Chapter -12 - Uththara

Pakshiraja went to meet
Lord Bhrama, and revealed his disturbed state of mind. Lord Bhrama immersed in
meditation, prostrated heartily contemplating Lord Srirama, and his generosity,
highly praised Prabhu in his heart and began to speak “Oh! Garuda, The
intellectuals, saintly, sages, ascetics are under the constant influence of the
powerful Maya of the supreme Lord, it is unconquerable, and it has influenced
me as well. The whole Universe and the creation of living and non-living things
by the supreme Lord are under the constant clutches of that powerful Maya and
therefore no surprise you have persuaded by his Maya” Lord Bhrama spoke to him
softly “Oh! Garuda, Lord Maheswara knows the splendor of Lord Ramachandra,
therefore Oh! Son, you go and meet him. There is only one place you will get an answer
for all your queries that would help you to get rid of the Maya.” Thus,
Pakshiraja left the abode of Lord Bhrama.
Lord Mahadeva speaks “Oh!
Uma, Pakshiraja enthusiastically came to meet me, I was prepared to leave to
the abode of Lord Kubera, and you were in Mount Kailash. He prostrated before
me, and put forward all his qualms, he was so humble, so I spoke to him affectionately
“Oh! Garuda, you have met me on the way, how did I remove your doubts in a
short period of time? You have to be in the association of Sadhus for a long
period of time to get relieved from your qualms. You have to listen to the
glorious myths and legends sung in praise of Lord Hari, the legends and various
amusement of Sri Rama would remove all your doubts. Oh! Brother, I shall
suggest you where to go, the place where the Harikatha takes place on a regular
basis, go and listen to it carefully when you listen to it more and more, all
your doubts will get cleared automatically, that would provide intense devotion
and faith upon Lord Sri Rama. The Harikatha takes place only in the association
of Sadhus, without listening to it, none your doubts/Mahamoha will get cleared,
a desireless person only can approach the lotus feet of Lord Hari with intense
devotion and faith. The Yoga, Yaga, Tapas, Vratha, Gnana, Vairagya are the
means for the path of devotion, but love and Anananyabhakthi only would lead to
achieving the lotus feet of that Prabhu. There is a beautiful mountain named
Nilgiri on the northern side of Sumeru, there is a fervent devotee of Lord
Rama, living in this beautiful place, Kakabhushundi who is profound in the
Bhakti Yoga, highly intelligent, the storehouse of virtues, and elderly as well.
He always contemplates upon Lord Rama and sings in praise of him, and recites
Sriramacharitham passionately; he has huge listeners as birds. Therefore you
meet Kakabhushundi, and listen to the glorious myths of Prabhu and get relieved
your doubts; all your grief caused by the Mahamoha would go away.” I have made him understand, and prompted to
visit Kakabhushundi in Nilgiri, he prostrated before me and flew away."
Lord Mahadeva speaks “Oh!
Uma, I did not advise Garuda, I have understood that he is under the clutches
of the Maya of that Lord, must be to
teach him a lesson for his mistake, and another reason was the birds
communicate each other’s very well, that the reason I have referred him to crow
Kakabhushundi. Oh! Bhavani, the Maya of Prabhu is extremely powerful, who is
capable to get freed from it?” The
Bhakthashiromani and wise Garuda who is a sincere servant of Lord Mahavishnu
got under the influence of Maya, so not to talk about the ordinary Jeeva, even
the Lord Bhrama and Lord Shiva gets besieged with the Maya of the Lord. Garuda
has sharp knowledge, and intense devotion at the feet of Lord Sri Hari, rushed
to the place of Sage Kakabhushundi, the moment he witnessed that beautiful and
serene mountain, all his Maya, Moha, worries were disappeared, he put out
thirst from the crystal clear and sweet
waters, and took a bath from the pond and seated under the Vatavruksha. There
were several elderly birds who were present to listen to Ramacharitha, it was
Bhushundi who was begin his lecture Garuda arrived, everyone got highly pleased
watching him. Bhushundi received Garuda with great respect, enquired welfare of
each other, and offered a raised seat to him and worshiped him. Kakabhushundi
spoke affectionately “Oh! Prabho, I am fortunate to have your Dharshan, Oh! Pakshiraja,
kindly tell me the reason for your visit.” Garuda replied “Oh! Thatha, You are
highly respectable, and kind, Lord Shiva
highly praised your virtues, my purpose of visit has fulfilled, and I got an
opportunity to meet you. Oh! Thatha,
after witnessing your hermitage, all my doubts, false interpretations, and
ignorance, have vanished. Oh! Thatha, kindly describe the highly propitious
Ramacharitha which is the supreme cure for all kinds of miseries and sorrows.
Oh! Prabho, this is the only request I have to make.”
Kakabhushundi was highly
pleased watching the humility, respect, straightforwardness of Garuda, began to
give lectures on glorious Ramacharitha and the virtues of Rama. Lord Mahadeva
speaks “Oh! Bhavani, Sage Kakabhushundi described the beautiful lake/Saras of
Ramacharitha passionately. 1) The illusion caused to Maharishi Narada, and the
birth of Ravana. 2) He beautifully sang the incarnation of the Supreme Lord as
the Raghukulathilaka, and his childhood amusements. 3) The arrival of Maharishi
Vishwamithra in the palace of Ayodhya, eventually the wedding of Prabhu with
Devi Janaki 4) He described the coronation ceremony of Ramachandra as the King
of Ayodhya, and the obstacle caused by the promises given to Devi Kaikeyi by
Maharaja Dhasharatha, 5) Prabhu’s decision to leave the palace of Ayodhya,
conversation between Lakshman and Rama, and the grief of the people of Ayodhya
from the pain of separation from Prabhu 6) The devotion of Nishadharaja,
worship of sacred river Ganga and stay in Prayaga 7) Prabhu’s visit to
Maharishi Valmiki, and Prabhu’s stay in the hermitage in Chitrakoot 8)
Sumanthra’s return to the palace, the death of King Dhasharatha, Bharatha’s return
from maternal uncle’s home, Kaikeyi’s confession to her son, the performance of
final rites of Dhasharatha, 9) Bharatha returns to the wood in search of Prabhu,
was pacified by him and offered his Padhuka, Bharatha returns with the Padhuka
and installed on the throne of Ayodhya to worship. 10) Bharatha’s living in the
hermitage in Nandagau, 11) Jayantha who is the son of Lord Indra’s misdemeanor
to Devi Janaki 12) Prabhu’s meeting with Sage Athri and Devi Anasuya, 13)
Prabhu’s life in the Dhandakavanam, Viradhavadham, Sage Sharabhanga’s
Dhehaviyoga, the devotion of Sutheekshna, and Prabhu’s meeting with Sage Agasthya. 14)Sage
Kakabhushundi described the companionship of Prabhu with the Ghridhraraja
Jatayu 15) Prabhu’s stay in the Panchavati and removed the fears of the Sages
and ascetics 16) Prabhu imparts the lessons on scriptures to Lakshman and Lakshman
disfigured Shoorpanakha who is the sister of Ravan, 17) Kharadhooshana and
Thrishirass and numerous demons were killed in the woods, Ravana came to know
about the destruction of his clan approaches Mareecha seeking help to disguise
as golden deer 18) Ravana abducts the Mayasita and the grief of Raghava due to

Kabandhavadham provided Moksha to Shabari, Raghuveeras Virahathapa, and
Prabhu’s arrival at the shores of Pampa. 20) Sage Kakabhushundi narrated the
Prabhu’s meeting with Maharishi Narada, meeting with Hanuman, the agreement
between Rama and Sugriva, and Balivadham. 21) Sugriva’s coronation ceremony as
the King of Kishkindha, Prabhu’s stay at Prashravana, 22) Prabhu’s description
on Sharath and Varasharithu, and the anger of Prabhu on Sugriva 23) Sugriva
sends a huge army of Vanaras in search for Devi Sita to four directions, 24) The
army led by Angadha, Hanuman and Jambavan trapped into a cave on the southern
direction, was protected by the ascetic Swayamprabha, 25) The meeting with Sampathi
who is the elder brother to Jatayu, he performs final rites for his brother and
informs the whereabouts of Devi Sita 26) Vayuputhra crosses the vast ocean and
reaches in Lanka, on his way met obstacles like Nagamatha Surasa, Mount Himavan
and the wicked demon Simhika, he was detained by Lankini met death and got
relieved from the curse of a sage 27) Hanuman meets Devi Sita in the
Ashokavatika and handover the ring of Prabhu and received Choodamani to deliver
to Prabhu, destroys the pleasure gardens and beautiful woods of Lanka, killed
numerous demons, Akshakumara, ministers of Ravana, and held a vicious battle
with Indrajith, in that Hanuman fastened with the Bhramasthra took to the
assembly of Ravana 28)Hanuman advises Ravana was got fired on his tail and
eventually burned the whole of Lanka, returned to Rama 29) On the way to
Kishkindha destroyed the pleasure garden of Sugriva Madhuvana and meet Prabhu
with the Choodamani 30,) Raghava arrives on the shores of Sethu and appealed to
Samudraraja was ignored, finally got crushed the pride of Samudraraja, a huge
bridge was constructed across the ocean under the leadership of Nala and Neela,
31) Vibheeshana takes shelter at the lotus feet of Prabhu 32) Angadha was send
as an emissary of Rama to meet Ravana, 33) The battle between Rakshasa and Vanaras
34) The battle between Rama and Ravana, death of Indrajith, Kumbhakarnna and
entire demon clan. 35) The death of Ravana and the grief of Devi Mandodhari. 36)
The crowning ceremony of Vibheeshana as the King of Lanka, thus the grief of
deities removed and Devi Sita and Rama united once again. 37)They have returned to Ayodhya in
Pushpakaviman, on the way, met Sage
Bharadhwaja, Hanuman informs Bharatha about the Prabhu’s return to Ayodhya 38)
Rama’s return to the city of Ayodhya, a grand coronation ceremony of Rama as
the King of Ayodhya, the Sage Kakabhushundi described the splendor of Kingdom
of Ayodhya and its people. Oh! Bhavani, I have narrated all those were narrated
by Sage Kakabhushundi to me.”
Garuda highly pleased
listening to the glorious myths of Prabhu from Sage Kakabhushundi and spoke “Oh!
Prabhu, all my false interpretations and confusions got over after listening to
the glorious myths of Prabhu Sri Ramachandra and it enhanced devotion in me.
Oh! Prabho, when I was met Raghurama at the battlefield fastened with the
Nagapasha, I was shattered and heaved to illusion, Rama is Sacchidhanandha
Swaroopa, and therefore how did he get bounded by these Nagapasha? That supreme
Lord incarnated as an ordinary human on the Earth that pushed me to confusion,
I feel it is a blessing in disguise; it has provided a promising opportunity
to listen to the splendor of Prabhu, the coolness of the shade of the tree
knows only the person who suffered the extreme heat. If I was not besieged by
Maya of Prabhu, how did I get to know you? How did I come to know the glorious
myths of Prabhu? The Veda and scriptures affirm that the association of the
ascetics, learned and saintly would be possible only with the grace of that
Supreme Lord, even the Siddhas, and Rishis strongly supports them. It was the
grace of that Supreme Lord I could meet you, and I could hear those marvelous
legends of Prabhu and got myself relieved from the anxiousness.” Sage
Kakabhushundi was highly pleased listening to the most promising, intelligent, and compassionate words of Garuda.
