Chapter – 19– Sri Ramacharitha Manas – Kishkindha Kanda– Lakshman arrives in the city of Kishkindha to meet Sugrivah

The Lord of Raghu who is the ocean of mercy, pacified Lakshman “Oh! Brother, Sugrivah is our closest associate, you should not hurt him, you threaten him and bring him before me.” In the meantime, Hanuman the son of Lord Vayu was thought “Sugrivah has forgotten the promise given to Lord Rama” hence, he approached Sugrivah and prostrated before him, and reminded him of the promise he has given to Lord Rama. Sugrivah was alarmed and replied to Hanuman “Oh! Son of Vayu, I have completely forgotten the promise to Lord Raghu, my interest in sensual pleasures and worldly matters stolen my good sense. Oh! Hanuman, the troops of monkey warriors are scattered all over, summoned them up and if anyone fails to meet me in two weeks would meet their death in my hands.” Soon, Hanuman send messengers to all directions, convinced them politely about the urgency of the situation, and influenced his tactics to obey his order, the messengers bowed before Hanuman and proceeded their journey to gather all the monkey warriors from different directions. At that very moment, Lakshman entered the city of Kishkindha, the monkey warriors were terrified watching him, flew into different directions.

Chapter – 18– Sri Ramacharitha Manas – Kishkindha Kanda– Rama express concern over Sugrivah’s disregard to keep up the promise

Rama speaks “Oh! Lakshman, the insects, and bugs have perished in the autumn season, as if the fortunate Jeeva found his preceptor, and got rid of misconceptions, sufferings, and grief of worldly existence. Oh! Brother, the rainy and autumn seasons are over, we did not hear anything about Devi Sita, If I got to know the whereabouts of Devi Sita, I would bring her back, even if she is in the hands of Lord Yama if she is alive wherever she is I would bring her back to my life. Oh! Dear brother, I think Sugrivah has forgotten completely about the promise to me, he has his own life, kingdom, treasures, wife, possessions, fame, etc. If so, I will shoot him to death with the same arrow that pierced the heart of Vali.” Lord Shambhu speaks “Oh! Devi Uma, the compassionate Lord Sri Ramachandra whose fleeting look provides serenity and removes the pride and infatuation of the Jeeva, would be able to get angry on the Jeeva? The enlightened sages and Rishis who have utmost love and devotion at the lotus feet of Rama only know the heart of Rama.” As soon as Lakshman perceived Rama is angry, he prepared to leave the forest with his bow and arrow to meet Sugrivah.

Sri Ramacharitha Manas – Sri Tulsidas Maharaj – Kishkindha Kanda – Rama describes the beauty of Prashravana Hills

Chapter – 17– Sri Ramacharitha Manas – Kishkindha Kanda– Rama describes the beauty of Prashravana Hills

Rama speaks “Oh! Lakshman, there are four stages of Ashrama Dharma such as Bhramacharya, Grihastha, Vanaprastha, and Sanyasa, like there are four sets of people, the Jeeva acquire devotion at the lotus feet of Lord Sri Hari like the King prepares to extend his domain of the Kingdom, ascetics leave the crowded places in search for a serene and beautiful woods to conduct austerities and penances, the merchants/Vaishya visit foreign land in search for the prospective buyers for his products, and the mendicants leaves the village in search for alms. Oh! Lakshman, the fishes are happy in the deep waters, like the Jeeva who have taken shelter at the lotus feet of Lord Sri Hari, whoever taken shelter in me won’t face any trouble or sufferings in their lives. The charming fully blossomed lotus flowers resemble the absolute Bhramam, which is surrounded by the humming honey bees and beautiful birds producing diverse sounds of the concert giving out stunning appearance in the hills. The Chakravah bird is extremely sad in the night like the wicked people get jealous of others’ fortune. The  Chathaka birds cry loud to quench their thirst, like the disbeliever in Lord Shankara who lacks peace of mind. The cool moon rays in the night relieve the heat of the day, as the sight of the holy men, ascetics, preceptors drives away the sins of the Jeeva. The flocks of Chakora birds gazing at the moon, like the Yogis and Thapasvis yearning to perceive that supreme Lord Sri Hari. The insects and bugs have perished due to fear of cold, just as the hostility towards Bhramins brings the destruction of the entire clan.”

Chapter – 16– Sri Ramacharitha Manas – Kishkindha Kanda– Rama describes the autumn season in the Prashravana hills

Rama spoke “Oh! Lakshman, the strong wind disperses the clouds into different directions, as if the birth of an unworthy offspring in the noble family makes the family customs and traditions disappear forever. The day has become too dark in the rainy season, unlike the hot climate, just as the wisdom-like bright sunlight removes the darkness of ignorance and the association of the wicked and deceitful people. Oh! Lakshman, the rainy season got over, the beautiful autumn has arrived, the Earth has been covered with Kasha grass packed with white flowers as if the rainy season has exposed its old age. The constellation known as Agasthya dried up the water on the pathways like the contentment swallowed up the greed in the Jeeva. The serene water in the ponds and lakes resemble the heart of the ascetics, Rishis, and Sages free from impurities of the minds. Oh! Lakshman, the waters in the wells, rivers, and ponds are beginning to dry as if the wise and noble souls abandon their interest in worldly matters and material things. The autumn season has brought the rarest species of Kanjjana birds to appear on the scene as if the pieties of meritorious deeds appear in the life of Jeeva. The Earth is spectacular without mud and dirt as if the country flourishes with the ruling of a wise leader who is well-versed in political science. The fishes are getting anxious about the diminishing water level like the rich people get anxious about the scarcity of the fund. The cloudless sky is bright like the devotees of Lord Hari who have abandoned the interest in worldly matters and material things. There are light showers in the autumn season that resemble the Jeeva develops the practice of devotion in me.”

Sri Ramacharitha Manas – Sri Tulsidas Maharaj – Kishkindha Kanda – Paramarththa Thaththva

Chapter – 15– Sri Ramacharitha Manas – Kishkindha Kanda– Paramarththa Thaththva

Rama spoke “Oh! Lakshman, the Earth has soaked in water and greens, hence it is difficult to find the footprints, just as the sacred scriptures permeated with doctrines are difficult to understand for the ignorant Jeeva. Oh! Lakshman, all I could hear was the croaking of the frogs, which resembles the Vedic chants of a large number of disciples in the hermitage. The trees, creepers, and plants are loaded with fresh leaves that resemble the cheerful and enthusiastic minds of the wise and intellectuals who have attained the supreme wisdom of Paramarththa. The fallen leaves of the Javasa plant resemble the wicked and deceitful Jeeva meets miserable end under the excellent statesmanship. Oh! Lakshman, the Earth is soaked in water, there is not a single speck of dust is visible, like the austerities, penance, vows, celibacy, Shamadhamadhi, etc. removes the impurities of the mind of the Sadhaka/seeker of truth. The earth is bountiful with rich natural and mineral wealth that resembles the affluence of the generous man. The pack of fireflies in the dark hours of the night appears as a band of hypocrites to me. The fields are flooded with water that destroyed the crops like the women get spoiled of excessive freedom. The clever farmers pull out the crops from the flooded waters in the fields, as if the wise abandon the interest in worldly matters and interest in material things of destructible nature. The Chakravaha birds are not seen, as if the virtues and moralities are disappeared in the Kali era. Although the downpour spread water equally on the Earth, the barren lands remain the same without a single shoot of grass, like the need for physical pleasures does not touch the devotees of Lord Hari. The Earth looks beautiful with bountiful crops and living creatures as if the Kingdom grows with its population. Oh! Lakshman, the pedestrians have halted here and there in this rainy season, as if the wisdom brought control over the senses.”

Chapter – 14– Sri Ramacharitha Manas – Kishkindha Kanda– Lord Rama describes the beauty of the rainy season in Prashravana hills – Paramarththa Thaththva

Rama spoke “Oh! Lakshman, look at the marvelous sight of the peacock dancing watching the freshly formed clouds like the devotees of Lord Vishnu rejoice at the heart of perceiving Lord Vishnu, even the hermit, dispassionate householder would rejoice at this sight. The roaring clouds dispersing in utter desolation like me in the absence of Devi Sita, the lightning piercing through the clouds resembles the unfaithful companions. Oh! Lakshman, the heavy downpour resembles the humility of the learned and noble souls, the mountain gracefully bearing the heavy downpour like the wise and noble souls take all the criticisms and humiliations of the wicked without uttering a single word. The water streaming down at a great speed from the mountains resembles the wicked achieved great treasure. The water gushed down from the hills fallen on the Earth with the beautiful splash resembles the Jeeva taken birth on the Earth instantly gets encircled by the Maya. The water flowing from all the directions assembles in a pool appears as the commendable virtues described in the scriptures that find their way to infuse in the heart of noble souls. The water from the various pools and rivers assemble in the ocean at the end, just as the impurities of the Jeeva take rest at the devotion on the lotus feet of Lord Hari.”

Sri Ramacharitha Manas – Sri Tulsidas Maharaj – Kishkindha Kanda – The beauty of Mount Prashravana

Chapter – 13– Sri Ramacharitha Manas – Kishkindha Kanda– The beauty of Mount Prashravana

The deities have already arranged a beautiful cave in the mountain Prashravana for the merciful Lord. The mountain was surrounded by a bountiful beautiful forest, the trees and creepers were loaded with flowers and succulent fruits, with the sound of buzzing bees and chirping of birds. The rooted vegetables and fruits of varieties grow in abundance in the Prashravana, Lord Rama was attracted by the beauty of the hill decided to stay with Lakshman for another few months in the Prashravana hills, the deities disguised as inhabitants of the woods, bees, humans, birds, animals, and served the Lord. The forest was resembled the abode of Goddess Sri Mahalakshmi, provided an abundance of richness and beauty to her beloved Lord. Rama took a seat on the large crystal rock and gave lectures on spiritual wisdom, political science, Bhakti, dispassion/Vairagya, etc. to Lakshman. Eventually, the sky packed with the rain clouds made rumbling noises as the preparation for a heavy downpour.
