Sri Ramacharitha Manas – Sri Tulsidas Maharaj – Uththara Kanda – The unconquerable Maya of Mayapathi Lord Sri Ramachandra

Chapter - 71– Sri Ramacharitha Manas – Uththara Kanda – The unconquerable Maya of Mayapathi Lord Sri Ramachandra

Sage Kakabhusundi speaks “ Oh! Garuda, is there any wise, intellectual, noble soul, ascetic, a man of virtues freed from greed? Lust? Desire?Pride? Or Anger? Is there anyone who has not been smitten by the lustful shaft-like glances of young women? Who is free from the Thrigunas/Swathik, Rajasik and Thamasik nature? Who is free from arrogance and pride? Who is not swollen with the pride of youthful days? Who is freed from worldly matters, and attachment to material things such as possession, wealth, money, richness, fame, children, wife, relatives, companion, etc.? Who is not swollen with excessive pride? Who is not shaken by the grief and distress? Who is not bitten by the serpent of attachment, care, love, lust, desire? Who is in this Universe freed from the powerful Maya/delusion of Maypathi? Again, who has the firmness of mind, whose body is not consumed by lust and desire, like the wood is eaten by the moth? Whose mind is free from the desire for a virtuous progeny, wealth, and fame? All these are contributed by the unconquerable Maya of Mayapathi, likewise, there are endless impurities of mind difficult to name. Lord Bhrama and Lord Shambhu were afraid of the delusion/Maya of Mayapathi, hence what would I say about the ordinary creatures like us?”

Mune, I was perturbed to witness the mighty Lord Rama fastened by the Nagapasha on the battlefield, I have realized the supreme Lord Sri Ramachandra is knowledge and bliss personified. Oh! Mune, after witnessing Lord Rama lamenting over the happenings on different occasions like an ordinary soul, kindled my doubts, I have understood the reason for my qualms was a blessing of Lord Rama who is the ocean of mercy, and he is the only one who can remove the scorching heat like grief and anxiousness of worldly existence. Oh! Prabho, if I was not influenced by the Maya of that Mayapthi, how could I meet you in the Neelashaila? And how could I get the opportunity to listen to the marvelous exploits of Lord Sri Hari sung by you? The Veda and Scriptures, and illustrious Sages and Rishis emphasize that the association of Santh, Mahathma, and noble souls, which is the only source to achieve supreme wisdom/Jeevathma is Paramathma and perpetual devotion/Ananyabhakthi at the lotus feet of Lord Sri Ramachandra.
