Chapter – 26– Sri Ramacharitha Manas – Sundara
Kanda– The demons set fire on the tail of Hanuman caused chaos in the city of
Lanka
Ravana spoke wickedly “You know, Vanaras
are fond of their tail, they take immense pride in it, so set fire on his tail,
add some oiled rags on his tail and set fire, the Vanara will return to its Master
without its tail bring shame to him. So that I could see his Master’s might as
well.” Hanuman smiled at heart and thought “Goddess Sarada played her trick on
the tongue of Ravana and it would be helpful for me.” Soon the demons brought
ragged clothes dipped in oil, tied around the tail of Hanuman, as soon as they
began to put hands on the tail of Hanuman, it started to grow bigger and bigger
in size, thus the ghee, oil, clothes were become not enough, they started to
feel the scarcity of the materials to set fire on the tail of Hanuman who
playfully kept increasing the length of his tail. The people of Lanka assembled
around the huge Vanara and took pleasure in physically abusing him. They set
fire on the tail of Hanuman, took him all over the city accompanied by
drumbeats, and several demons. Hanuman looked at his tail that was enough to
set fire in the whole city, slipped out of the hands of the demons, leaped on
the golden fortresses and stunning pleasure gardens at a great speed which
caused chaos among the demons.
