splendor of demon King Ravana

Sage Yajjavalkya speaks “Oh! Mune, the valor of Ravana was well-known to three worlds, he was too proud of his might and grown arrogant, enthusiastically approached Mount Kailash, and made a failing effort to elevate the Mount. Ravana achieved immense wealth, fame, offspring, a huge army of men, won many battles, expanded his Kingdom, every day turned out to be most promising to him, his might and intelligence got the attention of the whole Universe, thus he has achieved remarkable growth of possession, wealth, richness, fame, etc., on the other hand, his arrogance and self-love grown out of reach. His brother Kumbhakarnna buried himself into a deep sleep for six months, after consuming voraciously for six months, harassing the deities and Rishis and Sages while he was awake. The world quivered while gets out of the sleep possessed gigantic form and the might of several thousands of worriers.  If he was awake for a whole year, the Universe would have emptied with no grains. Meghanatha who is the elder son of Ravana possessed equal might of his father, charming and, skillful in the war field, was a renowned warrior, unconquerable in the battlefields, hence the deities found difficult to surpass the might of him.”

Sri Ramacharitha Manas – Sri Tulsidas Maharaj – Bala Kanda – Ravana captures the stunning fortresses on the peak of Chitrakoot and the Pushpakavimana/flower chariot owned by Kubera

Chapter – 172– Sri Ramacharitha Manas – Bala Kanda - Ravana captures the stunning fortresses on the peak of Chitrakoot and the Pushpakavimana/flower chariot owned by Kubera

Sage Yajjavalkya speaks “Oh! Mune, the stunning fortress on the peak of Chithrakoot was surrounded by a vast ocean, stood as a stronghold, unapproachable to enemies. The beauty of the fortresses constructed with precious gem and gold was beyond description. This is the fortress where the illustrious King of demons of different periods of time lived with their army men and took great pleasure in the luxuries, which were preordained by Lord Hari. These magnificent fortresses were occupied by the most powerful demon Kings who were exterminated by deities in the battle. Previously, it was occupied by Yaksha Lord Kubera with ten million army men, ordained by Lord Indra. Ravana came to know about the splendor of this fortress, approached the Yakshas with his multitudes of army men, defeated them, and took over the possession of the fortress. Thus, Ravana confiscated the stunning Kingdom of Kubera, took a detailed inspection of the magnificent city, immediately all his anxiousness flew away. Shortly, Ravana with his entire clan moved to the glorious fortresses which are inaccessible, declared as the capital city, the entire region of Lanka was occupied by his men and ruled it as he desired. Later, Ravana came to know about the marvelous Pushpakavimana/flower chariot of Kubera, made of ever-fresh flowers of alluring with rich scent, competent to pick and drop at passenger’s mind voice, and capable to minimize and maximize its size according to the number of passengers. Ravana did not wait too long, conducted a chase with his army men after Kubera, and confiscated that flower chariot too.”
