Sri Ramacharitha Manas – Sri Tulsidas Maharaj – Uththara Kanda – The splendor of Devi Sita

Chapter - 24– Sri Ramacharitha Manas – Uththara Kanda – The splendor of Devi Sita

In the Ramarajya, the cool rays of full moon flooded during the night, and the Sun shed light and heat as it was required for the day, similarly, the downpour and clouds were adequate to flourish the land, there was no Athivrishti/heavy downpour or Anavrishti/lack of rains. Bhagavan Sri Ramachandra performed several fire sacrifices such as Ashwamedha Yaga and provided an abundance of charities to Bhramins, the supreme Lord Sri Ramachandra resembled Lord Indra on the Earth, has represented Sathvik, Rajasik, and Thamasik qualities, he was the protector of Veda and Vedic rites, and the champion of righteousness. He is the storehouse of beauty, amiability, and virtues, and Devi Sita was a virtuous and devoted wife to Lord Rama, she knows the greatness of the lotus feet of Lord Rama, and she fervently adored him. Although the palace of Ayodhya was full of servants to attend to the needs, Devi Sita performed all the household duties, served the family, and found time to be close to her consort. Devi Sita performed all those household tasks without any pride which was dear and delightful to Lord, without even asking for it, she served her mothers in law, and all her relatives selflessly. Lord Mahadeva speaks “Oh! Devi Uma, Devi Sita is Jagathjanani, Paramba Bhagavathi, she is flawless, she is the mother of the Universe, who is worshiped by Lord Bhrama, deities, Rishis and Sages.”

Chapter - 23– Sri Ramacharitha Manas – Uththara Kanda – The glory of Ramarajya

In the Ramarajya there were no punishments/Danda, or Bhedha/separation, the people were so truthful, righteous, and sincerely followed the Varnna and Ashrama Dharma, hence there were no sins or punishments, all that was heard in the Ramarajya was ‘Victory’! The trees, creepers, and plants bore flowers and fruits throughout the year, the elephants and lions lived in complete harmony, the birds and reptiles forgot their natural animosity and lived friendly, birds joyfully cooed, and the animals fearlessly wandered all over the forest with their herds, and the life was blissful even the midst of the birds and animals. The air was rich, cool, and fragrant, and the buzzing of honey bees in search for flowers in abundance, creepers, and trees dropped honey at the request of the people, cows yielded milk at the heart’s content of cowherds, the Earth was flourished with an abundance of rich natural and mineral resources, although it was Thretha Yuga, it has seemed as Sathya Yuga. The ruler of the Earth Lord Sri Ramachandra, the absolute Sacchidhanandha Swaroopa Paramathma Parambhramam brought immense happiness and welfare on the Earth, the mountains were the storehouse of mines and precious gems, rivers carried sweet and nectar-like water, oceans never crossed their boundaries, and generously deposited the precious stones and gems on the shores from time to time, ponds were crammed with various water lilies on the crystal-clear water.

Chapter - 22– Sri Ramacharitha Manas – Uththara Kanda – Sage Kakabhusundi describes the splendor of Ramarajya to Garuda

Sage Kakabhusundi speaks “Oh! King of birds, Oh! Garuda, during the regime of Lord Rama, there was no animate or inanimate things suffered from time, planets, or conduct. Ramarajya under the regime of Lord Sri Ramachandra was one of the undisputed kingdoms in the entire sphere, surrounded by seven oceans. The protector of the Universe, the Lord of Universe whose every bodily hair represents each Universe, is beyond perception and description, hence describing the marvelousness of Ramarajya is a futile effort. Whoever perceived the supreme Bhramam personified as the son of King of Kosala, Lord Rama, will have the fondness in his glorious legends. The Mahatmas, Santh, and noble souls who have practiced extreme austerities and penances abandoned the interest in material things and worldly which has impermanent nature, and contemplates and meditate upon the supreme Bhramam, and perceived the greatness of the Lord Sri Ramachandra. The welfare and happiness of the people of Ayodhya, and the splendor of Ramarajya were difficult to describe even for the thousand tongued Adhishesha and Devi Sharada. The men and women were highly devoted to the twice-born/Bhramins, all were generous and benevolent. All men strictly adhered to the law of one wife, and the women have strictly followed chastity, and devoted to their husband by word, mind, and deed.”

Lord Rama invited the Nishadharaja Guha, and offered him an abundance of jewels, and garments of his choice, and spoke “Oh! Guha, you may return home, and continue to share the knowledge of righteousness by word, mind, and deed. Oh! Chapter - 19– Sri Ramacharitha Manas – Uththara Kanda – Angadha leaving Lord Rama heavy heartedly – Hanuman returns to serve the Lord after obtaining permission from Sugrivah

Lord Sri Ramachandra rushed to Angadha, after watching the humbleness and devotion of the son of Vali and took him from the ground and embraced him, both of them shed tears of joy. Thus, Angadha remained in the embrace of Rama for a while, clinging on his ornaments and attire, finally, the compassionate Lord pacified him in many ways and send him back to Kishkindha. Soon, Bharatha, Lakshma, and Shathrughna joined with Rama to send off Angadha, who reluctantly moved out of the sight of the Lord, all his way he turned back several times and looked at the merciful Lord, he repeatedly prostrated before him, with the expectation that the compassionate Lord may ask him to stay with him. Angadha was recalled the moments when the Lord greeted all the Vanaras, conversed with them, and walked away from them with a beautiful smile, it saddened him. He repeatedly contemplated upon the Lord, with humble prayers, and fixed the lotus feet of the Lord at his heart, and walked away with a heavy heart. Bharatha, Lakshman, and Shathrughna noticed that all the Vanaras were left the palace, so they returned to their respective fortresses. Hanuman who was accompanying Sugrivah/Kapeesa, for a while, suddenly clasped the feet of his Master and spoke “Oh! Prabho, Oh! Master, Son of Lord Surya kindly permit to serve Lord Sri Ramachandra for few more days, after that, I can join with you.” Sugrivah replied with great admiration “Oh! Vayuputhra, you are a storehouse of virtues and fortune, you may go and serve at the lotus feet of Lord Sri Ramachandra as you wish.” Thus, all the Vanaras proceeded their journey to their homes, at that moment Angadha hurried to speak to Hanuman.

Lord of Raghu invited the elderly Jambhavantha and offered an abundance of gifts to him, then came Nala and Neel, thus each and everyone was ready to leave, contemplating upon the magnificent form of Lord, they prostrated before the Lord and bade farewell with teary eyes. Finally, Angadha rose from his seat, his eyes were overflown with tears, with folded hands, he spoke nectar-like words – “Oh! Sarbagya,/omnipresent Lord, Oh! Dheenadhayakara, Oh! Arththabandho, Oh! Kripasindho, Oh! Prabho, I have been under your protection immediately after Vali, my dearest father who left this world. Oh! Prabho, you are the protector of desolate, you have promised that to my father, kindly do not abandon me. Oh! Prabho, you are my Mother, Father, Preceptor, Relative, and companion, where shall I go leaving your lotus feet? Oh! Prabho, I have nothing to do in my home, other than serving your lotus feet, you are most promising to your devotees. Oh! Prabho, I am merely a child who has no knowledge, courage, or strength, I shall do all those menial work at your palace, and cross the mundane existence by mere witnessing your lotus feet.” Saying so, Angadha fell at the lotus feet of Lord Rama, with tears overflowing down the cheeks, and prayed “Oh! Prabho, kindly do not abandon me, protect me, and do not advise me to return to home.”
