The Nishadharaja Guha got the news of arrival Rama in the Sringabheripura, soon, he called out for the people in his village, they have collected several wicker baskets full of fruits, vegetables, and fiber roots and rushed to meet the supreme Lord with a great joy. Guha prostrated at the lotus feet of Raghu, lined up the baskets full of fruits and vegetables, and kept himself away. The Lord of Raghu affectionately looked at Guha and asked him to take a seat closer to the Lord of mercy and enquired his welfare. Guha reverentially replied “Oh! Prabho, the sight of your lotus feet is enough to bring all the auspiciousness to Jeeva, it is the origin of welfare and auspiciousness, Oh! Prabho, I am fortunate, I have achieved the fruitfulness of my life, my village, people and the Earth has sanctified with the footprints of you. My family and my villagers are your humble servant, Oh! Prabho, kindly make a visit to our village, let everyone has the opportunity to achieve  bliss.” The supreme Lord Ramachandhra replied “Oh! Sri Ramacharitha Manas – Sri Tulsidas Maharaj – Ayodhya Kanda – Rama describes the legends of Devanadhi Ganga/celestial river to Sumanthra, Lakshman, and Devi Sita

Chapter – 87– Sri Ramacharitha Manas – Ayodhya Kanda– Rama describes the legends of Devanadhi Ganga/celestial river to Sumanthra, Lakshman and Devi Sita

Sage Yajjavalkya speaks “ Oh! Mune, the men and women of Ayodhya engaged in various austerities and observed celibacy for the safe return of Rama after fourteen years of life in the forest, they were miserable as the male and female Chakravaha, and the lotus flowers in the absence of sun. Sumanthra drove the chariot to the beautiful village of Shringaberipura, the two princes and Devi Sita got down from the chariot on the riverbank of Ganga. Rama rushed to the banks of the river and prostrated before river Ganga in extreme delight, soon Sumanthra, Lakshman, and Sita followed Rama and offered obeisance to the river of life Ganga, while watching the beautiful water currents of Ganga, Rama described the origin of Devanadhi Ganga on the Earth, which is capable to wash off all the sins of the soul with a single dip on its icy cold water. Rama continued to describe several legends on the sacred river Ganga to Sumanthra, Laksman and Devi Sita, they took a holy dip in the water and drank the nectar-like water at heart’s content, thus they got relieved from the exhaustion of a long journey. Will the supreme Bhramam personified as Rama feel thirsty? The mere remembrance of the name ‘Rama’ would take away the grief of Samsarachakra/repeated births, can’t feel the thirst, it was the wonderful message from Lord eulogizing the glories of Devanadhi Ganga and the importance of a holy dip in the river has been taught to the world.”

Chapter – 86– Sri Ramacharitha Manas – Ayodhya Kanda– The people of Ayodhya settled with an earnest desire to witness Rama’s return from the woods

Rama, Lakshman, and Sita took a seat on the chariot praying to Lord Shambhu, soon Sumanthra drove the Chariot silently from the crowd without leaving any trace, he had driven the chariot in such a way that there were the signs of chariot wheel appeared all over the ground without giving any clear-cut idea of the direction.  Finally, the daybreak has arrived, the people woke up from sound sleep and noticed ‘The Lord of Raghu has left us” shrieked out in utter grief. Soon they closely followed the confused track of chariot wheel, wept bitterly “Oh! Rama, Oh! Rama”, they cursed the fate that made Rama abandoned them during distress. They praised the fate of the fish that die out of the water, and spoke to each other “It is our ill fate, we have to live in the absence of Rama, anyway the Almighty Lord has separated us from our beloved Lord Rama, why can’t he bless us with a wish to die?” The crowd of people mourned for long hours and finally returned to their homes; their grief of separation was beyond description. Finally, the people of Ayodhya settled with a wish to see their Lord Rama back again after fourteen years of life in the woods.

Chapter – 85– Sri Ramacharitha Manas – Ayodhya Kanda– The people followed Rama to the woods fallen asleep on the riverbank of Thamasa

Sage Yajjavalkya speaks “Oh! Mune, some of the men and women discarded their family members, aged and children at home and left the city of Ayodhya. The first day of the journey of Lord of Raghu was halted on the riverbank of Thamasa. Soon the people throng from different directions at the lotus feet of Prabhu, the pure love and devotion of the people were heart-breaking to watch for the Lord of Raghu who is benevolent, kind, and compassionate, and the Lord who easily get moved at the distress of the Jeeva. He addressed the crowd in a compassionate and most agreeable tone, he comforted them all. The Lord of Raghu taught them the moral duties and responsibilities towards family, children, the elderly, and the Kingdom, although they were felt more than the right to follow the instructions of the Lord, they were overpowered by the devotion and affection to Rama, hence they stayed back with the Lord. The Lord of Raghu finds it difficult to leave them unnoticed who were already taken shelter in him, but not in a position to take them all to woods and make their lives uncomfortable, he experienced caught in the midst of duty and love. That night the people were overpowered by agony and pain fell asleep early, and the Lord of Raghu blessed them to get over their grief very soon, while watching them asleep the two Yamas of the night were passed quietly. Rama addressed Sumanthra in an affectionate tone “Oh! Father, kindly drive the chariot in a way without leaving any trace or get a clue of the direction, otherwise, it would be difficult to proceed further.”

Sri Ramacharitha Manas – Sri Tulsidas Maharaj – Ayodhya Kanda – The subjects of Ayodhya prepares to leave the Kingdom

Chapter – 84– Sri Ramacharitha Manas – Ayodhya Kanda– The subjects of Ayodhya prepares to leave the Kingdom

The huge number of horses, elephants, birds, cattle, Chathaka, Peacock, Cuckoo, parrots, Chakravaha, Mynas, cranes, swans, Chakora, etc. nurtured in the palace as well as in the city became restless, stood motionless in the grief of separation from Rama. The city of Ayodhya gave out a ghastly appearance, with several fortresses or rock, surrounded by thorny bushes, and the men and women gave out a miserable look. The Almighty Lord appointed Devi Kaikeyi to perform the hunter Bhila woman set fire in the forest. The people of Ayodhya could not bear the pain of separation from Rama, they gathered in a place and spoke “We can’t live without Rama, Lakshman and Devi Sita in the Ayodhya. Hence, we have to follow them to the woods and settle where Rama decides to take up his abode. We have no obligation to the city in the absence of three of them.” Soon all those people vacated their homes, proceeded to the woods with their belongings, and family members, thus the homes which were envied by the deities were abandoned at the pain of separation from Rama. Will it be possible for the interest in worldly matters, material possessions, fame, richness, money, wealth, to overpower the Jeeva whose heart is already surrendered at the lotus feet of Rama?

Chapter – 83– Sri Ramacharitha Manas – Ayodhya Kanda– The city of Ayodhya in the absence of Rama

Sage Yajjavalkya speaks “Oh! Mune, Sumanthra raced to his cart immediately after receiving the order from the King, finally moved to the outskirt of the city of Ayodhya where Rama, Sita and Lakshman was settled. Sumanthra reverentially conveyed the message of the King and requested them with the folded hands, to take a seat on the chariot. The two brothers and Devi Sita took a seat on the grand chariot and mentally offered prayers to the Kingdom of Ayodhya. The people of Ayodhya realized that the city is going to be masterless soon, hence the subjects followed the footsteps of Rama with anxiousness. The Supreme Lord Rama who is the ocean of mercy advised the people to return to their homes, some of them obediently followed the instruction of Rama, and others were unwilling out of pure love and affection for Rama, some of them made their minds and proceed to Ayodhya, but could not proceed to the city without Rama, hence they followed Rama to the woods. The city of Ayodhya gave out a gruesome appearance as if the deluge is going to devour the Universe. The men and women looked miserable, frightened of each other’s appearance, their houses resembled funeral grounds, and the relatives, children, elderly looked like ghosts and messengers of death. The trees and creepers, the pleasure gardens lost their charm, shrunken into the straw, the streams and ponds dried were given out a startling appearance.

Chapter – 82– Sri Ramacharitha Manas – Ayodhya Kanda– King Dhasharatha’s conversation with Sumanthra

King Dhasharatha spoke in a soft tone “Oh! Sumanthra, the two princes are too steadfast, and Devi Janaki is too young and delicate, hence take them in your chariot, show them the beautiful woods, and bring them back in three or four days. I am certain that the two princes are unwavering, firm-minded, true to their promises, they may refuse to return to Ayodhya, you have to approach them with wise words with folded hands and request them to allow Devi Sita to return to the palace. Oh! Sumanthra, whenever Devi Sita gets alarmed listening to the sounds of wild animals, or at the sight of dreadful creatures, takes the opportunity to advise her and repeat my words to her “Oh! Devi Sita, your parents have already sent messages to you, they have advised returning home, and choose to be either in the Kingdom of Ayodhya or the City of Mithila, as you please. The forest is not an appropriate place to live in, if you return to your husband’s palace it would be a great help for your elderly father and mothers-in-law. Otherwise, your father-in-law may meet terrible death at the pain of separation from all of you.” Immediately, the King lost his consciousness, wailing “Bring home Rama, Lakshman, and Devi Sita. I want to see them all.”
