Sri Ramacharitha Manas – Sri Tulsidas Maharaj – Ayodhya Kanda – The attachment to worldly matters cause due to ignorance – The ignorance causes grief – Lakshman imparts the highest of knowledge to Guha

Chapter – 93– Sri Ramacharitha Manas – Ayodhya Kanda– The attachment to worldly matters causes due to ignorance – The ignorance causes grief – Lakshman imparts the highest of knowledge to Guha

Lakshman spoke wisely “Oh! Guha, in the dream a King becomes pauper, and a penniless becomes powerful as Indhra, as soon as they wake up from the dream, everything disappears. Likewise, the material matters, richness, wealth, money, possession, wife, family, children, relatives, companions, etc. and the Shabdha/sound, Sparsha/touch, Rasa/taste, Roopa/appearance and Gandha/smell are mere illusions.  Therefore, whatever is seen, heard, and experienced is a mere illusion, like a dream. Oh! Brother, you have to learn to put that knowledge into practice to get rid of grief, hence blaming or getting frustrated or angry is worthless. Oh! Guha, ignorance causes attachment to whatever is seen, heard, and experienced, and it causes grief in its absence, same as in the dream. It is the Yogi who is renounced soul, abandon the interest in material matters and bondage keeps awake, they are the achiever of knowledge of supreme Bhramam reside as a soul in the Jeeva, and they remain aloof from the worldly matters. The Bhramajjani/Athmajjani, who is the knower of all-pervasive supreme Bhramam resides as a soul that is pure, unblemished, free from afflictions, neither birth nor death is eternal bliss, develops the Bhakti/pure love and devotion at the lotus feet of Rama. Oh! Friend, the highest of the meritorious reward is pure devotion at the lotus feet of Lord Sri Ramachandra by word, mind, and deed. Oh! Guha, the scriptures, and Veda eulogizes Rama as ‘Na: Ithi, Na: Ithi’, he is incomparable, beyond description, free from affliction and changes, pure, unblemished, neither birth nor death, and he is supreme bliss.”

Sri Ramacharitha Manas – Sri Tulsidas Maharaj – Ayodhya Kanda – Lakshmana’s nectar-like advice to Guha – No one is responsible for the grief of others, everyone has to reap the fruit of their own Karma

Chapter – 92– Sri Ramacharitha Manas – Ayodhya Kanda– Lakshmana’s nectar-like advice to Guha – No one is responsible for the grief of others, everyone has to reap the fruit of their own Karma

Guha spoke in distress “It was the daughter of Kaikeya who is dull-minded brought the ill-fate to Lord Rama, the delight of Raghu clan and Devi Sita, at an auspicious hour. The wicked woman worked as an ax to the clan of Raghu's and shoved the whole Universe into distress.” Guha could not bear the grief of watching Devi Sita and Rama sleeping on the mattress of grass. At that moment, Lakshman spoke nectar-like wise words full of dispassion, and devotion “Oh! Guha, no one is responsible for the grief or happiness of others, Oh! Brother, everyone has to reap the fruit of their own Karma. Oh! Guha, friends, and enemies, good and evil, happiness and sorrows, union and separation are illusions/Maya, all those experienced are Maya like the destiny and time, birth and death, prosperity and adversity, are natural phenomena. Oh! Brother, the material world of richness, fame, possession, wealth, relatives, family, children, wife, etc. all are destructible Prakrithi/Maya, all those Shabdha/sound, Sparsha/touch, Rasa/taste, Roopa /appearance, and Gandha/smell are an illusion, attachment to them due to the ignorance causes grief.”

Sri Ramacharitha Manas – Sri Tulsidas Maharaj – Ayodhya Kanda – Guha feels inconsolable remembering the ‘Destiny is unconquerable’

Chapter – 91– Sri Ramacharitha Manas – Ayodhya Kanda– Guha feels inconsolable remembering the ‘Destiny is unconquerable’

Nishadharaja Guha spoke in tears “The palace of the King must be luxurious and spotless, with an abundance of luxuries, fortresses of marvelous designs, crammed with rich fragrant flowers, the chambers, and cot must have been decorated with gems, fresh flowers of rich aroma, and it must have cozy spread and covers, quilts, pillows, cushions of milk-white etc. with various amenities which are beyond description and it must be the place where Rama along with Devi Sita must have spend their pleasurable nights like Devi Rathi and Lord Kamadeva. Oh! Dear friend, it is miserable to watch that Rama and Devi Sita sleeping on the rough Kusha grass and leaves, and they have fallen asleep due to exhaustion.  Lord Rama who is cherished by the King and Queen mothers, people of Ayodhya, good-natured companions, sincere servants and attendance is sleeping on the hard mattress made of grass, it is unbearable for me. Devi Sita is the daughter of illustrious King Janaka, whose father-in-law is well known King Dhasharatha, Lord of Raghu race, and a closest companion of Lord Indra, and whose consort is Lord Sri Ramachandhra, is sleeping on the floor shows that ill-fate does not spare a single individual. Do they deserve to be exiled to woods?” Guha release a sigh of distress and continued “It was rightly said that the destiny is unconquerable”.

Chapter – 90– Sri Ramacharitha Manas – Ayodhya Kanda– Guha feels miserable watching Lord Rama sleeping on the Kushagrass

Rama returned after the evening rites, delightfully consumed the fruits and water offered by Guha, he partook the meal with Sumanthra, Lakshman, and Devi Sita, shortly Rama laid on the Kusha bed, and Lakshman began to massage the feet of Lord. After a short while, Lakshman understood that Rama has fallen asleep, he rose from the seat and gestured Sumanthra to retire. Lakshman moved to a fair distance and kept an eye on the safety of the Rama, holding bow and arrow. Guha instructed his faithful servant to keep an eye on the safety of Rama sitting in a fair distance, and went closer to Lakshman and took a seat with him. Guha felt extremely sad watching the Lord sleeping on the rough Kusha grass, due to affection his eye overflown with tears, spoke sorrowfully “The palace of King Dhasharatha must be stunning, superior to the abode of Lord Indhra, it must have marvelous fortresses and chambers decorated with exquisite jewels and gems must give out the appearance of the God of love has constructed them all with his own hands.”

Chapter – 89– Sri Ramacharitha Manas – Ayodhya Kanda– Guha prepares Kushagrass bed for Lord Rama in the midst of a cluster of auspicious trees in the forest

Ram spoke in a soft tone “Oh! Guha, I have promised to follow the life of a hermit living in the woods for fourteen years to my father. Therefore, I should strictly follow the life of a hermit, wearing a saffron robe, living in the dense woods, and depending on the fruits and vegetables available in the forest. Therefore, living in a village will not be advisable for a hermit.” Guha was heartbroken, became anxious about the life of Rama in the dense woods. The people of the village assembled around Lord Rama, Lakshmana and Devi Sita; spoke in utter amazement “Oh! Dear, what kind of parents are they? How could they send their children to live in the forest?” others said “The Almighty Lord has heard our prayers and showered blessings on us. The King has done very well indeed.” The Nishadha Raja Guha remembered the beautiful and serene land in the wood for their stay, shortly he took Rama to the place where the cluster of Ashoka trees, Rama readily agreed to live in the serene land amidst the cluster of auspicious trees. The people of the village offered obeisance and returned to their homes, while the Lord of Raghu prepared to retire for sun worship at the hours of dusk. Guha prepared a beautiful mattress made out of Kushagrass and tender leaves for Rama and Devi Sita, he made cups out of leaves and filled it with fresh fruits and water.”

Chapter – 88– Sri Ramacharitha Manas – Ayodhya Kanda– Nishadharaja Guha visits Rama on the riverbank of Ganga

Sage Yajjavalkya speaks “Oh! Mune, the Sudhdha Sacchidhanandhaswaroopa Paramathma Parambhramam personified as the son of King Dhasharatha is pure, unblemished, supreme wisdom and bliss has performed all those deeds of a human on the Earth to impart the supreme knowledge of ‘self’/Athmavidhya, Bhramamjjanam and protect the soul from the repeated births. The Nishadharaja Guha got the news of arrival Rama in the Sringabheripura, soon, he called out for the people in his village, they have collected several wicker baskets full of fruits, vegetables, and fiber roots and rushed to meet the supreme Lord with a great joy. Guha prostrated at the lotus feet of Raghu, lined up the baskets full of fruits and vegetables, and kept himself away. The Lord of Raghu affectionately looked at Guha and asked him to take a seat closer to the Lord of mercy and enquired his welfare. Guha reverentially replied “Oh! Prabho, the sight of your lotus feet is enough to bring all the auspiciousness to Jeeva, it is the origin of welfare and auspiciousness, Oh! Prabho, I am fortunate, I have achieved the fruitfulness of my life, my village, people and the Earth has sanctified with the footprints of you. My family and my villagers are your humble servant, Oh! Prabho, kindly make a visit to our village, let everyone has the opportunity to achieve  bliss.” The supreme Lord Ramachandhra replied “Oh! Dear friend Guha, you are true and wise, my father has advised me to take shelter in the forest, hence I am not allowed to visit your village.”

Sri Ramacharitha Manas – Sri Tulsidas Maharaj – Ayodhya Kanda – Rama describes the legends of Devanadhi Ganga/celestial river to Sumanthra, Lakshman, and Devi Sita

Chapter – 87– Sri Ramacharitha Manas – Ayodhya Kanda– Rama describes the legends of Devanadhi Ganga/celestial river to Sumanthra, Lakshman and Devi Sita

Sage Yajjavalkya speaks “ Oh! Mune, the men and women of Ayodhya engaged in various austerities and observed celibacy for the safe return of Rama after fourteen years of life in the forest, they were miserable as the male and female Chakravaha, and the lotus flowers in the absence of sun. Sumanthra drove the chariot to the beautiful village of Shringaberipura, the two princes and Devi Sita got down from the chariot on the riverbank of Ganga. Rama rushed to the banks of the river and prostrated before river Ganga in extreme delight, soon Sumanthra, Lakshman, and Sita followed Rama and offered obeisance to the river of life Ganga, while watching the beautiful water currents of Ganga, Rama described the origin of Devanadhi Ganga on the Earth, which is capable to wash off all the sins of the soul with a single dip on its icy cold water. Rama continued to describe several legends on the sacred river Ganga to Sumanthra, Laksman and Devi Sita, they took a holy dip in the water and drank the nectar-like water at heart’s content, thus they got relieved from the exhaustion of a long journey. Will the supreme Bhramam personified as Rama feel thirsty? The mere remembrance of the name ‘Rama’ would take away the grief of Samsarachakra/repeated births, can’t feel the thirst, it was the wonderful message from Lord eulogizing the glories of Devanadhi Ganga and the importance of a holy dip in the river has been taught to the world.”
