Sri Ramacharitha Manas – Sri Tulsidas Maharaj – Bala Kanda – Lord Himavan pacifies Devi Mena

Chapter – 70– Sri Ramacharitha Manas – Bala Kanda – Lord Himavan pacifies Devi Mena

Maharishi Narada took a pause and contemplated upon Lord Sri Hari,  and blessed Girija who was standing before him with folded hands, “Oh! Daughter of Lord Mountain, Oh! Girirajakumari, leave all your anxiousness, everything will be auspicious from now onwards.” Thus, he left the abode of Himavan and returned to Sathyaloka to meet Lord Bhrama. Devi Mena was looking for an opportunity to meet her husband in solitude, and spoke “Oh! Prabho, I can’t take the words of Maharishi Narada, I can’t approve of the groom who does not have a decent home, or clan, or guardians and does not carry equal status to us, I won’t agree for the marriage, then it is better to keep my daughter unmarried all her life. Oh! Prabho, my daughter Uma is dear as my life if you have failed to find an appropriate match for our lovely and young daughter, the whole world will blame us and do not respect you as the King of Mountain, they would question your wiseness, hence always keep in mind not to commit a mistake that would leave a permanent scar in our life.” Devi Mena prostrated before her husband and prepared to leave. Himavan spoke “Oh! Devi, whatever destined to happen will occur for sure, Maharishi Narada is Sarbagya, could foresee whatever going to happen in the future and his words never go untrue, even the moon famous for its cool rays may emit fire, so have patience and wait for the turn of events.”

Sri Ramacharitha Manas – Sri Tulsidas Maharaj – Bala Kanda – The significance of the practice of pure love and devotion at the lotus feet of Lord Shambhu

Chapter – 69– Sri Ramacharitha Manas – Bala Kanda – The significance of the practice of pure love and devotion at the lotus feet of Lord Shambhu

Maharishi Narada continues “ Oh! Himavan, the ignorant and arrogant Jeeva who finds fault in the essential elements and deities would reap the fruit of their sins in the entire Kalpa or continues to suffer till the end of the Universe. They cannot achieve the nobleness of Esha, like the waters of Ganga stored in the glass used to drink wine that holds the smell of it, the noble souls won’t consume the water stored in the glass of wine, even if it is waters of Ganga, but the same glass of water poured into the river Ganga becomes purified. The supreme Lord Shambhu is all-pervasive Bhramam, pure, changeless, unblemished, free from afflictions, neither birth nor death, symbolizes supreme wisdom, and auspiciousness, hence any impurities adorned gets cleansed immediately with the magnificence of that Lord. Therefore, the marriage of your daughter with Lord Shankara will bring auspiciousness to all, but it is difficult to propitiate that Lord Shambhu who is Ashuthoshi gets highly pleased with sincere devotion, austerities, and Tapasya. If Devi Uma undertake severe penance contemplating upon that Tripurari who is the slayer of the demon Tripura, she can please the Lord with her austerities. You may find several grooms suitable for your daughter Girirajakumar, but none cannot bring auspiciousness and welfare like Lord Shambhu who is the destroyer of sorrows and grief, and bestower of boons, compassionate and kind to Jeeva who have taken shelter in him, he is most promising and protector of Jeeva. Oh! Himavan, none of the Tapasya or knowledge in Shastras, Purana, Veda, Vedanga, practice of Yoga, the utterance of Manthra won't yield results in millions of Yuga without the pure love and devotion at the lotus feet of Lord Shambhu.”

Sri Ramacharitha Manas – Sri Tulsidas Maharaj – Bala Kanda – Maharishi Narada describes the auspiciousness of Lord of Lords Mahadeva who is adorned in inauspicious ornaments

Chapter – 68– Sri Ramacharitha Manas – Bala Kanda – Maharishi Narada describes the auspiciousness of Lord of Lords Mahadeva who is adorned in inauspicious ornaments

Maharishi Narada spoke “Oh! Himavan, no one can rewrite the destiny, not even the deities, Kinnara, Dhanuja, Nara, Naga, Muni etc. hence listen to me carefully, if you follow my advice, you could find peace within you. Devi Uma would achieve a wonderful Lord as wedded husband as I have described earlier, he is the mighty Lord of Lords who is the essence of auspiciousness, wisdom, peace, welfare, and bliss. The pair would make incomparable, and inseparable, bring fame to the Universe. Whatever I have described the inauspicious marks on that mighty Lord are the source of auspiciousness to the world, 1) the sacred ashes smeared on the body to remind the Jeeva about the impermanent life on Earth, 2) the serpents adorned as ornaments taught us the technique to turn out the toxic poison like the grief of worldly existence into the nectar of immortality with the power of devotion, 3) the garland of skulls reveal the compassion of the Lord, 4) the baby deer on his hand resemble mind that has flickering nature, taught us the importance of austerities for self-control 5) the matted hair locks that are the dwelling place of sacred river Ganga and the crescent moon, 6)  the skin of animals as attire to reveals his compassion to all Jeeva.  Oh! Himavan, there is no difference between Hari and Hara, even Hari reclines on the Adishesha that does not bring inauspiciousness to him, and the wise do not blame them. Likewise, Lord Surya is capable to dry moistures and evaporates water causes rainfall, the streams and rivers confluence with the sacred Ganga do not make her impure, fire burn down everything gets into contact with it, and the wise do not blame their nature, hence they remain pure as ever.”

Chapter – 67– Sri Ramacharitha Manas – Bala Kanda – The predictions of Maharishi Narada about the future consort of Devi Girija brought panic in the family

Maharishi Narada continues “Oh! Himavan, I could read the lines on the palm of Girija very clearly, it says that there is a Jogi/supreme ascetic, dispassionate, free from impurities of Kama, Krodha, Lobha, Moha, Madha, Mathshcharya, Ahamkara, and Mamakara, no interest in worldly matters or possession, attired in the skin of animals, matted hair locks, smeared in ashes, adorned in inauspicious ornaments, would be her wedded husband.” Himavan and Devi Mena dumbfounded at the predictions, heartbroken listening to Maharishi Narada, sunk in deep sorrow, while Devi Uma rejoiced in her heart that was not known even to Sarbagya/omnipresent Maharishi Narada. The entire family of Mount Himavan, childhood companions of Devi Uma, Devi Mena welled up in tears, could not believe the words uttered by Maharishi Narada, wept bitterly thinking about the fate of Devi Uma. They were certain that the words of Maharishi cannot be untrue and it mounted their grief, except Devi Uma who immensely pleased at heart. The love for the supreme Lord Shiva which was inborn in Devi Uma sprang beyond limits, on the other hand, the thought about the difficulties involved to achieve that supreme Lord Mahadeva as wedded husband pushed her to utter gloominess. She sat in a composed stature on the lap of one of her childhood friends, the predictions of an illustrious Rishi cannot be untrue, hence all those family members assembled were deeply worried. Mount Himavan regained courage and spoke “Oh! Mune, kindly advise me what shall I do for my daughter?”

Himavan kept the little Girija at the lotus feet of Maharishi Narada and spoke “Oh! Mune, you are the knower of past, present, future, you keep traveling to three worlds without any obstacles. Oh! Mune, you are the knower all, kindly advise me what is good and bad for my daughter, and kindly predict her future too.” Maharishi Narada smiled pleasantly at Himavan and began to speak “ Oh! Himavan, your daughter is the storehouse of virtues, intelligence, wisdom, and beauty. She will be praised by the whole world in different names such as Uma, Ambika, Bhavani, Bhagavathi, Jagathjanani, Paramba, etc. she would entice the world with her charm and fame, and she will definitely win over the heart of her consort with her unfailing promises and virtues. Girija would be the inseparable companion of her consort and multiplies the glories of her parents, she will achieve undiminishing glory and she will have mendicant, a supreme ascetic as her consort. The mere remembrance of her name would provide honor, chastity to women, and they would remain courageous as powerful swords. Oh! Sri Ramacharitha Manas – Sri Tulsidas Maharaj – Bala Kanda – The mayhem caused by the Ganas of Lord Shiva in the Yagashala– The birth of Devi Sati as Parvathi, daughter of Mount Himavan

Chapter – 64– Sri Ramacharitha Manas – Bala Kanda – The mayhem caused by the Ganas of Lord Shiva in the Yagashala – The birth of Devi Sati as Parvathi, daughter of Mount Himavan

The Ganas of Lord Shambhu rushed to the site of Yaga, gathered in the assembly, and found Devi Dhakshayani’s lifeless body, they could not control the rage, began to destroy the entire Yaga. They have thrashed and shoved away the ingredients assembled for Yaga, put off the sacrificial fire, physically tortured the people assembled, causes them to flee in different directions. The Ganas of Lord Shambhu created huge turmoil none could withstand the powers them. Maharishi Narada informed Lord Mahadeva who was in deep meditation, could not bear the death of Dhakshayani, in an extreme fury, he invoked the fierce Veerabadhra from the single strand of matted hair locks. Veerabadhra proceeded to the palace of Dhaksha, and crushed the Yagashala under his feet, instilled extreme fear among the people assembled, some of them have lost their limbs and body parts in the turn of events, and Dhaksha has reaped the fruit of his arrogance, met the same fate of others. The legend of Daksha Yaga is popularly known to the world, hence I have described them briefly. Dhakshayani while leaving the mortal coil, appealed to Lord Sri Ramachandra, to achieve Ananyabhakthi at the lotus feet of Lord of Lords Mahadeva. Thus, Devi Sati took birth as Goddess Parvathi to the most fortunate couple Mount Himavan and Devi Mena. The birth of Jagathjanani Paramba Bhagavathi as the daughter of Mount Himavan brought an abundance of auspiciousness and welfare to the world, the Earth flourished with rich natural and mineral wealth, brought immense prosperity to Mount Himavan. The abode of Mount Himavan became the famous place for the Sages and Rishis who lived in beautiful hermitage and engaged in extreme Tapasya and austerities.”
