Chapter – 42– Sri Ramacharitha Manas – Sundara
Kanda– Ravana orders to throw out Vibheeshana and the elderly minister Malyavan
from the assembly
Vibheeshana spoke fervently “Oh! Ravana, I
shall repeatedly prostrate before you, kindly leave your arrogance and pride,
and worship Lord of Kosala. Our grandfather Sage Pulasthya has sent this
message to you through one of his disciples. Oh! Dear brother, make use of this
auspicious opportunity.” Ravana had a wise and elderly minister named Malyavan
who was immensely delighted to hear the pious words of Vibheeshana. Malyavan
spoke “Oh! Prabho, your elder brother is an ornament of wisdom, kindly follow
the words of Vibheeshana that would bring all the auspiciousness to you.”
Ravana shrieked in rage “These two fools are praising my enemy in my own
assembly, is there anyone to throw them out of my sight?” The elderly minister Malyavan
felt humiliated, immediately went out of the assembly. Vibheeshana continued to
pray before Ravana with folded hands “Oh! Dear brother, the Puranas and Veda
highly emphasize that goodness and evilness exist in all the Jeeva, wisdom brings prosperity and welfare, and immoral deeds bring constant
suffering and grief. Oh! Brother, at this moment, you are dominated by evilness, hence you consider enemies as friends, and vice versa. I shall tell
you the truth, Devi Sita represents Kalarathri/darkest hours of the night, your
fondness for Devi Sita would bring the destruction of an entire demon clan.”
