Sri Ramacharitha Manas – Sri Tulsidas Maharaj – Uththara Kanda – Sage Kakabhusundi describes the splendor of Lord Rama

Chapter -92 – Sri Ramacharitha Manas – Uththara Kanda – Sage Kakabhusundi describes the splendor of Lord Rama

Sage Kakabhusundi speaks “Oh! Garuda, the supreme Lord Rama has the speed of hundreds and thousands of Maruthgans/ wind, and the has the brilliance of hundred and thousands of sun/Surya, he is pleasant as the hundred and thousands of moon rays, he is the destroyer of grief and sufferings of worldly existence. He is enticing and unapproachable as hundred and thousands of deaths, he is uncontrollable as the hundred and thousands of fire/Agni. He is unfathomable as the Pathaloka/Nether land, and dreadful as Yamas. He has the purifying effects of hundred and thousands of sacred places, the mere utterance of his name would remove the accumulated sins of several births. The hero of Raghu is steady as Mount Himalaya and unfathomable as the ocean, he resembles the divine Kamadhenu/cow, fulfills all the desires of the worshiper. He resembles hundred and thousands of Devi Sharadha who is the goddess of wisdom and knowledge, he resembles hundred and thousands of Lord Bhrama/creativity, he represents several thousand of the preserver/Lord Vishnu and the destroyer/Lord Rudra. He resembles hundred and thousands of Lords Kubera, he is the creator of the Universe and its living and non-living things with the influence of his Maya, he represents Adhishesha who carries the Universe on its hood. Oh! Garuda, he is Jagadheesha/Lord of Universe, who is beyond description and perception as well.”

Chapter -91 – Sri Ramacharitha Manas – Uththara Kanda – Sage Kakabhusundi describes the importance of devotion at the lotus feet of Lord Rama

Sage Kakabhusundi speaks “Oh! Garuda, there won’t be devotion without the faith, Rama never gets pleased without the pure devotion, and the Jeevas cannot achieve serenity of mind, or free from sufferings and grief of worldly existence, and repeated cycles of birth without the grace of Lord Rama. Oh! Garuda, abandon your interest in worldly matters and contemplate upon the lotus feet of Lord of Raghu, Rama who is the fountain of mercy and bliss. I have not learned or have no extraordinary skill, although I have narrated the exploits of Rama according to my intellect, it was the grace of the Lord, I could witness the glories of infant Rama. Oh!  Garuda, Rama is eternal as his exploits/Rama is Anantha like his glorious myths. Rama’s virtues, valor, gracefulness, beauty, intelligence, wisdom, knowledge is beyond description, the Sages, Mahatmas, and noble souls take pleasure in singing in praise of that Lord according to their wits, even the Veda, Devi Saraswathi, Lord Adishesha, and Lord Shambhu are incompetent to describe the splendor of Lord Rama. Oh! Garuda, birds take a flight to the sky, but can’t reach the end of vast sky, likewise, the exploits of Lord Sri Hari are eternal as himself. Lord Rama has the marvelous appearance, possesses the valor of several Durga, enjoys the luxuries of several Indras, and his incarnations are infinite as his glorious myths.”

Sri Ramacharitha Manas – Sri Tulsidas Maharaj – Uththara Kanda – The significance of the practice of worship of Lord Sri Hari

Chapter -90 – Sri Ramacharitha Manas – Uththara Kanda – The significance of the practice of worship of Lord Sri Hari

Sage Kakabhusundi speaks “Oh! Khagapathi, 1) is it possible to achieve spiritual knowledge without a preceptor? It’s absolutely no, 2) is it possible to achieve spiritual knowledge without the sense of dispassion? It is absolutely no again, 3) Did Veda Purana Nigamagamashasthras describe happiness without the devotion at the lotus feet of Lord Sri Ramachandra? Definitely not,  4) Is it possible to achieve peace without contentment/satisfaction? Absolutely no,  5) will a ferry float without water? Definitely not. Oh! Khagapathi, the desires will not stop until you achieve contentment, as long as the desires crop up without a break, there will be no happiness, not even in dreams. 6) Is it possible to get rid of desires without the worship of Lord Rama? Absolutely no, 7) how can a tree grow without the soil? It is possible to achieve serenity of mind without spiritual knowledge? Is it possible to move without space? Is there any piety without the practice of devotion? Oh! Garuda, without penance there is no achievement in spiritual knowledge like there is no smell without the presence of earth, or no taste without water, no virtues without intellect, or no existence of animate and inanimate things without the five elements. In the same manner, the soul cannot achieve bliss without the knowledge of Oneness-in-all, like the sensation of touch cannot be experienced without the presence of air, likewise, the fruitfulness of life cannot be achieved without faith. Oh! Garuda, the fear of death, and transmigration/repeated births will not cease without the practice of worship of Lord Sri Hari.”

Sri Ramacharitha Manas – Sri Tulsidas Maharaj – Uththara Kanda – The pure love at the lotus feet of Lord Rama is the source of devotion

Chapter -89 – Sri Ramacharitha Manas – Uththara Kanda – The pure love at the lotus feet of Lord Rama is the source of devotion

Sage Kakabhusundi speaks “Oh! Khagapathi, the men and women of the Kingdom of Ayodhya, including the supreme Lord Shambhu took great pleasure in the various amusement of infant Rama. Lord Shambhu attired in a garland of the skull, smeared in sacred ashes, adorned in serpents as ornaments, attired in the skin of a leopard, was present to witness the various amusement of infant Rama, and whoever witnessed that lovely childhood sport of Rama won’t yearn for the achievement of Bhramam not even in their dream. Thus, I have lived in Ayodhya for a few years and took great pleasure in the childhood sport of infant Rama, after obtaining the grace of that Lord, and perpetual devotion as a boon, I have returned to my hermitage and continued meditation and contemplation upon Lord Sri Hari, afterward I have not fallen victim of the formidable Maya of that Mayapathi Lord Rama. Oh! Garuda, I have narrated how the Maya of that Mayapathi made me dance to her tune, Oh! Khagapathi, I shall tell you the truth, unless and until we worship at the lotus feet of Lord Rama, our troubles will not end. Oh! King of birds, the devotion at the lotus feet of Lord Rama can’t be achieved without his grace, without firm faith you cannot achieve love at the lotus feet of Lord Rama. Therefore, pure love at the lotus feet of Lord Rama is the source of ‘Devotion’/Bhakthi.”

Chapter -88 – Sri Ramacharitha Manas – Uththara Kanda – Sage Kakabhusundi describes the boon he has received from Lord Rama

Lord Rama speaks “Oh! Kakabhusundi, whoever be it Purusha/male, Nari/female, or Napumsaka/mixed gender, or any creatures or animate or inanimate things worship me I would ensure their protection, if they adore me with innocent heart, they are supremely dear to me. Oh! Khaga, the sincerity of the worshiper lures my heart, hence worship me with pure love and devotion, without any desire or personal motive. I shall promise you, the ‘Time’ will not take control over you, worship me with intense devotion and faith.” Sage Kakabhusundi speaks to Guruda “Oh! Khagapathi, after listening to the nectar-like speeches of Rama, I was transported to a state of bliss, my bodily hairs stood upright. The joy I have felt that moment was beyond description, my eyes were beholding the beauty of that Lord, how can they describe the splendor of that Lord? Thus, Lord Rama pacified me in many ways, after that once again sported like an infant Rama on the patio of the grand palace of Ayodhya, after some time the infant Rama’s started to cry looking at his mother Devi Kausalya, eyes were filled with tears as if he was hungry. Soon Devi Kausalya rushed to her child, and carried him on her bosom, and began to feed the child singing the exploits of Lord Rama.”

Sri Ramacharitha Manas – Sri Tulsidas Maharaj – Uththara Kanda – Lord Rama describes the nature of the Jeeva who is dear as his life

Chapter -87 – Sri Ramacharitha Manas – Uththara Kanda – Lord Rama describes the nature of the Jeeva who is dear as his life

Lord Rama spoke “Oh! Kakabhusundi, who does not love a sincere servant, an ardent devotee? Listen to me carefully, I shall describe an interesting note described by the Veda and scriptures.  A father has nine sons and each of them has different qualities, virtues, and nature. One of them became learned, another one became spiritual seeker, another one undertook austerities, Japa, Thapa, etc. the fourth one became wealthiest, the fifth one became warrior, the sixth one became noble and highly generous, the seventh one has deep knowledge in different fields, and the eighth one is pious, but father loves all his sons dearly. The ninth son was too devoted to his father by word, mind, and deed; hence his father was too attached to him, obviously loved that son dearly as his life. Oh! Kakabhusundi, in this way, all the animate and inanimate things in the Universe are created by me with the influence of my inseparable Maya, hence all are dear to me, I am equally fond of them. Although, whoever devoted to me by word, mind, and deed, leaving interest in worldly matters, richness, fame, money, wealth, possession, children, wife, relatives, and companion, and free from the impurities of Kama, Krodha, Lobha, Moha, Madha, Mathshcharya, Ahamkara, and Mamakara,  are dearer as my life.”

Sri Ramacharitha Manas – Sri Tulsidas Maharaj – Uththara Kanda – Lord Sri Ramachandra describes the nature of his creation

Chapter -86 – Sri Ramacharitha Manas – Uththara Kanda – Lord Sri Ramachandra describes the nature of his creation

The compassionate Lord Rama spoke “Oh! Kakabhusundi, now onwards you will be free my formidable Maya, it will not cloud your mind anymore, henceforth you will be equivalent to Bhramam, which is pure, unblemished, changeless, free from afflictions, has neither birth nor death. Oh! Kakabhusundi, my devotees are always dear to me, knowing that continue to practice devotion by words, mind, and deeds, strictly adhere to the principles and teachings of Veda and scriptures that eulogize the worship of me with words, mind, and deed. The Universe and its living and non-living things have been created with the Maya of mine, it is not real, it's mere illusion, and has fleeting nature. I love all the animate and inanimate things in this Universe I have created with the influence of Maya, and humans are the dearest among them, 1) the Bhramanas who are well versed in Veda and scriptures, strictly follow the principles of Veda, are the most beloved of mine, 2)  and another favorite of mine is Jeeva who is dispassionate, abandoned the interest in worldly matters and material things such as fame, money, richness, wealth, children, wife, relatives and companion, etc. has the knowledge of ‘Oneness-in-all’ 3) and most favorite of mine is the Jeeva who is surrendered to me by word, mind, and deed. Oh! Kakabhusundi, there is no one dear as my devotees, even if it is Lord Bhrama or any teeny tiny creature worships me I would assure protection to them in all their lives, my devotees are beloved of mine.”
