The Bharatha, Lakshman,
Shathrughna and Hanuman prostrated before Prabhu, they wanted to hear more from
Prabhu to get relieved from false viewpoints, but reluctant to ask anything,
looked at Vayuputhra, the compassionate Lord understood the mind of his
brothers, the Antharyami spoke “Oh! Hanuman, what would you like to hear from
me?” Vayuputhra with folded hands replied “Oh! Prabho, Oh! Dheenadhayala,
kindly listen, Bharatha wants to ask you something, but he is discomfited to
put forward his doubts.” Prabhu spoke “Oh! Hanuman, you know me very well, do
we have any secrets in us?” Bharatha fell at the feet of Prabhu and spoke “Oh!
Prabhu, you remove the qualms of the people who have taken shelter at your
lotus feet, you are the destroyer of grief, Oh! Prabho, I have no doubts, or
sorrow or desire not even in my dreams. Oh! Kripanidhe, Oh! Paramanandha, it
was your compassionate grace all that I have achieved in my life. Oh!
Kripanidhe, I am your servant, and you are the source of happiness of the
people of Ayodhya, so I want to learn something. Oh! Raghava, the Veda, and
scriptures highly speak about the splendor of ascetics, sages, and Rishis, in
fact, you have mentioned that several times, I know you have great admiration
for these ascetics and saintly people. Oh! Prabho, who is the storehouse of virtues
and intelligence, kindly narrate the prime characteristics of ascetics. Oh!
Pranatharththihari, kindly impart the knowledge about how to differentiate
Sajjana/saintly men and Dhurjana/wicked.”
Prabhu Sri Rama speaks “Oh!
Brother, I shall narrate a few of the endless characteristics of the Sajjana
described in Veda and Purana, listen to me carefully, the Sajjanas and
Dhurjjanas are like sandalwood trees and axes, even after cutting down the tree
the axes will have the fragrance of sandalwood in it. The sandalwood paste is
used to adorn on deities, everyone likes it. The axes get sharpened by throwing
the iron in the blazing fire. 1) The Sadhus will not have interest in worldly
matters 2) They are the storehouse of virtues and discipline 3) They feel unhappy
watching the troubles of others, and gets immensely pleased with the welfare of others’.
4) They are serene, they will not have friends or enemies, they have balanced
state of mind and Vairagins, 5) They have won over pride, desire, lust, ego,
anger, comfort and fear, 6) They are kind and compassionate, 7) They will have
intense devotion and faith upon me 8)They show respect to everyone and
amiable by nature. 9) They are the abode of Virakthi/abandonment, Shanthi/serenity,
Bhakti/devotion, Vinaya/humility, and happiness. 10) The real Sadhus are people
who have the nature of serene, innocent, friendliness, and great respect and
devotion at the feet of twice-born who are the torch-bearers of Dharma 11) They
will have perfect control over senses, sincerely follow Dharmanushtana, and
never use hurtful words. 12) They consider respect and disrespect as the same and take shelter at my lotus feet. 13) They are the abode of virtues and bliss
personified. Oh! Bharatha, these kinds of people are beloved to me, as dear as
my life. They contemplate upon me
without any specific desires to fulfill or to achieve.”
Prabhu Sriram continues
“Oh! Bharatha, I shall narrate the characteristics of Asadhu/Dhurjjana, listen
to me carefully; do not keep association with these kinds of people not by
fault, and it provides nothing other than grief. 1)They are always unhappy and
jealous watching the progress of others 2) They take pleasure in abusing others
and takes pleasure in it, as if they have achieved immense wealth 3) They are
soaked in Kama, Krodha, Moha, Lobha, Madha, and Matshcharya, 4)These kinds of
people are cruel, deceitful, narrow-minded, keep enmity with others without reason, moreover, they misbehave to people who are promising to them 5) They are
untruthful, liars, wicked 6) They are a sweet talker like the peacock, that eats
venomous serpents 7) They are wrongdoers by nature and take pleasure in
others trouble 8) They are morally wrong, take pleasure in other’s
wives/illicit relationships. 9) Lobha is
their bed takes great pleasure in
physical relationships and consumption of meats have no knowledge of hellish tortures
10) They do not enjoy praising others and take pleasure in other’s trouble 11)
They are selfish, always immerses in search of individual happiness and keep
the family out of reach 12) They are lustful,

and Vedic way of living, and abduct wealth of twice-born 18) they keep enmity with
everyone, especially to the twice-born; they are wicked natured disguised in the
form of Saintly. These kinds of people are demons and sinners personified.”
Rama continues “Oh!
Bharatha, These kinds of deceitful people cannot be seen in Sathya Yuga and
Thretha Yuga. Dwapara there will be these kinds of wicked people to some extent,
but in Kali Yuga not to mention, there will be countless people like this can
be seen. Oh! Brother, Parahitha/working for the welfare of others is not a
Dharma, but Parapeedana/taking pleasure in troubling others verbally and
physically is the cruelest act. Oh! Dear brother, I have already narrated them
all elaborately from the Veda and scriptures, the wise understand them all. The
people who take pleasure in the wicked deeds and cruelty to others would heave
to the vicious cycles of birth and death for several Kalpa, and undergoes
endless miseries and troubles. The people commit several sinful deeds either by
selfishness or desire, and they wander without peace after death as well, as a
Yama I disperse the fruits of their good and evil Karma. The learned aware of
these facts and miseries and sorrows of the worldly existence and contemplates
upon me. The wise people understand that I am the Lord of deities, humans, and
ascetics, and contemplate upon me; they keep themselves away from the wicked
and immoral deeds and take shelter in me. I have narrated all about the
Sajjana and Dhurjjana, whoever understands this clearly will not fall in the
cycles of birth and death. Oh! Dear brothers, Guna and Dosha are the nature of
Maya, therefore leaving them all without taking notice in it is the best way to
live.” Bharatha, Lakshman, Shathrughna, and Hanuman highly pleased listening to
the nectar-like speeches of Prabhu. They prostrated before Prabhu, shortly all
of them returned to the palace.
