Chapter – 51– Sri Ramacharitha Manas –
Ayodhya Kanda– The advice of the female members fallen into deaf ears of Devi
Kaikeyi
The twice-born, companions and the elder
family members spoke “Oh! Devi Kaikeyi, find out a way to remove the grief and
agony and protect your family from the destruction. Oh! Irascible lady, kindly
leave your anger, the city of Ayodhya can’t endure in the absence of Lord of
Tulsidas, Rama, it would be unimaginable like the Universe without sunlight or
moonlight, a body without vital air/Prana, and the Universe without day or night.”
All those advice given were fallen into deaf ears, although it was most
agreeable to the situation and to protect the family from the disaster, but
Devi Kaikeyi was already well tutored by the hunch-back Manthara, hence she
kept silent. She did not speak a word, instead gave out a morose look, she
stared at them like a hungry tigress on the herd of doves. They have understood
that Devi Kaikeyi has shut her ears forever, and her illness is incurable,
while leaving they spoke to each other “She’s a wretched fool, her mind has
turned against her fortune, she is digging her grave that no one would prefer to
do.” The people of Ayodhya lamented over the separation of Rama, they cursed
Devi Kaikeyi for her role to exile Rama from the Kingdom. They felt the world
has come to an end without Rama, they relieved a sigh of distress, the pain of
separation from Rama was beyond words and thoughts for them as the aquatic
creatures get parted from the water. Rama met Devi Kausalya with a pleasant
look, had fourfold joy in his heart, and hoped for King Dhasharatha should not hinder
his decision to pursue woods.
