Chapter – 20 – Sri Ramacharitha Manas –
Bala Kanda – The glory of Ramanama/Tharakamanthra capable to transform the
Kalakoota/toxic poison into nectar
I shall reverentially prostrate before Lord
Sri Ramachandra and Devi Sita, who are inseparable, resemble words and their
meanings, waves, and water. They are most
promising and compassionate to the distressed Jeeva who have taken shelter in
them. I shall prostrate before Lord Raghuvara, who is the Lord of Raghu,
represents Sun, Moon, Fire. The Supreme Lord Sri Ramachandra symbolizes Lord
Bhrama/ the creator, Lord Vishnu/Preserver, and Lord Rudra/destroyer, he is the
essence of Veda and Shastra. He is supreme Bhramam free from
attributes/Sathvik, Rajasik, Thamasik, pure, unblemished, has neither birth nor
death, resides as a soul in the Jeeva. I shall prostrate before Lord Mahadeva
along with Goddess Parvathi who whispers the Tharakamanthra /’Ramanama’ to the
ears of the Jeeva who leaves mortal coil on the sacred land of Anandhavana/Kashi,
thereby the Jeeva achieves liberation from the repeated births. I shall
prostrate before Lord Ganesha who is the staunch devotee of Lord Rama, achieved
the honor of initial oblation with the recitation of Ramanama. I shall prostrate before Byadh/hunter Valmiki
who met the Saptharishis in the forest, achieved the Mahamanthra, practiced the
recitation of Ramanama in reverse order, and achieved the honor of ‘Adhikavi’.
Lord Mahadeva emphasizes the significance of the recitation of Ramanama to
Goddess Bhavani, that it is as propitious as thousands of sacred names of Lord Sri
Ramachandra, later Lord Shiva allocated half of his body to Goddess Bhavani
watching her dedication and devotion. Lord Mahadeva who constantly engages in
reciting the ‘Ramanama’ experienced the Kalakoota as nectar, the enchanting results
of Tharakamanthra transformed the Kalakoota/toxic poison into an ornament on
the neck of Lord Mahadeva, further protected the Universe from the mass destruction.
