Chapter - 34– Sri Ramacharitha Manas – Uththara Kanda – The illustrious Sanakadhis eulogizes Lord Sri Ramachandra

 

Lord Sri Ramachandra spoke “Oh! Mahathma,  Oh! Sanakadhis, the illustrious Sages, Rishis, Veda, and scriptures highly emphasize the association with the Santh, Mahathma noble souls as the gateway to emancipation, while the unfortunate Jeevas drenched in the worldly matters, and interest in material things such as possession, fame, richness, money, wealth, children, wife, relatives and companions, etc. soaked in Kama, Krodha, Lobha, Moha, Madha, Mathshcharya, Ahamkara, and Mamakara, pave their way to repeated births, and constant sufferings from Thapathraya/Adhidheivik, Adhibhauthik, and Adhyathmik.” The Sanakadhis were highly pleased to listen to Lord Rama, their bodily hairs stood upright, drenched in pure love and devotion, began to eulogize Rama “Victory to supreme Lord Sri Ramachandra! Victory to Lord Anantha !  Victory to Mayapathi who is free from Maya, inseparable from Maya, unblemished, pure, free from afflictions, changeless, has neither birth nor death, reside as a soul in the Jeeva,  Oh! Karunamaya, Victory to the supreme Lord Sri Ramachandra, who is free from attributes/Sathvik, Rajasik, and Thamasik, Oh! Gunasagara/ocean of virtues, Victory to you! Oh! Prabho, you are the symbol of auspiciousness, beauty, prosperity, richness, and welfare, Oh! Indhiraramana, Victory to you! Oh! Anantha, bearer of the Universe, Victory to you! Oh! Prabho, you are all-pervasive Bhramam eulogized by the Veda and scriptures, Oh! Bhoodhara, Victory to you! You are omnipresent Bhramam which is the source of the functioning of Prana, mind, intellect, Chiththa, Ahamkara, Karma, and Gnanendhriyas. Oh! Prabho, whoever worships you would get rid of illusion, and ignorance. Oh! Prabho, you are Mayapathi, free from Maya, you have infinite sacred names, you are beyond description, Oh! Prabho, you represent the animate and inanimate things in the Universe, Oh! Rama, the devotion at your lotus feet would remove the sufferings and grief of worldly existence, and liberate the Jeeva from the Garbhavasa Dhukham/repeated births. Oh! Prabho, kindly eradicate our sufferings and interest in worldly matters.”

The illustrious Sanakadhis met Lord Sri Ramachandra on the pleasure garden, soon the Lord bowed before them reverentially, and enquired their welfare, further spread his upper yellow cloth on the grass for the Sanakadhis to be seated. All three brothers and Hanuman prostrated before the Sages who were raptured in a state of bliss witnessing the mesmerizing form of Lord Sri Hari personified as the son of King Kosala, they stood gazing at the marvelous appearance of dark cloud complexioned Lord, without blinking their eyes. Lord Ramachandra repeatedly bowed his head and stood with folded hands before the Sages, watching the pure love and devotion of the Sages, tears were streaming down his cheeks, transported him to a state of bliss, soon it was covered with the hands and the compassionate Lord took a seat closer to the Sages and began to speak compassionately “Oh! Prabho,  Oh! Mahatmas, I am fortunate today, the mere sight of you would remove the sufferings and grief of Samsara, the pieties of several births contribute the association of the Santh, noble souls, Mahatmas, which is the only source to break the chain of repeated births and death.”

The brilliant sun like the virtues, valor, courage, kindness, righteousness, amiability, selflessness, pure love, devotion at the lotus feet of Lord Sri Ramachandra, truthfulness, purity of mind and body, celibacy, non-violence, communal harmony, mutual respect, etc.… grown in abundance in the Ramarajya and it eradicated the impurities of mind such as Kama, Krodha, Moha, Lobha, Moha, Madha, Mathshcharya, Ahamkara, and Mamakara. One day Lord Sri Ramachandra along with his three brothers, and Hanuman visited the pleasure garden, at the same time, the illustrious Sanakadhis who is the embodiment of austerities and penance, has the appearance of children, attired in loin clothes merrily roam all over the Universe in Bhramavichara singing in praise of the Supreme Lord Hari who was personified as the son of Kosala, the supreme ascetics came to meet the Lord perceived the four brothers as the embodiment of Chathurveda/Rig, Yajur, Sama and Atharva Veda. Lord Mahadeva speaks “Oh! Bhavani, the illustrious Sanakadhis, Manasaputhra of Lord Bhrama stayed for a while in the hermitage of Kumbhaja/Sage Agasthya who described the splendor of Lord Sri Ramachandra, it was like the friction produced by rubbing the dried woods, it intensified the  fire of devotion in them.”

The people of Ayodhya sang in praise of Lord Sri Ramachandra, who is extremely kind and compassionate to his devotees. Sage Kakabhusundi speaks “Oh! King of birds, the glories of Lord Sri Ramachandra rose like the brilliant sun that shed light on all the spheres, brought immense delight to the pious and sorrow to the wicked. I shall describe the reason for the grief, and to whom it was painful, 1) the darkness of ignorance, misconceptions, wrong beliefs, were disappeared 2) the owl-like innumerable sins driven out of the life of the people 3) the white lily-like impurities of ego, jealous, pride, anger, lust were disappeared. 4) the influence of Kala and Karma did not afflict the people who were pious and virtuous 5) the thieves like Ahamkara and Mamakara were disappeared 6) the arrogance and ignorance were disappeared, and instead of that the wisdom and supreme knowledge/Oneness-in-all/Jeevathma is Paramathma, like fresh lotus flowers bloomed on the pond of pieties. Oh! Garuda, happiness, contentment, dispassion, Biraga and Bibeka, removes the enemies like grief, sorrows, the pain of separation, etc.”

Chapter - 30– Sri Ramacharitha Manas – Uththara Kanda – The people of Ayodhya eulogizes the splendor of Rama

 

The marvelousness of the city of Ayodhya, and its pleasure gardens, ponds, rivers, huge wells with stairs, and the crystal-clear water in it stole the hearts of sages and deities. The lakes and ponds were clustered with various colors of lotus flowers, resounded with the cooing of various species of birds, and humming bees, the beautiful pleasure gardens were a welcoming sight for the passersby, is it ever possible to describe the glory of Ramarajya under the regime of supreme Bhramam, the bliss personified? The supernatural powers are embodied in the form of happiness and richness in the Ramarajya. The people sang in praise of the virtues and valor of Lord Sri Ramachandra, and they exclaimed “Worship at the lotus feet of Lord Sri Ramachandra, he is the bliss personified, protector of the Universe, he is the essence of auspiciousness, elegance, beauty, richness, amiability, he has attractive blue limbs and marvelous appearance, he has lotus like beautiful blue eyes that would look after his devotees like the eyelids protect the eyes. He is wielded in powerful bow and arrow, unconquerable in the battlefields, he is the delight of Santh and Mahathma like the sun rays causes to blossom the lotus flowers. He resembles the king of birds Garuda that devour the serpent-like untimely death and fear of death. Whoever devoted at the lotus feet of Lord Sri Ramachandra would get rid of impurities of Ahamkara, Mamakara, desire, lust, greed, ego, anger, and jealousy, he is the skillful hunter who destroys the impurities of mind like deer, he resembles the lion that kills the untamed elephant-like arrogance and ignorance, he is the delight of devotees like the sunrays removes the darkness of sorrow and misconception, he resembles the wildfire that engulfs the wicked like the woods. Oh! Mind, why don’t you take shelter at the lotus feet of Lord Sri Ramachandra, the Lord of Raghu along with the Jagathjanani, Jagadamba, Paramba, Bhagavathi Devi Janaki who dispels the grief and sufferings of worldly existence, and ultimately destroy the repeated births. Lord Rama represents the frost that destroys the  mosquitoes like endless desires, he is supreme Bhramam personified as the son of Kosala, he is pure, unblemished, free from afflictions and impurities, changeless, he has neither birth nor death, he is indestructible Purusha, he is the delight of Santh, Mahatmas, and noble souls, reliever of the burden of Mother Earth, and benevolent Lord of Tulsidas.”

The market places in the city of Ayodhya were beyond description, and the things available in the markets were in abundance, difficult to name them, how could the splendor of the abode of Goddess Sri Mahalakshmi describe in words? The wealthy merchants, bankers, were seated majestically on their shops resembled Kuberas, women, and men of all age groups were blissfully moving around the city fearlessly, all have virtues, good conduct, and graceful appearances. On the northern side of the fortress, the sacred river Sarayu was flowing gracefully with her crystal-clear waters, and the beautifully constructed steps leading to water stole the heart of viewers, and there was no trace of trashes anywhere on the ghats. There was a particular area far off from these ghats for the wild animals to quench their thirst, places for the water sport of horses and elephants, there was marvelously constructed ghats exclusively for women, where no men were allowed to take bath, there were stunning ghats for bathing the people of Chathurvarnnyam, on the bank of river Sarayu there were beautiful shrines located in the lovely groves. There were hermitages on the river banks, and the noble souls engaged in the austerities and meditation, Swadhyaya, and these places were clustered with the Tulsi plants nurtured by the Santh and Mahatmas. The city of Ayodhya and the outskirt of the city were equally marvelous, those were beyond words. The stunningly beautiful city of Ayodhya and its pleasure garden, well, rivers, shelter houses, hermitages, river Sarayu, and the woods situated on the river banks were just enough to remove the sins of the viewer.

The fortress of Ayodhya decorated with jewels and innumerable lamps of crystals, the coral studded threshold, pillars of gold inlaid with emeralds, gave out stunning appearance as if the creator Bhrama put all the marvelous things together in his creation, the beautiful courtyards decorated with gems and crystals, the huge palace gates embellished with gold and diamonds. All the houses have beautiful halls decorated with murals and paintings of Rama, and the legend of Rama imprinted on the wall of the houses that would steal the heart of dispassionate, the Rishis and Sages visited the majestic Kingdom of Ayodhya looked at the beauty of the city cravingly. Every house has a beautiful well-maintained garden with great care, loaded with creepers, flowering plants of rich fragrances, crammed with flowers in all seasons, and it has become the favorite spot of birds of all seasons and the humming bees, the cool rich fragrant breeze, the children sang melodiously while having pleasurable times in the garden, peacock, swans, cranes, and pigeons are regular visitors in these gardens added loveliness to the atmosphere, they beautifully danced watching their mirror images on the crystal flooring, the children surrounded by the Myna, Parrot, and Cuckoo, were taught the verses “Rama Raghupathi Janapalaka”. The stunning palace of Ayodhya, the huge palace walls, gateways, pathways, roads, market places…etc. were beyond description.
