Lanka Kanda – The demon Kalanemi advises Ravana to leave hostility towards Lord
Sri Ramachandra
Sushena rushed to Rama, and prostrated
before the lotus feet of the Lord. He advised the herb and its availability as well;
he spoke to Hanuman “Oh! Vayuputhra hurry to the Mountain and bring the herb
immediately” soon Hanuman darted to the direction of the Mountain,
contemplating upon the lotus feet of Lord Sri Ramachandra. In the meantime, the
spies of Ravana understood the state of affairs in the camp of Rama was duly
reported to Ravana, who in turn summoned the demon Kalanemi and informed the journey of Hanuman to collect
herbs to save the life of Lakshman, but Kalanemi was not willing to follow
Dhashanan, he bet his head in regret, and advised Ravana “Oh! Friend, no one
can obstruct the mighty Vanara, Hanuman who burnt your city Lanka into ashes
before your eyes. Therefore, leave your animosity against that Lord Sri
Ramachandra and restore peace in your kingdom, otherwise all your efforts will
go in vain. Oh! Friend, leave your hostility towards Lord Sri Ramachandra who is
the source of supreme bliss, has marvelous appearance, lotus like eyes, and beautiful
limbs, Oh! Friend, leave your lust, desire, anger, ego, pride, jealousy, Ahamkara
and Mamakara, leave your interest in worldly matters, body consciousness, and
bondage, can you conquer the supreme Lord who is the essence of Time, devour
the Universe and its animate and inanimate things?”
