Chapter – 55 – Dhoha – 54
The Lord Kamadeva with the
flag of fish accompanied by his emissaries arrived in Mount Himalaya. As usual Lord Indra was alarmed felt danger to his throne, the people who are swollen with pride, lust, money, and desires
always have the fear of losing them like a greedy crow. The shameless Lord
Indra got scared of the penance of Maharishi Narada like the jackal holding a
bone on its mouth gets scared at the sight of the lion and dash off from the
fear of losing it. Manmatha arrived near the hermitage of Maharishi Narada and
created Vasantha Rithu with his magical powers, as a result, the entire forest
and its trees filled with flowers of rich alluring fragrances, Cuckoos sang
beautifully, honey bees started buzzing all around, cool rays of wind carried
that rich fragrance of the flowers all over the Himalaya, it created the
feeling of lust and desires in all the creatures. The young and beautiful
women, celestial Apsaras were besieged with lust, engaged in playing flower
balls, and sang beautifully, Kamadeva used various tricks with the help of his
emissaries to put a halt to the penance of Maharishi Narada. Alas! None of these lustful activities were
disturbed the penance of Maharishi Narada. Kamadeva felt disappointed and got
scared of his life. He understood that the individual who is under the
protection of Ramapathi would never get harmed by his tricks. Kamadeva
regretted his act, with extreme fear, approached Maharishi Narada, and took
shelter at his feet and begged for forgiveness. Maharishi Narada was not angry
at all, he pacified Kamadeva and sends him back. Kamadeva once again prostrated
before Maharishi Narada and returned to Indra. He arrived in Indraloka and
described all that happened and the graciousness of Maharishi Narada. All the
deities were pleased with Maharishi Narada and highly appreciated him and
prostrated before Lord Hari. Maharishi Narada had great pride in his victory
over the Kamadeva went to meet Lord Shiva; and he explained all those incidents to Lord
Shankara. Lord Mahesha advised Maharishi Narada “Oh! Maharishi, I request you
not to describe the entire incident to Lord Hari, make sure it remains secret
within you.” Even though Shambhu advised Devarishi for his goodness, but he did
not take them in the right spirit.
