Sri Ramacharitha Manas – Sri Tulsidas Maharaj – Lanka Kanda – Angadha invites demons for the display of their might in the assembly of Ravana

Chapter - 34– Sri Ramacharitha Manas – Lanka Kanda – Angadha invites demons for the display of their might in the assembly of Ravana

Angadha spoke fervently “Oh! Dhashakanda, how did you call Lord Rama is mortal, even after he killed Vali with the single shot of arrow?. You are blind even after possessing twenty eyes, your birth is vain, you are a curse on your mother’s womb. Oh! Wicked, Rama’s powerful arrows are hungry of your blood, hence I am leaving you unhurt, I am well capable to tackle your arrogance, but I haven’t received the permission of the Lord to smack your face. My anger is enough to cut off your ten heads and hurl your city of Lanka into the ocean. Your Lanka is like the fruit of an Udumbara tree, it is the dwelling place of unruly and haughty demons. I am a Vanara, I don’t need much time to scatter you all, but I have not obtained permission from the compassionate Lord Sri Ramachandra.” Ravana smiled and spoke sarcastically “Oh!  Vanara, where did you learn to praise your might? Vali was not like you. I think the association with those two hermits made you attention-seeker.” Angadha was extremely infuriated stepped in the middle of the assembly “Oh! Fool, I am a boaster, Oh! Demon with twenty arms, let me see the might of your arms if you are strong enough to move my foot if so, I promise you Rama and his entire army of Vanaras and bears will return without Devi Sita.” Ravana shrieked in anger, “Oh! Demons, seize the Vanara, seize on his leg and thrash him on the ground.” Soon, Indrajeeth and several mighty demons approached Angadha and tried all their tricks to move Angadha’s foot that was firmly set on the middle of the assembly, after sometimes they returned to their seats with their head hung down. The enemies of deities, the demons approached Angadha in large numbers were failed miserably and returned to their seats. Sage Kakabhusundi speaks “Oh! Garuda, the ill-fated, wicked, haughty, and deceitful could not uproot the tree of pure devotion in the heart of Angadha.”

Sri Ramacharitha Manas – Sri Tulsidas Maharaj – Lanka Kanda – Angadha’s harsh speech in the assembly of Ravana

Chapter - 33– Sri Ramacharitha Manas – Lanka Kanda – Angadha’s harsh speech in the assembly of Ravana

The son of Lord Vayu, Hanuman gathered those sparkling gems from the sky, and produced it before Lord Sri Ramachandra. The Vanaras and bears stood astounded watching the dazzling beauty of the crown pieces, on the other side, Ravana was felt humiliated by Angada, shrieked out in anger to his attendants, while Angadha stood smiling at him “Don’t leave the wicked Vanara, cease him and kill him. Don’t leave this Vanara, after that proceed to kill all those Vanaras and bears marched towards Lanka. Go and capture all the Vanara and bears, and devour them. It is my order, capture the two hermits alive, and bring them before my assembly.” Angadha was infuriated “Oh! Fool, aren’t you ashamed of your arrogance and ignorance? you are the destroyer of your clan, your heart did not get troubled watching my might? You are the storehouse of sins, lust, desire, ego, pride, jealousy, Ahamkara, and Mamakara. You have set eyes on the wife of a stranger, you have stolen her in the absence of her husband, you are out of mind, the death is hanging above your head. Oh! Wicked demon, you will reap the fruits of your vicious deeds, soon the mighty army of Vanaras and bears would punish you for that, I wonder your speech did not stop when you have uttered ‘Rama is mortal’, your tongue did not twist while speaking nonsense about the Lord. It is definite that your tongue along with your heads rolls on the battlefield.”

Sri Ramacharitha Manas – Sri Tulsidas Maharaj – Lanka Kanda – Angadha creates chaos in the assembly of Ravana

Chapter - 32– Sri Ramacharitha Manas – Lanka Kanda – Angadha creates chaos in the assembly of Ravana

Ravana speaks “Oh! Vanara, your Lord Sri Ramachandra has no noble qualities or self-respect, that’s why his father King Dhasharatha exiled him from the Kingdom of Ayodhya, apart from that he is besieged with extreme agony of separation from his consort, and terror of mine. Do you know the demons devour humans’ day and night, so don’t be so proud of your Master?” Angadha could not control his rage, whoever listens to the criticism of Lord Hari or Lord Hara, would get afflicted with the sin of Gohathya/killing cows, soon Angadha burst out a loud shriek, and thrashed both of his arms on the ground, instantly the Earth quivered, the ministers seated on the thrones were taken a flight on the air, demons were horror-stricken created a huge chaos in the assembly. The ten-headed Ravana toppled on the floor was regained his strength and managed to stand straight, his marvelous crown and the gems scattered all over the floor, he picked up a few of them, and Angadha gathered some of the pieces and flew away from the assembly. The Vanaras on the seashore witnessed the sparkling gems on the sky and doubted it was meteoroids, in utter confusion watching the dazzling beauty of the gems on the sky. They even suspected that the demon King must have hurled thunderbolts like weapons on his enemies. Lord Sri Ramachandra smiled at the Vanaras and pacified them “Oh! Dear, do not worry, it is not meteoroids or thunderbolt, or Rahu or Kethu, it was the parts of the crown of Ravana hurled by Vali’s son.”

Chapter - 31– Sri Ramacharitha Manas – Lanka Kanda – Angadha speaks about the fourteen types of Jeeva considered as dead alive

Angadha speaks “Oh! Dhashanan, listen I can easily thrash you on the ground, destroy your army of demons and Lanka, and take away Devi Sita along with all your wives. Even if I kill you, that is not going to bring any fame to me, it won’t be considered as an act of valor. Oh! Dhashanan, there are fourteen types of Jeeva considered as dead alive 1) Jeeva who is engaged in the unwarranted act as a practice of worship 2) a miser who hoards wealth without utilizing for Dharmic deeds 3) lustful Jeeva 4) a sinner 5) ignorant 6) utterly destitute 7) unfortunate 8) an elderly and sick 9) Person who gets angry without reason 10) disbeliever of Lord Hari and Hara 11) disbeliever in Veda, scriptures, saints, Bhramins 12) selfish and extremely body-conscious 13) person who impose troubles on others and 14) a penniless person. Oh! Fool, this is one of the reasons I spare you without killing, do not try to rouse my anger.” Ravana could not control his anger, crushed his teeth, banged his fist, and shrieked “Oh! Vanara, you are speaking harsh words with the support of your Lord whomever you believe as valorous, and intelligent, alas! he is neither courageous nor wise.”

Chapter - 30– Sri Ramacharitha Manas – Lanka Kanda – Angadha advises Ravana to stop gibberish talks and take shelter at the feet of Lord Raghu

Angadha speaks “Oh! Fool, moth dies in the fire due to their infatuation, and the donkeys carry loads on their back cannot be termed as heroes, listen to me, leave your arrogance and pride, I haven’t come to make a peace treaty with you, I am a messenger of Lord Sri Ramachandra, it was the compassionate Lord advised to think over your wicked deeds, and get rid of your anxiousness. The lions do not earn fame by killing Jackal, remember this word of Lord Raghu, and leave your animosity against him that’s favorable for your entire clan. Oh! Wicked, I remember the saying of Lord Raghu that’s why I spare you for your nonsense talks, otherwise I would have smacked your face and taken back Devi Sita safely to Ragu. Oh! Dhashanan, I have perfectly measured your might when you have abducted Jagathjanani Paramba Bhagavathi Devi Sita while Lord Sri Ramachandra was away from her, you are Lord of demons, I am a messenger and sincere servant of Lord Raghu, If I was not afraid of overruling the advice of Lord of Raghu, I would have given befitting answer for your misconduct.”

Chapter - 29– Sri Ramacharitha Manas – Lanka Kanda – Angadha gets irritating listening to the self-praise of Ravana

Ravana spoke “Oh! Vanara, who has the equal might of mine to fight on the battlefield? I had the courage to chop off my heads and offered in the sacrificial fire to please Gauripathi Lord Shambhu. I have received the boon from Lord Bhrama that I will get killed in the hands of an ordinary human being, I laughed at him knowing that there won’t be a human to kill me, and his prophecies are going to prove false before the world. Yet, you are a fool, keep praising the prince of Ayodhya before me, without any shame or knowledge.” Angadha replied “Yes, I agree there is no one in the Universe shameless as you, be ashamed of your ignorance and arrogance. All that you remember the elevation of Mount Kailash and your heads offered in the sacrificial fire, you have already repeated twenty times before me. You have kept those secrets of the might of your arms while battling against Bali, Vali, and Sahasrabhahu and miserably failed in your attempt to conquer them. Oh! Fool, can anyone become the hero by chopping off heads and offering in the sacrificial fire? A magician cannot be called a hero, even though he performs different hacks before the audience.”

Sri Ramacharitha Manas – Sri Tulsidas Maharaj – Lanka Kanda – Ravana gets annoyed listening to the praise of Lord Sri Ramachandra

Chapter - 28– Sri Ramacharitha Manas – Lanka Kanda – Ravana gets annoyed listening to the praise of Lord Sri Ramachandra

Ravana shrieked in anger “Oh! Vanara, you haven’t heard of my might with that I have conquered all the animate and inanimate things in this Universe, or my brother Kumbhakarnna, who has the large ears resemble pot or my son mighty Meghanatha who crushed the pride of Lord Indra. Oh! Fool, your Master Lord Sri Ramachandra constructed a bridge across the ocean with the help of Vanaras, do you call it the valor of your Lord? There are several species of birds that fly across the ocean, all of them cannot be heroes. Oh! Vanara listens to me, I have possessed twenty arms which has the might of the ocean, and I have crushed many deities and noble souls beneath it. Who has the valor to cross these twenty unfathomable oceans like my powerful arms? I have employed the guardians of eight directions to serve me, Oh! Fool, you are praising an ordinary human being, the prince of Ayodhya before me. Listen Vanara, if your Lord is capable to meet me on the battlefield why did he choose to send messengers from time to time? Is he ashamed to make terms with his enemy? Look at my powerful arms that elevated the Mount Kailasha the abode of Lord Shambhu, and you can praise your Master at your heart's content.”
