Chapter – 118 – Sri Ramacharitha Manas – Bala Kanda – The vicious battle between Tripurari and Jalandhara – Maharishi Narada’s curse on Lord Hari

Sage Yajjavalky speaks “Oh! Mune, Lord Vishnu annulled the vow of chastity of Devi Bhrinda which multiplies the prowess of Jalandhara, he assumed the form of Jalandhara and appeared before her to weaken the demon, thus reinstated peace among the deities by killing Jalandhara. Devi Bhrinda realized the pretense of Lord Hari, became inconsolable, and cursed Lord Hari who accepted the curse of Devi Bhrinda graciously. Further, the demon Jaladhara took birth as Ravana and achieved liberation in a vicious battle with the Lord Sri Ramachandra. The incarnation of Lord Hari was sung in a different manner by the intellectuals and learned in each Kalpa. Oh! Bharadhwaja, it was one of the occasions Maharishi Narada cursed Lord Hari, was added reason for the personification of Rama. Devi Girija was shocked to listen to it from Mahadeva enquired in utter awe “Oh! Prabho, the illustrious sage Maharishi Narada is a fervent devotee of Lord Hari, why did he do that? What was the offense? what was the fault of Lord Lakshmiramana? Kindly describe them elaborately. Oh! Purari, it is strange, but the Sage must have fallen prey to Vishanumaya.”

Chapter – 117 – Sri Ramacharitha Manas – Bala Kanda – Hiranyaksha and Hiranyakashipu born as Ravana and Kumbhakarna

Lord Mahadeva speaks “Oh! Devi, the two demons Hiranyaksha and Hiranyakashipu was killed by Lord Hari were taken birth as the most powerful and valiant Dhashanan/Ravana and Kumbhakarna, underwent extreme Tapasya and achieved great prowess, eventually, they have conquered the three worlds and seized the abode of the deities. The demons Hiranyaksha and Hiranyakashipu got killed by Lord Hari did not achieve liberation due to the curse of Sanakadhis, had to take birth thrice to get rid of the curse.  Lord Hari personified as the son of King Dasaratha and Devi Kausalya, who was Sage Kage Kashyapa and Devi Adhithi in the previous life.  Sage Kashyapa and Adhithi conducted several penances yearning to achieve that supreme Lord Hari as their child. Thus, in the Thretha Yuga, Lord Hari personified as Lord Rama to this couple who have personified as Dhasharatha and Kaushalya and performed various amusements on the Earth. There was another occasion, the demon Jalandhara harassed the deities, and Sages were appealed to Lord Shambhu. Tripurari fought against the demon Jalandhara for several thousands of years, because he has possessed immense prowess from the chastity of his wife Brindha, hence the mighty Lord Tripurari found it difficult to kill Jalandhara.”

Lord Mahadeva speaks “ Oh! Devi, the purpose of the incarnation of the Supreme Lord Hari as Rama, as the son of King Dasaratha and Devi Kausalya are to reinstate the belief in Veda and scriptures, destroy the wicked demons, and restore the Dharma. The Supreme Lord Hari incarnated for the welfare of the Jeeva, hence, whoever sings in praise of the legends of Lord Sri Ramachandra would get rid of the sufferings and grief of Samsara and the vicious cycles of rebirth. There are several objectives added to the incarnation of Lord Rama, and each one is equally significant to know, I shall narrate them all, listen to me carefully. Oh! Bhavani, Oh! Intellectual one, once the two Dwarapalaks/sincere attendants Jaya and Vijaya, were cursed by the illustrious Sanakadhis, for their misdemeanor. They took birth in the Yoni of demons achieved the birth of demon Hiranyaksha and Hiranyakashipu. These two brothers were conducted various austerities and extreme penance and achieved several boons from Lord Bhrama, soon they have acquired immense prowess started harassing the deities and Rishis, the whole Universe was under intense disorder caused by these haughty demons. Hiranyaksha concealed the mother Earth in the bottomless ocean, Lord Hari incarnated as wild boar and fought against Hiranyaksha, killed the demon in the vicious battle, and retrieved the mother Earth. The demon Hiranyakashipu got killed by the half-lion and half-man incarnation of Lord Hari, while retaliating Prahladha, the child devotee of supreme Lord Hari.”

Chapter – 115 – Sri Ramacharitha Manas – Bala Kanda – Lord Shankara describes the objective of the incarnation of Lord Hari as Rama

The supreme Lord Shankara who symbolizes auspiciousness, Kamari the destroyer of cupid of love, was highly pleased with the devotion of Devi Parvathi, he highly praised Devi Uma who raised brilliant questions for the welfare of the Universe, and the Prabhu Kripalu Lord Shankara began to speak “Oh! Bhavani, listen to me carefully, the Ramacharithamanasa comprises the glorious legend of Lord Sri Rama is the purifier, which was described by Sage Kakabhusundi to the King of birds Garuda, I shall explain the reason why did the dialogue took place between them, and the marvelous legends of Rama as well.   Lord Hari is Anantha/eternal and Harikatha is Anantha as well. The glories of Lord Hari incarnated as Rama is endless, yet I shall describe them according to my intellectual capacity, kindly listen to them carefully with utmost reverence. Oh! Girija, the Veda and scriptures/Nigama Agamashasthras highly praises the endless virtues of Lord Hari, yet the purpose of the incarnation of Hari as Rama is not precise, Oh! Intelligent one, the supreme Lord Rama is beyond mind, words, and deeds, although I shall describe all those, I have heard from the intellectuals Rishis and sages. Oh! Varanane/beautiful faced one, I shall describe the reason for the incarnation that was stated in the Veda and scriptures according to my knowledge, listen to me, 1) whenever the truthfulness and righteousness disappear from the Earth, the supreme Bhramam incarnates at his own will to destroy the wickedness and evilness, and reinstate the Dharma. 2) whenever the virtues and morality decline, and the haughty and arrogant demons rule over the Earth, the supreme Bhramam incarnates to destroy them.  Finally, 3) Whenever the cows, Santh, Mahathma, noble-souls, and Bhramana/twice-born are in trouble, the supreme Lord incarnate to reinstate Dharma, and restore the peace.”

Devi Girija with folded hands, heart full of devotion, spoke nectar-like sweet words “Oh! Prabho, I have thoroughly enjoyed listening to the words that resembled cool rays of the moon that removed my qualms, and misconceptions like the scorching heat of the sun. Oh! Kripalu, you have removed my wrong perception about the supreme Bhramam incarnated as Lord Rama, I feel elated, and I have got rid of all my anxiousness and grief, Oh! Prabho, I shall repeatedly prostrate at your lotus feet, kindly consider me as your sincere servant, forgive my faults, as I was born as a woman, ignorant by nature, if you are pleased with my devotion, kindly answer to my next question. Oh! Prabho, I have thoroughly understood that the supreme Bhramam incarnated as the Lord of Raghu's is eternal bliss, free from afflictions, indestructible Purusha, sinless, changeless, and he is Sacchidhanandhaswaroopa Paramathma resides as a soul in the Jeeva, knower of all. Oh! Shankara, kindly narrate to me why did the supreme Bhramam incarnate on the Earth?” Lord Shiva was highly pleased to note the staunch devotion of Devi Uma at the lotus feet of Lord Sri Ramachandra.

Sri Ramacharitha Manas – Sri Tulsidas Maharaj – Bala Kanda – Lord Sri Ramachandra born as the son of King Dhasharatha and Devi Kausalya is the supreme Bhramam eulogized by Veda and scriptures– The significance of Ramanama

Chapter – 113 – Sri Ramacharitha Manas – Bala Kanda – Lord Sri Ramachandra born as the son of King Dhasharatha and Devi Kausalya is the supreme Bhramam eulogized by Veda and scriptures – The significance of Ramanama

Lord Shiva speaks “Oh! Devi, the Kosalapathi Lord Sri Ramachandra is eulogized by Veda, intellectuals, wise, Santhbhrindh, Munibrindh, therefore the Raghukulamani who is the Lord of Ayodhya, born as the son of King Dhasharatha and Devi Kausalya is the supreme Bramham is sought after by Rishis and Sages with the practice of meditation and contemplation. Oh! Devi, the Jeeva whoever leaves mortal coil in the sacred land Kasi, I whisper the Tharakamanthra/Ramanama into their ear to get them liberated from the Samsara. Lord Raghuvara is Antharyami, he is my beloved Lord, his sacred name ‘Rama’ is capable to liberate the Jeeva from the repeated births. The Supreme Lord Rama is all-pervasive Bhramam resides as a soul in the Jeeva is the knower of all. The mere utterance of his name ‘Ra Ma’ would dispel the sins committed in several births and miseries of Samsara, whoever constantly recite the Ramanama would easily cross the ocean of Samsara as if the water-filled footprints of the cows. Oh! Bhavani, your perception about that supreme Bhramam is a delusion, and it's unwarranted as well. The moment Jeeva suspects the very existence of supreme Bhramam, all the wisdom, virtues, and piousness would bid farewell to them.” Devi Parvathi after listening to the stunning revelations by the supreme Lord Mahadeva, all her illusions disappeared, soon an overwhelming sense of devotion at the lotus feet of Lord Sri Ramachandra/Lord of Raghu sprouted in her heart.

Sri Ramacharitha Manas – Sri Tulsidas Maharaj – Bala Kanda – Jagath Mithya Bhrama Sathyam – Prakrithi and material matters of impermanent nature causes grief in the Samsara

Chapter – 112 – Sri Ramacharitha Manas – Bala Kanda – Jagath Mithya Bhrama Sathyam – Prakrithi and material matters of impermanent nature causes grief in the Samsara

Lord Shiva speaks “Oh! Devi, the presence of eternal Purusha as a soul in the Jeeva makes them experience the seashells as silver, and the mirage/the sunlight causes the reflection of water in the desert/Mrigathrishna, and none of the creatures are free from the Maya of Mayapati. The whole Universe is an illusion/Jagath Mithya Bhrama Sathyam, all those infinite Nama Roopa Dhrishya are delusion causes grief and agony in the Jeeva due to its impermanent nature as in the state of dream, the person gets rid of trepidation caused by the nightmares as soon as gets out of sleep. As long as the Jeeva continues to live drenched in Maya, getting attached to worldly matters, possession, wealth, money, fame, richness, family, children, relatives, and companion that has fleeting nature, the sufferings of the Samsara continue to exists.  The moment Jeeva achieve the knowledge of self’ Paramarththa Thaththva, all the material matters, and Prakrithi is destructible, and the soul is indestructible Purusha Paramthma, soon the interest in worldly matters gets washed-out, the sufferings and grief of Samsaras also cease to exist. Oh! Girija, the grace of compassionate Lord Sri Rama would dispel the delusion in the Jeeva and provides the knowledge of Paramarththa. The Veda eulogizes the supreme Lord Rama as eternal bliss, has neither beginning nor end is the all-pervasive Bhramam which has no specific appearances performs supernatural tasks, free from impurities, changeless, pure, and his glories are beyond description.”
