Sage Kakabhusundi speaks “Oh! Bihagapathi/Garuda, I shall narrate about the very first birth of mine according to my intellect, that would definitely flourish the devotion of listeners at the lotus feet of Lord Sri Rama, it is the gateway to gets freed from the sufferings of worldly existence and repeated births. Oh! Garuda, it was Kaliyuga which symbolizes sins, the Jeevas was extremely manipulative, had no righteousness, truthfulness, and had no belief in Veda, scriptures, etc. I was born in the clan of Sudra/serving class, in the city of Ayodhya and I was a fervent devotee of Lord Shiva, by word, mind, and deed. I was so haughty and arrogant, swollen with pride, carried out the worship for a selfish motive, and kept hatred towards the worshipers of other deities and beliefs. Even after taking birth in the sacred land of Ayodhya, I have failed to understand the glories of the Kingdom of Ayodhya or Lord Rama. Oh! Garuda, fortunately with the grace of Lord Rama, I have saved myself from the ignorance and illusion, I have thoroughly understood the glories of Lord Rama, which was highly praised by Veda, Puranas, Tantras, and Manthras, etc. whoever takes birth on the scared land of Ayodhya would achieve piousness and devotion at the lotus feet of Lord Sri Ramachandra. Whoever envision the mighty Lord Sri Ramachandra wielded on bow and arrow, the compassionate Lord would reside in their hearts instantly. Oh! Uragari/enemy of serpents, the Kaliyuga is extremely horrible, difficult to explain, and it is the abode of all kinds of sins and atrocities, all the men and women would indulge in immoral deeds.”

Sri Ramacharitha Manas – Sri Tulsidas Maharaj – Uththara Kanda – Sage Kakabhusundi explains the Paramarththa – The human body is the vehicle to attain the Sacchidhananda Swaroopa Paramathma Parambhramam/ Godhead

Chapter -96 – Sri Ramacharitha Manas – Uththara Kanda – Sage Kakabhusundi explains the Paramarththa - The human body is the vehicle to attain the Sacchidhananda Swaroopa Paramathma Parambhramam/ Godhead

Sage Kakabhusundi speaks “Oh! Pannagari, the Veda, scriptures, Nigamagama Shastras, Santh, Mahathma, and noble souls highly emphasize the ‘Love and kindness to fellow creatures as Supreme noble character’.  Oh! Khagapathi, the silk clothes are woven out of the silk thread produced by the silkworms are highly praised, likewise, all the creatures are born with impurities of Kama, Krodha, Lobha, Moha, Madha, Mathshcharya, Ahamkara, and Mamakara, should strive to achieve devotion at the lotus feet of Lord Rama, thereby get rid of impurities and sufferings of worldly existence. The human body is the vehicle to strive to achieve the final object of pure love and devotion at the lotus feet of Lord Sri Hari by word, mind, and deed. The wise and learned never admire the Jeeva hostile to Lord Rama, even if he is Lord Bhrama. Oh! Garuda, I have achieved the firm devotion and love at the lotus feet of Rama while I was in the body of crow, and it is deeply rooted in me, hence I dearly love to keep myself in the form of a crow.  Although I have attained the boon of Icchamrithyu/death at one’s wish, I do not want to abandon the body of the crow, because it is the tool to achieve that Sacchidhananda Swaroopa Paramathma Parambhramam, and worship my beloved Lord Rama. The Veda and scriptures highly praise that the veneration of supreme Bhramam is capable only with the bodily frame. Oh! Garuda, I was besieged with the Maya of Mayapathi for some time, I have been indifferent to Lord Rama, hence I was been into troubles constantly, hence I did not get the serenity of the mind. Oh! Garuda, I have practiced Japa, Thapa, Yoga, austerities, performed charities, fire sacrifices, Shamadhamadhi in several births, and I have been indulged in material interest too, but I was never happy before as I am now. Oh! Khagapathi, I could recollect my previous births with the grace of Lord Shambhu, hence I am free from the delusion.”

Garuda speaks “Oh! Prabho, how did the ‘Time’ factor did not influence you? Oh! Kripalu, is that the power of your Yoga or Thapa? Or the depth of spiritual knowledge? Oh! Prabho, all my misapprehensions, and delusions have disappeared the moment I have visited your hermitage. Oh! Prabho kindly explains all that to me.”

Lord Mahadeva speaks “Oh! Uma, the crow Kakabhusundi was highly pleased to listen to the amiable words of Garuda and began to speak affectionately. ‘Oh! Garuda, Oh! Enemy of serpents, you are extremely fortunate, and intelligent, all your questions are very pleasing to me. All your questions asked were reminded of my previous births, Oh! Garuda, I shall describe them elaborately, kindly listen to them attentively with utmost reverence. Oh! Khagapathi, the piousness of performance of Shamadhamadhi/Sathyam, Dhaya, Shamam, Dhamam, Shaucham, Dhanam, Astheyam, Ahimsa, Arjjavam, austerities, vows, penance, Yoga, Japa, Thapa, Yaga, charity, observance of celibacy, meditation, contemplation, etc. are the FRUITS of devotion at the lotus feet of Lord Sri Ramachandra, without this none could attain serenity of mind. Oh! Garuda, I have attained the fruitfulness of devotion at the lotus feet of Lord Rama with the appearance of a crow, hence the body of crow is dear to me, and it is obvious that we all love the character that brought the ultimate object in our lives.”

Chapter -94 – Sri Ramacharitha Manas – Uththara Kanda – Garuda requests Sage Kakabhusundi to describe the reason for his appearance as a crow to worship Lord Sri Rama

Garuda repeatedly prostrated before Sage Kakabhusundi, and spoke gentle words with folded hands “Oh! Prabho, ocean of mercy, kindly consider me as your sincere servant, Oh! Kripasindhu, Oh! Wise, kindly clear my qualms born out of my ignorance. Oh! Sarbagya, you are the knower of all, you are kind and compassionate, you are wise and intelligent, you are amiable, and storehouse of virtues, and a fervent devotee of Lord Sri Ramachandra, kindly narrate why did you assume the appearance of a crow? And how did you get to know about the exploits of Lord Rama/Sri Ramacharitha Manas? Oh! Prabho, I have heard from Lord Shambhu that even the Mahapralaya could not cause destruction to this beautiful Lake of Sri Ramacharitha. Oh! Prabho, Lord Shambhu never utter a word in futile, therefore the predictions of Lord Shambhu never go to waste.  The Universe and its animate and inanimate things are perishable, including Naga, deities, humans, etc.. meets their death at the end of Yuga, the ‘Time’ factor is unconquerable, has a stronghold on all the animate and inanimate things in the Universe, hence all the animate and inanimate things are perishable.”

Sri Ramacharitha Manas – Sri Tulsidas Maharaj – Uththara Kanda – Sage Kakabhusundi describes the easiest way to achieve the grace of Lord Sri Ramachandra - spiritual knowledge is impossible to attain without a preceptor

Chapter -93 – Sri Ramacharitha Manas – Uththara Kanda – Sage Kakabhusundi describes the easiest way to achieve the grace of Lord Sri Ramachandra - spiritual knowledge is impossible to attain without a preceptor

Sage Kakabhusundi describes the Viratswaroopa of Lord Sri Hari to Garuda “Oh! Thatha, the supreme Lord Rama is incomparable, the Nigamagamashasthras, Sages, and Rishis eulogize the Lord as there is no deity as Lord Rama, even the Lord Surya has a little bit of taint in him. The Sages and Rishis praise the splendor of the Lord according to their intellect, and they take great pleasure in singing in praise of the Lord who is truly kind and compassionate to his devotees. Oh! Garuda, the virtues of Lord Rama is countless, who can measure the depth of it? I have described a few of them that I have heard from the Santh Mahathma. The Supreme Lord Rama is an ocean of compassion, bliss, and mercy that can be attained only through the practice of pure love and devotion. Therefore, whoever wants to attain the grace of Seethapathi Lord Sri Ramachandra should abandon the Kama, Krodha, Lobha, Moha, Madha, Mathshcharya, Ahamkara, and Mamakara, and excessive interest in worldly matters, possession, richness, wealth, fame, children, wife, companion and relatives, etc.”

The King of birds, Garuda was extremely delighted to listen to the nectar-like speeches of Sage Kakabhusundi, he fluttered his wings in extreme joy, tears were overflown, immersed in extreme bliss, started meditating upon the Supreme Lord Rama. Garuda was extremely saddened to remember his illusion, watching the compassionate Lord Rama fastened by the Nagapasha on the battlefield, and considered the supreme Bhramam as a mere mortal. He repeatedly prostrated before Sage Kakabhusundi, remembering he is none other than Rama himself. The Jeeva cannot attain spiritual wisdom without the guidance of a preceptor, even if he is Bhrama or Shambhu. Garuda spoke in tears “Oh! Prabho, I was bitten by the serpent of illusion watching Lord Rama fastened by the Nagapasha on the battlefield. Oh! Sage, the compassionate Lord protected me by sending to you, an ardent devotee of the Lord and thereby saved me from delusion, hence I have got rid of my misapprehension with your grace, I have learned incomparable might of Lord Rama from you.”
