Chapter -76 – Dhoha -75

The description of the beauty of Lord Rama

Lord Mahadeva speaks “ Oh! Devi, Rama has an attractive appearance, has the luster of blue lotus flower and dark clouds excel the beauty of crores of Manmatha, his red lotus-like feet and the toenails were sparkling like the pearls attached on the lotus flower, his marvelous feet has the divine symbols, the jingling noises from the anklets on his feet enthused the hearts of saints and ascetics, his waist was adorned in marvelous waist ornament, he has three lines on the stomach, the depth of his navel known to whoever witnessed, his long hands were adorned in armlets, bangles, finger rings, etc. his chest was adorned in various ornaments, pearls, and gem decorated ornaments, his chest has the mark of feet of Sage Bhrigu,  the beautiful neck has the appearance of the conch, his jaw-line was attractive, his charm excels the beauty of crores of Manmatha. His beautiful red lips covered the little teeth, he has attractive nose, ears, cheeks, and forehead decorated in vermilion and sandalwood paste. His unclear childish talks were pleasing to ears, his long curly hair locks were decorated with various ornaments and pearls, tied up on the head by his mother. He was attired in magnificent yellow silk garment; I took great pleasure in watching him beautifully crawling all over the place. His beauty and attractive physical features are difficult to describe for Anantha or Veda that can be described only for the people who dreamed of it. The Supreme Lord Rama who is bliss, beyond Maya and description, took great pleasure in the love and affection of those royal couple and immersed in various childhood pastimes.”

Lord Mahadeva speaks “Oh! Bhavani, in this way, the supreme Lord Hari who is the father and mother of The universe and its living beings, provided happiness to the people of Ayodhya. Oh! Devi, this is how the Supreme Lord Ramachandra showers his bountiful mercy upon the people who have intense love and devotion at his lotus feet. People who keep themselves away from the lotus feet of Raghupathi would never get freed from the ocean of worldly existence. The powerful Maya of Lord Hari who persuades all the living and non-living things obediently stands before him in extreme terror. The supreme Lord controls his Maya with the movements of his eyes brows, therefore whom should we depend and contemplate? Whoever sincerely worships Lord Rama with words, mind, and deeds,   leaving all the deceitfulness, would achieve the perpetual grace of him. In this way, Lord Rama enhanced the happiness of the people of Ayodhya with his various childhood pastimes. Devi Kausalya was completely devoted to taking care of her little child; sometimes keep him on her lap or leaving him in the cradle, and keeps singing the various pastimes of her little child, in this way several days and night have passed.”

Whoever has the grace of Lord Rama upon them would understand that glorious and auspicious myth. King Dhasharatha fulfilled all the desires of his subjects on this occasion; he offered elephants, chariots, horses, gold, cows, diamonds, and garments, etc. as a charity. The people were extremely satisfied, and all those people blessed “The Prabhu of Tulasidas and children of Dhasharatha Long live!”

Thus several days have passed; King Dhasharatha invited Maharishi Vashishta to name the children. The Maharishi Vashishta who was reverentially greeted by the King and his wives took a seat and immersed in meditation for a while and replied “Oh! Rajan, your children have endless names, and great splendor, I shall pronounce the names according to my thoughts. Oh! Rajan, Your elder son who symbolizes the ocean of bliss, happiness, and prosperity, would be known as ‘Rama’ who is the abode of supreme bliss and provider of happiness to the three worlds. I shall name your second son as ‘Bharatha’ who will be the ruler of the Universe and develop the life on the Earth. I shall name your another son as ‘Shathrughna’ who is eulogized in Veda, mere utterance of  his  name would remove the enemies,  and I shall name the marvelous child who is favorite of ‘Rama’ and the source of the existence of the Universe and its living beings as   ‘Lakshman’.” Maharishi Vashishta engaged in contemplation and continued “Oh! Rajan, your four children are the highest philosophies in the Veda. Rama is the life of Lord Shiva, he is the wealth of saintly men and ascetics, he is everything to his devotes, is taking great pleasure in the various childhood pastimes.”  Lakshmana grew too attached to elder brother Rama and devoted his time to his lotus feet, he was too promising to his elder brother and considered him as Lord. Bharatha and Shathrughna shared the love of Lord and servant of Lord. The pair of Rama and Lakshmana was extremely eye-catching, one has the complexion of dark clouds and another one has a fair complexion, their mothers would remove the grass and shred it into pieces to remove evil eyes on their children. These four children were the abode of beauty, virtues, and humility, and Rama was the ocean of bliss. His marvelous smile resembles the luster of the moon, he took a seat on his mother’s lap sometimes on the cradle, in this way Devi Kausalya showered boundless love and devotion to her child, took great pleasure on that little child.  The supreme Lord Hari who is free from Maya, unblemished, beyond the Trigunas, omnipresent and absolute Bramam took shelter on the lap of Devi Kausalya due to her intense devotion.

Sages and Rishis, Siddhas, Indra and deities do not get anxious. I will assume the form of a human for the welfare of all, I will take birth in the illustrious clan of Surya, I will be born as the son of Kashyapa and Devi Adithi who underwent extreme penance and attained boon from me. They have incarnated as King Dhasharatha and Devi Kausalya in the city of Ayodhya, I will be born as Raghukulathilaka, one of the four children in his palace. I will be born with the Paramashakthi/Devi Sita, and make the words of Maharishi Narada true, in the way I will reduce the burden of Earth. Oh! Deities, do not get worried.” The deities assembled were satisfied listening to the divine voice and returned to their respective abodes.  Lord Bhrama pacified Mother Earth, thus she got relieved from fear and grief.

Chapter -70 – Dhoha -69

Ravana's atrocities on the Earth

Ravana called for his elder son Meghanatha and advised him to use his prowess against the enemies, he asked him to use all his powers against the deities who are skilled in war techniques and imprison them. Meghanatha sincerely followed the command of his father, in this way the mighty Ravana holding his mace ordered his people, while he was walking the Earth trembled, while he produces boisterous voices the wives of the deities lost their fetus. Ravana’s arrival to the abode of deities forced them to hide in the caves of Mount Sumeru. Dhashanan went to attack the marvelous abode of Dikpalakas found it uninhabited. He produced roar like a lion and invited the deities to fight against him, showered abuses upon them. He constantly went in search for the opponent to fight against him, he found no one in the world. He intentionally harassed Indra, Surya, Chandra, Varuna, Vayu, Agni, Kubera, Yama, Kala, deities, Kinnaras, Siddhas, Humans, Naga etc.. All the creations of Bhrama, those male and female were under the influence of Dhashanan, all were extremely frightful of Ravana and followed his order sincerely, and prostrates before him. He conquered the whole world with his power, he did not let anyone free, ruled the world as the King of the Kings according to his own will. He married to the daughters of  Deva, Yaksha, Gandharva, Manushya, Kinnara, and Naga, and all those beautiful young women in the three worlds.

Indhrajith performed all that tasks desired by his father; he had the foresightedness of his father. The dreadful demons are sinners, had massive bodily appearances, and harassed the deities.  They wander during the darkest hours of the nights, assume various forms with their illusionary powers, and engage in various atrocities, they have performed all those tasks to oppose the deities. They took great effort to uproot the righteousness, the villages of twice-born, and the places of cowsheds were burnt into ashes. There were no auspicious rites in the world, they do not respect deities, twice-born and preceptors, there was no place for devotion to Lord Hari, Yaga, Tapas, or lectures or lessons of Veda and scriptures, people were forbidden to listen to Veda and scriptures. The atrocities of these wicked demons were indescribable; they took great pleasure in violence and endless sinful deeds.

Lord Mahadeva speaks “ Oh! Devi, the city of Lanka became a storehouse of all the wicked and immoral deeds, it has become the dwelling place of gamblers, thieves, deceitful who took custody of other’s wealth and wives. People do not respect parents or preceptor or worship deities or respect the saintly men and ascetics. They forced the saintly men to work hard and employed them in odd jobs. Oh! Bhavani, people who are performing all these atrocities are addressed as demons. The mother Earth was extremely terrified and grieved over the destruction of righteousness on the Earth, she spoke to herself “ Oh! The weight of the ocean, mountains, rivers, and hills does not cause heaviness to me, I cannot hold on the weight of the demons on the Earth.” She was scared of Ravana, could not speak out of those immoralities. She assumed the form of a cow and went to the caves of Sumeru where deities and sages were taking shelter, she shed tears of intense grief and described her sufferings, unfortunately, these deities and Sages were not in a position to relieve mother Earth from her sufferings.
