Sri Ramacharitha Manas – Sri Tulsidas Maharaj – Bala Kanda – Saptharishis conversation with Bhavani

Chapter – 89– Sri Ramacharitha Manas – Bala Kanda – Saptharishis conversation with Bhavani

The Saptharishis spoke “Oh! Bhavani, we have already cautioned you about Maharishi Narada who wants to influence everyone to conduct Tapasya, not to believe his predictions. You did not like our advice, all your austerities and vows gone in the drain, Lord Mahesha burned the Kamadeva into ashes.” Devi Bhavani smiled and replied “Oh! Mahathma, you have well said, you have noticed Lord Shambhu burnt the God of Love recently, you did not notice the Vairagya/renunciation of that Lord, and in your opinion, Lord Shambhu was smitten with love all his life and lately crushed the pride of Kamadeva. Oh! Mahathma, in my knowledge the Lord of Lords Mahadeva is a supreme ascetic, absolute Bhramam, pure, unblemished, dispassionate, free from dualities, sufferings of worldly existence, and unconquerable, hence I have fallen in love with him by my word, mind, and deed. Oh! Mahathma, the supreme Lord Shambhu will fulfill my desires, and all my austerities and vows will be answered very soon. The inner meaning of the phrase Lord Hara burnt the Kamadeva has to be understood in an appropriate manner, I think the Lord Kamadeva has taken away that wisdom from you. Oh! Mahathma, the ice cannot withstand the fire, would melt away in seconds, in the same manner, Kamadeva is frost cannot come closer to that supreme Lord Mahadeva who resembles colossal fire, whatever get into contact with it would perish.”

Lord Bhrama spoke “Oh! Prabho, Oh! Shankara, all those deities would yearn to watch the enthusiastic appearance of you as a householder, unlike the supreme Yogi who is in trance for several thousands of years.  Oh! Madhana Madha Mochana, who crushed the pride of Lord Kamadeva, kindly drench our eyes with the joyful event of your celestial wedding with Devi Parvathi who is personified as Girirajakumari. Oh! Prabho, Oh! Kripasagara who is the ocean of mercy, though you have burnt the Kamadeva who spread unrest in the Universe, you have provided a unique boon to Devi Rathi and pacified her, you are a graceful Master who punishes the evil-doer and shower an abundance of compassion on them. Oh! Prabho, Devi Parvathi have performed severe austerities and penance for several thousands of years contemplating upon you, hence kindly accept her as your wedded wife and restore peace in the Universe. Lord Mahadeva got pleased with the appeal of Lord Bhrama and remembering the promise to Raghu responded in a soft tone “Yes I do”. Soon, there were the sounds of divine musical instruments reverberated, the deities showered flowers and cheered in extreme joy “Victory to Mighty Lord Mahadeva! Victory to Lord of Lords!” the Saptharishis arrived on this auspicious moment to conduct the further proceedings of the celestial wedding, Lord Bhrama instructed them to meet Himavan. The Saptharishis arrived in the abode of Himavan, and met Devi Parvathi Bhavani Jagadamba and spoke to her in a pleasing voice.

Sage Yajjavalkya speaks “Oh! Mune, Lord Shambhu crushed the pride of Kamadeva, after the grave incident the Yogis, Muniganas, Rishis got freed from the clutches of Kamadeva were extremely happy, and Devi Rati who has witnessed the miserable fate of Lord Kamadeva fallen unconscious. Devi Rati could not control her grief, became inconsolable wept bitterly, and approached Lord Shankara, she stood before the Lord with folded hands. Lord Shambhu who is the ocean of mercy, watching the dejected state of Devi Rathi pronounced in a soft voice “Oh! Devi, henceforth, your consort Lord Kamadeva would be remembered as Ananga/bodiless, he would be continued on the Earth without specific form and in due course of time, you will regain him as your consort. Oh! Devi, Lord Hari would incarnate as Lord Krishna in the Dwaparayuga to reinstate the righteousness and reduce the burden of the Earth. At that time, your husband Kamadeva would be born as the eldest son Pradhyumna of Lord Krishna and Devi Rukmini, and he will find a way to unite with you once again, remember my predictions won’t go untrue.” Thus, Devi Rati was pacified by Shankara and left the abode. Oh! Mune, I shall describe the latter part of the legend, listen to me carefully. All the deities along with Lord Virinchi approached Lord Vishnu in Vaikunda, further, they have taken a tour to Mount Kailash to meet the supreme Lord Shiva. All the deities assembled before Lord Shambhu who is adorned in the crescent moon on the reddish-brown matted hair locks and eulogized the might of Lord Shiva. The benevolent Lord Shambhu greeted them pleasantly and spoke “Oh! Deities, kindly reveal the purpose of your visit.” Lord Bhrama replied “Oh! Prabho, you are that all-pervasive supreme Bhramam, you are the knower of all, resides as a soul in the Jeeva, which is the source of the functioning of the mind, intellect, Prana, Karma and Gnanendhriyas, Ahamkara, Mamakara etc. although I would like to bring some matters before you that require your immediate attention.”
