Kanda – Devi Parvathi returns to the abode of Mount Himavan after the penance –
The atrocities of demon Tharaka
Sage Yajjavalkya speaks “The Saptharishis reverentially
prostrated before Jagadambika Bhavani Devi Parvathi and spoke “Oh! Jagathjanani
you are that inseparable Maya/female force of Lord Mahadeva who is Jagathpitha,
Jagathmatha, and whose lotus feet are worshiped and sung in praise by the
illustrious Yogis and Munis repeatedly.” The Saptharishis left the Himalayas and brought Mount Himavan with his King’s men to take Devi Parvathi to his
abode with due respect. The Saptharishis met Lord Shiva and described the
staunch devotion of Devi Parvathi, after listening to her steadfastness, pure love, and devotion, Lord Mahadeva felt extremely pleased, raptured in the love of
Devi Parvathi. The supreme Lord Mahadeva who is unconquerable, wise, and
learned, immersed in meditation and contemplation of Lord of Raghus. During this
period, there was a powerful demon Tharaka underwent severe austerities and Tapasya,
achieved several boons, became haughty began to harass the deities and Rishis,
eventually, he conquered all the spheres on the three worlds. The deities lost
glories and flee from their abode, helplessly fought against the dreadful demon was failed miserably. The deities approached
Lord Bhrama and appealed to put an end to the demon Tharaka and his atrocities.”
