Chapter - 33– Sri Ramacharitha Manas –
Lanka Kanda – Angadha’s harsh speech in the assembly of Ravana
The son of Lord Vayu, Hanuman gathered
those sparkling gems from the sky, and produced it before Lord Sri Ramachandra.
The Vanaras and bears stood astounded watching the dazzling beauty of the crown
pieces, on the other side, Ravana was felt humiliated by Angada, shrieked out
in anger to his attendants, while Angadha stood smiling at him “Don’t leave the
wicked Vanara, cease him and kill him. Don’t leave this Vanara, after that
proceed to kill all those Vanaras and bears marched towards Lanka. Go and
capture all the Vanara and bears, and devour them. It is my order, capture the
two hermits alive, and bring them before my assembly.” Angadha was infuriated
“Oh! Fool, aren’t you ashamed of your arrogance and ignorance? you are the
destroyer of your clan, your heart did not get troubled watching my might? You are
the storehouse of sins, lust, desire, ego, pride, jealousy, Ahamkara, and Mamakara.
You have set eyes on the wife of a stranger, you have stolen her in the absence
of her husband, you are out of mind, the death is hanging above your head. Oh! Wicked
demon, you will reap the fruits of your vicious deeds, soon the mighty army of Vanaras
and bears would punish you for that, I wonder your speech did not stop when you
have uttered ‘Rama is mortal’, your tongue did not twist while speaking
nonsense about the Lord. It is definite that your tongue along with your heads
rolls on the battlefield.”
