Chapter – 39– Sri Ramacharitha Manas –
Ayodhya Kanda– Sumanthra, the chief of the Minister and Charioteer brings Rama to the chamber of the King
Devi Kaikeyi spoke in utter dislike “Oh!
Sumanthra, the King had no sleep yesterday night, he was all awake and God only
knows the reason for it. He has been calling out for Rama several times till
the daybreak and was not willing to speak anything to me. Therefore, bring
Rama immediately so that we will come to know what he really intends to speak.”
Sumanthra looked at the King as if seeking permission to leave, which was approved by
the Lord of Ayodhya. Sumanthra left to the fortress of Rama and Devi Sita, on
his way he could not understand a single thing, the King is in grief-stricken,
and motionless, he could barely speak anything to Rama, the situation of the
King is appalling to watch. Sumanthra became inconsolable, the ministers and
attendants who met him were anxiously waiting to receive the news of the King. Sumanthra
approached the chamber of Jewel of the Raghu clan, Rama was received with great
honor, considered Sumanthara as equal to his father. Sumanthra informed Rama about
the King who wanted to see him immediately and he has something important message
to deliver, soon Sumanthra and Rama returned to the chamber where the King
Dasaratha was settled, on their way, all the attendants and ministers were found
perplexed watching at Sumanthra and Rama.
