My beloved mother Devi Kausalaya too has advised me what is appropriate for the situation, I certainly wish to carry out her affectionate orders with utmost reverence. It is advisable to sincerely follow the advice of preceptor, parents, master, and closest companion for welfare and happiness. Whoever fails to perform one’s own duties and responsibilities would incur a load of sins. All the advice I have received from my preceptor and Mother Kausalya will do good to me, even though my heart is not fully convinced. Hence, kindly listen to my requests and advise me. Kindly forgive me for my presumption and courage to speak before the elders, the wise and learned won’t consider it is an act of virtueless when the other person is in extreme distress.”

Chapter – 167 – Sri Ramacharitha Manas – Ayodhya Kanda– Sage Vashishta advises Bharatha to rule the Kingdom of Ayodhya so as to follow the command of his father

Sage Vashishta spoke “Oh! Thatha/dear son, tell me who is fortunate than the King Dhasharatha who has attained virtuous children like Rama, Bharatha, Lakshman, and Shathrughna? King Dhasharatha was fortunate in all manner; hence it is not required to mourn for him. Oh! Dear Son, do not grieve over the demise of the King, and sincerely follow the command of the King. The King has bestowed the kinship to you, hence adore the Kingdom which was offered to you by your father, he has forsaken Rama who is dear as his life in order to keep up his promise to Devi Kaikeyi, ultimately, he has left his mortal coil at the pain of separation from Rama. The King loved his promises more than his life, and he always kept his word intact. Oh! Dear son, therefore follow the command of your father, it would provide all the goodness to your life. Do you remember, Sage Parashurama who followed the command of his father and taken away the life of his mother Devi Renuka, the whole world stands witness to it.  Do you remember, the legend of Puru the son of Yayathi who exchanged his youthfulness to his father, therefore whoever sincerely followed the command of parents will not incur sin or grief in their lives.”
